Hello! Got some new stuff for you this week.
The biggest new feature is a Boss Rush mode that can be unlocked by completing the game and activating the statue to the immediate right of the door in the starting area. Upon entering the door with the statue activated, skilled Unslain can test their mettle against all of the game's bosses in sequential order. This prototype version is ridiculously hard, as there are no health pickups and only the normal short and med sword to aid you ( I may end up changing this in some way, but for those looking for even more of a challenge, this update is for you!). In the future I'd like to add an online leaderboard for these runs as well so players won't have to just compete against themselves for best time.
Apart from this new mode, Update #4 is fairly light! Getting ready for the full release now and I'm hesitant to change anything major til after the release. Mainly added more feedback and quality of life features. Check it out below.

-More visual feedback when Sky Swimmers explode

-Adjusted health meters to be more accurate
-Unslain faces in direction of sword slash when idle
-Visual low-health indicator on screen and health bar
-Added attack indicator to blue mages in first area
-Option in Controls menu to invert the mouse scroll wheel direction
-Increased visual feedback when choosing Quick Restart
-Removed health bar on starting sword to indicate it doesn't break

Hello! Update #3 is live for Windows users! This is a fairly small update with mainly some quality of life improvements and some fixes as always! Check it out. Changes: -Video/Audio settings now save on exiting the game (so you don't have to keep changing them each time) -Controls menu now has the controls displayed and will change based on Gamepad or Keyboard & Mouse layout -Timer now stops when it's supposed to -New sword-smith music -UI ring now pulses when you don't have enough Essence to enter a level door -Amount of damage you can do to the Sky Centipede's tail is now capped -The fire status effect will now leave you at 1 HP instead of killing you- Direct contact with a fire attack will still kill you -Flame Med Long Sword speed adjusted -Can now switch swords during cutscenes -Subtle cursor feedback on swing -More separation on the projectiles of the Towersworn Sentry (Boss 2) Fixes -Can't hit enemies while inside the shop now -Swords remain in the same slots when switching areas -Monsters don't pile up as much now when entering a shop -adjusted the Octopus laser attack -Can now mouse over the options in the Continue screen as well as using the arrow keys to navigate the options -switching to 1280x720 with gamepad enabled now centers the cursor correctly -fixed doors not spawning correctly on shops sometimes -centipede fire now gets put out after being defeated -can no longer interact with Swordsmiths through walls -can't hit static Sky Centipede Projectiles anymore -Towersworn Sentry's (Boss 2) minions now explode safely after being defeated -menu highlight no longer remains in the same position after switching menu tabs -fixed NPC typo (For Real This Time) -Quick Restart prompt now changes based on configuration That's all for now! Hey all! Comin' at you today with a small update. The big news is I added Steam Achievements! Fixes: -Centipede area sword drop was previously unreadable because it was blocked off by the Boss' health bar. Now Boss health bars fade out after they are defeated -Octopus can't shoot you when you are inside a shop -Unskippable intro cutscene should no longer play when you beat the game and start a new game -Fixed small bug where Vitality Crystal names weren't displaying when moving from the healer to the crystal. -Sword text now displays properly when you switch out a weapon and when your equipped sword breaks -duplicate NPC's can't spawn in same area anymore -Fixed a bug where you'd infinitely remain on fire after putting yourself out with a Water Sword -Fixed NPC typo in Sky Graveyards -Fixed Sky Centipede Fire not being put out after its defeat Changes: -Added Steam Achievements! -Getting in range of Vitality Crystals now shows you how much it will heal -Weapon Selection slot now persists between areas -Added in Healer Music by Seltzki -Added in-game timer for runs that can be toggled in the Video options Known Problems: -Mac build seems to appear upside down... hnghhh That's it for this one! Update 1: Hey all! It's been a little over a week since the start of the Beta and I've received a lot of good feedback and suggestions through the Discord and dokorokobugs@gmail. This update is for Windows users only right now as that seems to be the majority of the player base, but I should have the Linux and Mac builds up tomorrow. My ability to test on these latter platforms is limited- I only have access to an 11 year old macbook currently so please bare with me until I can acquire a more modern machine! Here are the changes: Fixes: -Sword enemies no longer swing after they're defeated -Fixed bug where you'd go to pick up sword on the top of the 2nd boss's room and activate the door instead -Tried to increase contrast on the cursor so it doesn't get lost in bright spots -Can no longer hit the drones after you defeat boss 4 -Can't press ESC anymore during the first cutscene -Controller settings no longer revert to keyboard when area is changed -Fixed rapid navigation in Game Over Menu with controller -Can now also use D-Pad to navigate Game Over menu options -Video settings now transfer across areas -Unslain can't get soft-locked anymore walking toward door (I THINK) -Can navigate pause menu with gamepad now -Falling off edge in the Windmill Village now kills you -Attacks are now in direction of analogue stick (not cursor) when using gamepad (still needs visual work) -Wall slide sound no longer continues looping when you land -Pop Up UI is no longer obscured in Boss 4's area -Cursor is now confined within the bounds of the screen in Fullscreen mode (This was a problem when using a dual monitor in the previous version) -Switched default graphics API to Direct 3D 11, will hopefully fix wacky colorful triangle glitch that some were experiencing -Intro cutscene no longer repeats when you choose not to continue from Game Over-> go back to the title screen -> and then try again -Sword text boxes should always contain text now in boss rooms -Fixed sword looking dark before you swing it -No more floating NPC's (?) - Fixed a button typo in the manual -Fixed a bug where the Unslain would keep swinging sword in the Windmill Village infinitely -On-screen prompts now update to reflect your control scheme (Keyboard, Xbox, Playstation) -Enemies should no longer emit projectiles after being defeated -Took out hit stops for Magick sword against projectiles because there are situations where this would look like the game is slowing down a lot -Fixed NPC typo in area 2 -Can no longer derail wall crawlers with Magick sword -Holding movement controls during cutscene should now register once control is regained -Can't switch swords during cutscenes now Changes: -Nerfed Flame Mage a bit -Fire status effect reapplies when hit with fire damage -Balanced the damage more for sword-wielding monsters -Minor adjustments of swing speeds for swords -Added a screen distortion effect when you are hit -Increased the grace period of shrinking lasers -buffed the 2nd and 3rd bosses a bit -Name of currently equipped sword is now displayed -Added mouse wheel scroll for sword selection -Removed normal short swords from swordsmiths and area chests (Got another suggestion recently that I think might make this redundant) -Changed "Light" sword naming convention to "Holy" -Stamina bar flashes when full -Added hit-box on tail of centipede boss (forgot to do this with electricity centipede) -Shops are now Safe Areas -Turned down bloom on final boss area -Water sword swings remove fire debuff -Bosses give more gems -Reduced the break-rate of swords against the 4th boss's drones (easy to quickly break all your swords fighting this boss) -Added more visual/audio feedback when 4th boss's shield powers up/down -Swords no longer auto-switch after they break -Boss attacks no longer repeat twice in a row -Shops spawn 1 short, 1 med, 1 long sword now Big thanks to all the beta testers for being ever vigilant and providing a ton of great suggestions.
