SNEAK PEEK into 0.81: Campfires, Save Game, Gear Rework, Legendary Sword & More!

Greetings Crawlers! We have been slowly but surely working on our next content update for cave crawlers, update 0.81. We are very excited to showcase just SOME of what we have been working on over the past two months.

Campfires/Save Game System:




A major new addition coming in 0.81 is campfires. You can find a campfire at the start of every floor. Campfires serve as a rest spot before you begin a floor. When you first sit down at a campfire, you will have various actions you can choose to do at the campfire. Currently, there are two possible actions a player can take, but in the future, we may add more! You can only take one action at each campfire. The two actions currently are: Heal, which can heal up to 2 missing HP, depending on how much missing HP you have in total. Sleep, which saves and exits your character from a run. This is NOT the same as extracting, as you are unable to take that character into another, different run. If you would like to use that character, you must continue that specific run you exited from. You are unable to bring NEW players into a saved run, but if multiple people decide to sleep at the same campfire, you will all be able to continue that run together so long as you all saved and exited on the same floor.

Gear and Equipment Rework:



Armor is getting a major change in 0.81! We are removing your character's helmet, boots, backpack, and trinket slots to replace them with Equipment slots. Equipment slots allow you to equip ANY piece of gear previously equipable to those specific helmet, boots, etc slots. In addition to this, we are adding a restriction on how many of a specific item type you can equip. For example, items such as boots and helmets will have a restriction of one equipped at a time, but items such as rings or trinkets will have NO restriction on the number you can have equipped at once. This change will allow players to diversify what equipment they would like to use, being able to use 5 rings or 3 trinkets and a helmet + backpack if they would like! There will also be multiple new item types added, such as back, belts, and bracers. Finally, nearly every piece of gear has been significantly changed. Most items have had their stats and procs adjusted or completely changed. To supplement this change, we have removed proc restrictions from gear. If you have two Gold Rings equipped that both have a 35% chance on hit to proc a 1% crit buff, each hit on a mob will now proc BOTH equipped rings, instead of previously rolling just once, giving you two separate 35% rolls to gain 1% crit.

New Legendary Weapons:



As requested by the community, multiple new legendary weapons are in development! One legendary coming in 0.81 is "Nezyecks Tribute", a legendary broadsword with the ability to spawn horrifying tentacles and portals from the void.

Torch Update:



As you may have noticed in one of the previous pictures, torches are getting a visual update! Most torches will have this new animated fire effect to them that will shrink and get dimmer as the torch runs out of torch duration.

Large Chests:



Large Chests are a new type of chest that will rarely spawn instead of a regular chest. These large chests, when opened, reveal TWO different items, but only ONE can be taken from the chest.

0.81 is a sizable content update primarily focused on adding highly requested additions the community has been asking for, as well as new content introducing more player decisions to make within a run. There are many other additions we didn't discuss: new prestige rewards, new rooms, many new items, and much more! In Cave Crawlers you play as a Dwarf searching for glory, power, and loot in the form of armor, weapons, potions, and items hidden underground from the world above. Your player has a fun, complex talent and stat system that you will use to fight powerful bosses and enemies. You'll find all kinds of mysteries along your journey, exploring different biomes, mobs, and items along the way.

As a dwarf searching for treasure and glory, you'll find that your journey can be quite tough without some allies at your side. Each player uses their own personalized talents, spells, and items to help defeat treacherous bosses.

CO-OP UP TO 10 PLAYERS

Crawl through the caves alone or with a group of friends! Cave Crawlers supports up to 10 players in one game. You must rely on the great strength and wit of your teammates to defeat the threats deep in the caves. Be careful though, the power of the caves grows as more dwarfs adventure together.

BIOMES

As you explore, players will find complete environment changes, new enemies, and new items in each biome. In these biomes, you may stumble upon trapped rooms that contain magnificent rewards.

BOSSES

Biomes will include their own themed boss. Each boss has its own challenging mechanics that must be overcome to gain access to the next biome. Bosses drop their own unique loot.

DEATH

At the beginning of your journey, you will be able to create one character. Each character has its own set of items and expertise talents. When a character dies, they are permanently dead.

LIGHT

The caves are extremely dark, players must make use of their limited light. Torches burn out over time, yet players may use their flint and steel in the darkest of situations.

TALENTS AND SPELLS

Choose your path with over 100+ talents at your disposal. Will you ravage enemies with an axe? Swing extremely fast with a dagger? Heal allies with a torch? Become a tank and block attacks? Try each path and forge your own builds.

ITEMS

Many unique and powerful items can be found throughout your journey. Each weapon has its own personal talent, helping you defeat increasingly difficult enemies.
