We are aiming to resolve balance issues and to provide players with quality of life improvements, while keeping high, but fair difficulty level; and this patch is just the first step, we are working on more, stay tuned!
Greetings mayors,
We realize that Kapital: Sparks of Revolution is a complex game, and it might be handy to have the basic mechanics described and at hand for reference. We have received a lot of feedback from our players already and we are working on improving the ingame tutorials as well (among many other things, such as bugfixes and improving game balance).
In the meantime, we encourage anyone who runs into trouble while governing their city, to consult the following guide. Please bear in mind that this is just a description of mechanics and basic tips and tricks, by no means is it "the best strategy" - there is no such thing in the game, and we definitely look forward to hearing about your own approach to the game, please share in the comments or come chat to our Discord.
Kapital: Sparks of Revolution
Quick Early Campaign Guide
Important info
This is a game about crisis. It is the games goal to scale the events in a way where the player faces the need to deal with some issue or other. It is very rare that you will be able to solve all of the problems at hand (mostly possible in the Normal difficulty campaign) and your goal is to clear your campaign objectives (quests) while ensuring enough stability to finish the Campaign or simply surviving as long as you can in Sandbox.
Early Campaign Techniques
We wanted to impart what the game tells you to control in order to build a successful city and production chains in the early campaign. All the sections of this guide are important for the overall gameplay as the players priorities are: solve hunger, then housing (migration), and then whatever else comes as you build up and scale your production and the city.
Greetings, mayors! Lapovich Team here. We've received a large amount of feedback from you recently. As developers of this game we accept full responsibility for the fact that the game in its current state doesnt meet your expectations. Nevertheless well continue to improve the game based on your feedback. We are surprised with the amount of constructive feedback. And we are happy to see that a lot of players enjoy the game and understand its message. Right now we are working on balancing issues and quality of life improvements. Also we have plans to add new features never seen before in city builders to make the game a truly unique crisis management game. Revolution never ends!
Greetings, mayors, Kapital has been out since yesterday and we are really thankful for your feedback so far! It helped us to find a few balancing issues and we are already working on fixing them - we will be releasing an update in the near future. At the moment, we have renamed the difficulties to NORMAL, HARD and EXTREME, so they are more fitting for the challenge they present.
Behold, mayors! The wait is over. Kapital: Sparks of Revolution is OUT NOW and you finally get to play the game! The war has destroyed your city and you are the one in charge of rebuilding it. The people are counting on you. But satisfying them might be the challenge of a lifetime! Fail to meet their expectations and they will protest, rebel and turn all your effort into dust. Do you have what it takes to lead them from the ashes into a bright future? Watch the official launch trailer NOW! [previewyoutube=6IMHxhaJnrM;full][/previewyoutube] Get the game, play it, enjoy it! After that, let us know what you think about it via Steam discussions or our Discord, you will be warmly welcomed there! We will also be very happy if you write a review on Kapital's Steam page. Thank you very much for your ongoing support, we are looking forward to hearing from you!
Greetings, Mayors!

We have invested a lot of work into this game and are really glad that it took the shape it has now. Greetings Mayors,
We have great news for you! Let us proudly announce that Kapital: Sparks of Revolution will be released on April 28, 2022!
Mark your calendars and make sure your schedules are wide open, because bringing a ruined, fledgling city back to prosperity will definitely take some time! Balancing the needs of three distinct social classes with very different needs and wants is ever tricky, and while you can never please everyone, one false step can very quickly lead to social unrest and even rebellion. Will you be able to make your city grow and flourish, and your population happy? We will see, very soon...
We hope to see you in-game soon. For now, feel free to leave us a message on our discussion boards or join our discord server!
Hello, mayors! Lapovich Team here!
The world is not fair. Warehouses and shops are littered with food, while hungry and beggars stalk the streets nearby. Food production itself doesn't lead to an increase in well-being. It all depends on the distribution of the produced resources. Some will get the cream, while others will only crumble from the master's table. And this state of affairs doesn't surprise anyone. Human society is heterogeneous and hierarchical. How about creating an economic strategy game focused on the interaction between economy and social structure? This is how we came up with the idea of creating Kapital: Sparks of Revolution.
The action takes place in a European state during the early 20th century. The Great War has ended, leaving behind smoking ruins and shattered lives. You are the newly elected mayor of the destroyed city. Your goal is to restore the destroyed infrastructure, improve the economy, and provide residents with a decent life. However, the population in your town consists of 3 classes: nobles, bourgeois, and workers. Each class has a unique role in the city economy. Their vision of the future is very different, and they are ready to fight for it. You are the one to make the right choice.
Today's dev blog is about the game's economic model. At first, we wanted to create a highly detailed, realistic economy where the wealth of each citizen could dynamically change depending on the player's actions. In the first prototype, every citizen could earn and spend money during the day. Each person could get rich or become a beggar, while his needs depended on his social status. However, the system with so many details turned out to be unmanageable. The requirements of hundreds of residents need to be monitored in real-time. However, Kapital's main feature was the class struggle. Instead of overloading the game with statistics screens, we abandoned microeconomics.
This decision proved to be a good one. The new prototype with a simplified economy was met with positive feedback from players. Although the workers stopped receiving daily salaries, the player still needs to pay maintenance costs for plants and public buildings. This requires a lot of gold. Gold became the bloodstream of the economy. Without it, the economy immediately starts to stagger. Plants stop working, food shortage follows, and soon crowds of angry citizens soon attack the palace.
The scale of the entire economy depends on the amount of gold available to the player during the work shift. And the primary source of gold is the people themselves. Firstly, the bourgeois class pays taxes. Secondly, every citizen generates gold while visiting a canteen or pub. The more citizens you have - the more gold you get! More gold means a larger economy and higher people's prosperity. The only problem is that all classes want a comfortable life here and now. They demand homes, food, entertainment, and medical care. They don't agree to live on a shoestring while the player is busy building an effective economy. They go out on the streets, gather in crowds, and storm the palace. At some point, crime, class strife, and conspiracies appear - and we get an explosive Molotov cocktail, in the flame of which a new social order is born!
Running a city with limited resources is not an easy task. People's demands are high. Some will get a daily ration, while others will remain hungry and angry at the government. With time discontented people will become desperate and attack other more fortunate citizens. To survive, you need to balance three main aspects: developing the economy, satisfying people's needs, and fighting radicals. Without proper management, the city will fall apart and become a mass grave. The fate of the entire nation is in your hands.
Just remember - there is no way to make everyone happy.

