It seems like only yesterday Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince was released, but it's been a little over a month, where has the time gone?!

We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who's been playing the game and leaving reviews - we've thoroughly enjoyed reading them and are delighted you've been enjoying your adventure with Lily and Chrys.

Today we have some exciting news for you, Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince has been officially verified for the Steam Deck!

What does being verified for the Steam Deck mean? It means that Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince has had Valve's seal of approval that it's optimised in every way possible to play seamlessly. You can take this adventure with you on the go, from your sofa or to the park, on an aeroplane, and beyond!

Hi folks,

Firstly, thank you to everyone for playing Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince, we hope you're having a grand adventure!

Thanks to our players we caught a bug causing some people to fall into the water around Sunkiss Canyon and being unable to get out. We are delighted that we've introduced a patch to fix this, as well as a few other things. Check out the full patch notes below.

Full patch notes v1.01:

• Addition of a teleport fix for the northern canyon's water. Fixing the water issue, so you are teleported back to land.
  
• Fix for the 'grapple over the mermaid' bug.
  
• Expanded the telescope collision box in the wizard house, to allow for bottom access.
  
• Fix for incorrect Grandma dialogue directions. Previously stated Morkla was to the west, but emerald jungles are to the east.
  
• Fix for small graphic issue with the potion selector box on the alchemy screen.
  
• Fix for incorrect directions from the 'sleepy guy' in Blossomdale tavern for the buried treasure.
  
• Edit/change to the anchor. Moving it down a couple of pixels on the island "overworld". So it can be seen with reduced cam motion enabled.
  
• Addition of the map below the island chest bug area "overworld" to the teleport fix above.

It's almost time!

Blossom Tales 2 arrives next week! What better way to celebrate than by talking a bit more about some fun characters you'll meet and the new abilities they'll teach you...



One of the most exciting new features is alchemy, which allows you to brew 10 unique potions out of over 40 collectables found throughout the world. Keep an eye out for witch huts to learn new potions!



The magic hot air balloon is also a fun addition, which lets you quickly revisit areas you've explored. Summon the Sky Wizard's gift to anywhere on the map by learning one of the many special songs taught by the magic bards. One song even lets you wake up the heaviest of sleepers, which will come in handy for both the main story and side-quests.



Speaking of side-quests, we hope you check them out to meet some of our favourite characters. The colosseum announcer is particularly hilarious, and the mail quest is well worth it, not just for the amazing reward you get at the end. Sleeping mermaids, chipmunk kings, troll hunters there's plenty more for Lily to do when she needs a break from kicking minotaur butt!

WOW... We can't believe Blossom Tales 2 is less than three weeks away! Although there's plenty of that knots-in-your-stomach feeling, it's surreal knowing we've made another game influenced by our favourite childhood games and movies. Let's take a look at some!


Inspiration
It's no surprise why Labyrinth (1986) has been a source of inspiration across mediums and was one of our greatest sources of inspiration this time around. Fans of Jim Henson's cult classic film will notice a familiarity in how Lily's story kicks off and her ultimate destination. As for gameplay, we hope you check out Lily's next adventure if you have a [giant] soft spot for classic 2D top-down Zelda games like Link's Awakening and the Oracle of Ages/Seasons titles.



Once upon a time...
It's time to gather around the campfire and roast some marshmallows because we've also added more of that unique Blossom Tales feel brought by Grandpa and the kids. Blossom Tales 2 features many player choice moments where Lily and Chrys interrupt to alter the story. Along with returning combat choices, Blossom Tales 2 lets you select variations of items, puzzles, and even a rideable companion! You may have seen them on Twitter or in a trailer, but we're sure they'll delight you all.

Good day Knights!

Castle Pixel here, a small game dev team making big adventures inspired by our classic favourites. Our core team consists of three developers: Tyler B. (programming/game design), Rob M. (art/game design), and Miguel V. (story/narrative design). Blossom Tales 2 is our third game together!


How is Blossom Tales 2 related to the first game and what makes it different?
At a glance, Blossom Tales 2 looks pretty similar to the first game since we have the same playable character and story-within-a-story narrative, both of which fans loved. But in The Minotaur Prince, Grandpa's fireside story is set hundreds of years after The Sleeping King and features new zones, enemies, towns, villains, and more!



Introducing Lily
Named after a legendary Knight of the Rose, this story's Lily accidentally causes her brother's kidnapping by the dreaded Minotaur King! With the help of many colourful characters, from giant ancient turtles to magic bards, Lily must fight through pirate jungles, haunted woods, and other dangerous places to rescue Chrys from a treacherous labyrinth.



Brand new abilities and mechanics!
Luckily, there's a myriad of new abilities for Lily to learn and master. With alchemy, players can make powerful potions that grant fire projectiles, increased speed, and other useful buffs. There are also hidden Combat Scrolls that teach Lily her most versatile combat moves. When you include all the new (and returning) weapons found in Blossom Tales 2, you have one tough little hero the Minotaur King would be wise not to underestimate!



In the run-up to launch (16th August - so close!!), we'll be diving into more of the story and what makes Blossom Tales 2 the adventure you won't want to put down. Stay tuned for more!
