MANIAC - DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP
[ 2024-04-09 08:58:54 CET ] [ Original post ]
I've planned 2 content updates for Maniac in the upcoming few weeks: UPDATE 1 (this week or next week)
- Playable Moments - a new feature which enables anyone to replay anyone's moment during gameplay. This means you can save a highlight of your gameplay and then share that moment with the community. For example you destroyed 5 tanks in 30 seconds with Santa. You can let others replay that moment and let them beat your score - to destroy 7 tanks in 20 seconds - for example. More on this in the update!
- Most critical bug fixes - auto-aim issues, controller issues, menus and upgrade issues.
- Steam Achievements - a lot of new stuff to do!
- Steam Workshop - [olist]
- an easy way to play new maps created with the editor
- ability to play modified pursuit levels (order and amount of pursuit vehicles) [/olist]
- Steam Trading Cards
- New game modes [olist]
- Hard Mode - available after beating the game with all characters
- Score Attack - pursuit levels come in based on damage not time [/olist]
- Auto-fire and auto-aim fixes
- Menu bugs with controller
- Blue screen / tank physics bugs
- Most Wanted upgrade breaking the end game
- Auto-pickup issues
- Upgrades with high level of upgrade issues

Dear computer video gamer,
I have worked hard to achieve a masterful game, both deep and fun, satisfying the most demanding action desires. The idea came years ago when I vigurously played the demo of GTA 1 after school. I was addicted to killing as many pedestrians, cops and doing as much damage as possible within the 6 minutes time constraint of the demo. I also liked the original top view experience most and not finding a game like that on the market I decided to make one myself. But with additional twists to make it more interesting and emphasize strategies and unique ways of achieving total destruction.
What makes a good GTA car chase game?
- demanding police chase AI
- tricking AI into blowing each other up
- strategies / levelling up (eg. more speed? or more armor?)
- constant bar up with each gained point (more chase vehicles and types)
- slick feel-just-right driving
- satisfying physics leading to emergent situations (eg. explosions!)
- satisfaction and flow from avoiding the most dangerous situations
Have fun,
MM - the developer