Greetings Mayors!
Today we'd like to share our latest and rather unusual story about the development of our upcoming game - Kapital: Sparks of Revolution.
For those who dont know me, my name is Andrey, I am the game designer for Kapital: Sparks of Revolution and the head of the Lapovich Team. I remember last Saturday in August... the weather was good, and the sun was shining brightly, so I could not resist a short riding on my scooter in the park. Still, much work had to be done to finalize our new big project before the launch. There were only few weeks before the planned release... but the fresh air and half an hour riding my scooter was a recipe for success and good mood until the evening.
I was riding my scooter, enjoying the weather, and suddenly a dog jumped out in front of me. Long story short, I ended up in the hospital with a fractured shoulder a "surprise" I did not expect.
Doctors told me that the fracture was complex, and I had to undergo an operation in the next few days, which means that I will not be able to work on the game for a while and it will be impossible to release the project in good shape on time. If we postpone the release for 3-4 weeks it would not be the best plan and not a good idea for an indie game to be released during a period when many AAA games are planned to launch. Also many seasonal Sales on Steam will start at the end of October and will go right up to February 2022. So we had to come up with a new plan and make sure that our idea of how we imagine the game to be will remain intact despite the change.
And what an idea it was! Create the first city-building simulator about class struggle! A divided society, an economic crisis, crowds of disaffected people demanding a better life... Street protests escalate into riots, the poor folks robbing shops and destroying estates, epic story, and conspiracy... Which side will you take, and how far will you go in suppressing the dissent?
At this crisis moment, we sit down with our publisher, 1C Entertainment, who offered us additional help and a new plan to support the project. We created a list of new features that should reveal the class struggle in all its glory. We will add mayhem, hostage-taking, warehouse robberies, factory accidents, mass poisonings, and other accidents! So, each playthrough in our city will be unique and not like the previous ones.
And now, a month and a half after the events described, the situation looks completely different. And we work hard to implement new features in our game. The release is now planned for Spring next year, so we have some additional time to add the new content and polish the game based on the community feedback.
In the meantime, you can watch the new trailer:
[previewyoutube=zOz4IuUWiYU;full][/previewyoutube]
The fight continues! The revolution awaits its heroes! Add Kapital to your wishlist!
P.S. By the way, I havent stopped loving scooters, and I will resume my lovely trips in the future.

Hello everyone! My name is Andrey, I am a game designer and the head of the Lapovich Team. Today we'd like to share our first official blog post about our upcoming game - Kapital: Sparks of Revolution.
When we started working on Kapital in 2018, we could not imagine how many difficulties we would have to overcome to create this game. The idea of the project is to make a citybuilder, in which the player cannot make all the inhabitants happy. And while one half lives a quiet, comfortable life, the other half eats the last cracker and goes out into the streets to sweep away the criminal power of the player in a mighty rush.
The plan was to create a demo in 2-3 months, present it to publishers, sign a contract and calmly engage in development of the game. The first 2 points were implemented immediately, but there were problems with the remaining ones. And only after 2 years of hard work with constant belt-tightening, we managed to sign up with 1C Entertainment. We are now at the finish line for the release, which will take place this Fall.
Kapital is an economic sandbox-strategy about class struggle. The game takes place in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. The player is the mayor of a ruined city, who was nominated by the local elites to pull chestnuts out of the fire: start the economy, restore infrastructure As soon as life gets better, it will be possible to replace the mayor, or at least to win him over to their side.
Society is represented by nobles, bourgeois and hard workers. Each class has an important role in the life of the city. Nobles serve in administrative buildings and the police. The bourgeois regularly pay taxes, filling the city treasury. Workers work in factories and in public buildings.
Unfortunately, the available resources are not enough to feed and make everyone happy at once. Moreover, refugees from all over the region flock to your island of stability. And if there are not enough resources, there will inevitably be dissatisfied people in the city who will go out on the street with demands: cancel epidemic restrictions, pay off the loans taken, release the opposition members and appoint them as ministers. Well, if the player does not fulfill the requirements - serious consequences are coming - the city will burn!
This cannot be allowed to happen. You can break up the protests and send the radicals to prison. But over time, the cells will run out, besides, you need to pay for the maintenance of prisoners. We can go even further - pass a law on executions and transfer radicals from their cells to the cemetery. But the cemetery is also running out of space, and the executed will be replaced by new freedom fighters.
In general, no matter what the player does, there will always be someone in the city who is dissatisfied with the state of things. And to unravel this tangle of contradictions, we will have to plunge headlong into the boiling cauldron of class struggle.
Hello everyone! We are more than happy to announce our society management game, Kapital: Sparks of Revolution, is planned to release this Fall!
