Here's a little easter present for all of you who still follow this game. I posted my original design document from before I actually started main development work online at http://solarwar.net/files/public/solarwar-designdoc.pdf This contains a peek at a few ideas that did not make it into the game, more details on some that did, as well as yet unpublished background on lore elements of the world. Mostly, I hope this might be helpful as a starting point for anyone who wants to build their own game, but it might also be of interest to anyone who just wants to look at how a game like this is made before programming comes into play. If there is enough interest in this kind of thing, I might also publish some balancing spreadsheets I used in the design stage.

Just a tiny fix for a problem recently reported. Turns out the game wanted to look up keys in data that was not yet loaded at that time. Which is bad. I hope not too many of you actually ran into this. Bugfixes
- Fixed a crash when hitting keys on the "Loading" startup screen

Version 1.12 is a quality of life update focused on saving you a bunch of clicks and fussing about when managing your fleet. Most importantly, your subordinates will now highlight ships in need of your attention to you, so you will no longer have to dig through so many dull ship status reports. Enhancements
- Added various ship status overviews to the navigator, defaulting to alert reports
- Fleet stats (warp capacity and fleet supply) are now shown in the navigator when a single unit is selected
- Module tech requirements are now listed in the Solarpedia
- Fixed crash on selecting "(no character)" in character swap mode

- Solar War Linux Binaries [2.86 M]
- Solar War Linux Java [133.57 M]
- Defend Earth against an alien invasion from the edge of the Solar System.
- Negotiate with the various governments of Earth and secure their support - One way or the other.
- Establish your bases on other planets to take the fight to the enemy.
- Design and build powerful spaceships, then take them into battle.
So you've kicked alien invaders off Earth dozens of times, but always wondered what the next step would be?
Solar War gives you that scenario in a turn-based strategy game, combining some novel ideas with familiar concepts from different subgenres of classic strategy games. In the game, you will lead the effort to protect Earth from the aliens and battle them for control over the Solar System.
