Devlog #49
We have decided not to rush the update since we have so many new things planned for it, and we want to make it meaningful enough for all players who have already played Longvinter to try it out again and return to play. This is why we have decided to launch the 1.0 update next year on the same date that we originally launched in early access, which is February 24, 2025! This update will come with a wipe since we have made substantial changes to the economy of the fuel, and then everyone will get a chance to experience Longvinter as we would have wanted it to be experienced 3 years ago! We are aware of Steam Deck issues, but currently, we cannot reproduce the problem on our own deck, which has slowed down the troubleshooting greatly. We will look into it more next week and try to figure out what's wrong with it! Sorry for the issue taking so long to resolve.
Many players in our Discord have been asking about the wipe day, and we're considering the possibility of a wipe before next year, given that the full release is still quite far off. We want to hear from you! We'll be creating a survey soon where you can voice your opinion on whether you'd prefer a wipe at the start of December or to continue playing without interruption until the full release. Importantly, we'll be gathering opinions from each region individually. For example, if the Asia region wants a wipe but the EU region doesn't, we'll only wipe the Asia servers in December. This approach allows us to cater to the preferences of different player communities. We encourage you to participate in the upcoming survey to help us make this decision. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts on wipes in general in the comments below. Your feedback is crucial in shaping the Longvinter experience for everyone!
Here are the most recent updates our team has been working on: [previewyoutube=dU6oLCOw-Q4;full][/previewyoutube] We have finally made it so that placeables and items drop to the ground and don't stay floating in the air after there is nothing underneath them. This honestly should have been added last year already, but better late than never. We will make this an optional server setting behaviour so builders in PVE can still use their creativity, but for our official PVP servers, this will come as the default option.
We have just finished modeling the 3 different combat vests that will be in-game items. The image shows one of the 3 color variants we have prepared for each vest so you can trade the one you like with your neighbor. These will enable a hotkey action that makes actions in your inventory without the need for opening it:

Hi everyone! Hope you all have been able to get a chance at catching and getting back at the clown that has been causing mayhem in the server by stealing items. We have exciting news for you all. Longvinter now has a release date for its 1.0 update, and we also have a question about wipes that we want to ask opinions about.

Should We Wipe Before Christmas?

New Vests and Dropping Items!

These will enable a hotkey action that makes actions in your inventory without the need for opening it:
- Reload Vest: Reloads ammo from your inventory to your weapon by just pressing the hotkey.
- Weapon Vest: Allows you to change weapons in your inventory quickly by just pressing the hotkey.
- Food Pouch: When pressed, allows you to eat food in your inventory quickly.
