Hey Creature Creators! A new update is now live with a tonne of new features, fixes and optimizations! Here is a summary of all the changes:

Hey everyone!
For this update, I implemented a better login system with the ability to set a unique username! You can still sign in anonymously like before, but I also added the option to sign in with a cross-platform Unity account. You can access this from the settings menu!
This was mainly added for the new friends system which now allows you to make cross-platform friends!
You can add friends by either sending a request directly using a player's ID (e.g., PlayerName#1234) or by clicking on their username from the in-game networking menu. Once they accept your request, they'll show up in your list of friends!
As friends, you can see each others status (i.e., online, busy or invisible) and even quick join when they are in-game. To help distinguish players, your friends will also show up as a different colour. Best of all though, Ive now added creature stacking! To stack on top of friends, hover over a players creature, and scroll up with your mouse wheel to select the saddle icon. You can dismount using Ctrl+Space (or rebind it from the settings menu)!
Additionally, I've fixed a few issues and added some new features like being able to set the spawn point for multiplayer worlds!

Compete against friends in 6 new minigames throughout the world of Creature Creator:
- Build Battle - Given a topic, build a creature and then rate your opponents to determine whose is the best!
- Race - Be the first to complete three laps around the racetrack!
- Soccer - Score the most goals for your team before time runs out.
- Pirate King - Occupy the land near the shipwreck for the longest amount of time.
- Fruit Fight - Collect the most fruit for your team.
- Cave Critters - Kill the most spiders in the given time.
The world of Creature Creator is evolving! Explore new areas on the Island and Farm, but watch out for enemies! Youll now encounter octopuses in the ocean and spiders lurking in the caves of Farm and Cave. These enemies can quickly become overwhelming in hordes though, so make sure to use the new spin attack to deal lots of AOE damage! On the topic of combat, all the AI has been buffed and improved, and Ive added some more satisfying damage effects! There are also now multiple battle locations on each map with enemies from that map instead of the single battle arena on Sandbox! The hunger system has also been reworked so that you only regenerate health if your hunger is fully replenished and you have been out of combat for over 10 seconds! There have been quite a few changes to mobile as well. Free users will now be able to create online multiplayer worlds (limited to public lobbies with a maximum of 4 players). You will also receive free rewards daily for just logging in! Ive also reduced the size of banner ads and removed them entirely during cinematics. Next, I added a highly requested QOL feature to save a copy of your creature if you disconnect unexpectedly! Finally, lots of bugs have been fixed and Ive been working on a few performance improvements as well. Im currently implementing a major optimization to creatures. For those interested it has to do with optimizing the number of draw calls per creature to only be 2, instead of being a factor of the number of body parts and materials per each body part. In short, the creature rendering overhead will go from a time complexity of `O(n^3)` to `O(n)` which simply put is HUGE! With this change, Ill be increasing the number of players on a server to 16, but it could definitely handle more! The minigames and City map updates are coming soon, so stay tuned! Cheers, Daniel

The Factory
Share your favorite creatures with the community! Popular trending creatures for the week are featured in the main menu. You can view all the creations in the Steam workshop. To send a creature to the factory (i.e., upload to the Steam workshop), just click on the share button next to its name.
Optimizations
The game underwent some major optimizations which improved both performance and file size! The total size of the application was reduced from 3GB to 0.6GB without any noticeable degradations in quality. Creature construction time was also reduced by 85% (previously a large creature would take 120ms to construct, and now it takes 20ms). This means no more lag spikes during a multiplayer game session when lots of players are constructing creatures at the same time. The average performance has improved a lot as well due to lots of factors like optimizing creature animation (e.g., disable movement when too far away), GPU instancing, static batching, optimized shaders, terrain and water LOD, occlusion culling, baked lighting, optimized textures and audio, etc.!
Map Changes
There were also a few changes to the Farm and Cave maps:
- Farm: The beach has been populated with palm trees and grasses and a pathway was added to the locked chest. The orchard and ranch were resized and more trees were added. Two moving platforms were added to the lake. Crystals now emit light in the cave. Background terrain was added with extended roads. The number of trees were reduced in the forest. Coins for the "Wishing Well" quest were moved closer to the well. Snakes were removed from the forest.
- Cave: Added Basalt platforms and fixed the moss. Lighting is now properly baked as well and light probes have been used for realtime dynamic objects to receive lighting.
Other
There are lots of minor changes or improvements, but here are some of the most noteworthy:
- Corpses are now edible (nice, cannibalism) and float on water.
- Added Turkish language.
- Added Night Vision ability.
- Added a native file browser for importing and exporting creatures!
- Created a new app icon!
- Scrolling on a creature's body targets the nearest bone.
- Held items are offset to a creature's hand.
- Add sense factor to noses and ears (which increases visibility for parts).
- Add launcher trajectories.
- Right click to flip parts along the local z-axis.
- Added camera shake when you take damage.
- Limit number of light sources per creature.
- NPCs move to different position when attacked.
- Prevent drowning when on rafts.
- Added ambient particles setting to disable clouds and particles in the cave.
Added:
- Add walk, run and jump (landing) footsteps for grass, dirt, sand, rock and water. (Note that this can be disabled from the settings menu!)
- Add kicked list to lobby data using SteamId, so players cannot rejoin online worlds they have been kicked from.
- Add world hints to teleporters and blinking icons to minimap when you are ready to advance.
- Fix "Could not resolve 'x' because it is not a child Transform in the Animator hierarchy warning messages.
- Fix bug where the language would change unexpectedly. (Hopefully...)
- Fix teleporters not updating the number of players in multiplayer.
- Fix body parts overlapping in the editor.
- Fix minimap not disabling zones when entered.
- Fix issue where you couldn't change your language.
- Fix issue where releasing tools wouldn't register.

- Move all coal deposits to the mineshaft in cave.
- Reduce dance cooldown to 60 seconds
- Change "Beetlesnatch" author to "MAVG".
- Disable command input debug manager.
- Make all props in Farm walkable.
Explore the cave to unlock 14 new parts and 12 new patterns, and mine coal to complete the new quest!

This is the 2nd largest map but the most confusing, so use the minimap to help navigate. Remember that you can fast travel by clicking on an editing platform to teleport to it!

In this update, we focus on expanding the open world!
Inter-World Travel
You can now teleport between different maps in both single- and multiplayer! Just navigate to a landmark (e.g., the sandbox in Farm) with everyone online, and teleport! This is in preparation for the "story" update coming soon to adventure mode!
Map Changes
In order to teleport between Island and Farm, there needed to be a link! For this, I added a beach to the previously unreachable top portion of Farm and used the raft which washes up onto the shore of Island to teleport! I've also increased the depth of the ocean on Island, and added an additional forest and background landscape to Farm.
Localization
In other news, the game is currently being translated into 11 different languages (i.e., English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Italian and Portuguese)! An official language update will be coming soon once that has been completed, but for now it is in the game for testing and feedback!
Other
The tutorial was updated to include hint messages to help better guide new players, and teach them about the minimap. A few longstanding bugs were finally fixed (including players' age, hunger and health jumping around sporadically), and several smaller ones like projectiles malfunctioning and searching through creatures not working. Additionally, players' movement speed and flapping and jumping was increased slightly. To see a full list of all the changes, you can view the commit history on GitHub.
