With the currently active Demo out, we wanted to put out some information on Steam Deck compatibility. Dashwalk Dueling is playable on the Steam Deck through proton. Controller glyphs currently do not update to match based on controller type but the change between controller and keyboard. Mouse and touch input within menus are not yet fully functional. Currently, gamepad input is fully supported as the main input type. The keyboard is also almost completely supported with just a few minor issues. Custom controls for all types will also be released soon. Dashwalk Dueling is almost entirely playable on Steam Deck, currently, it is not up to Deck Verified guidelines but we are not far from reaching that point. We will release another update when we reach any significant milestones in Steam Deck compatibility! Fully Functional

🎮 Full Controller Support
Stable Online is Priority
Rollback netcode is currently in development to a ensure stable and responsive online experience for both esports tournament competitors and your average bros at chilling at home!Combo trials give players a place to master the game's combo system. Each swordfighter has their own set of trials, including trails for parries, universal normals, and even a mode for players to create and share crazy custom combos and setups.
Guarding and parrying are designed for fast-paced play but don't leave defensive players behind. Parries being cancellable into dashes and special back-dashes keep footsies at the heart of the game and it's neutral. Parry is intended to complement the movement system and can even be done in the air, although this is not as versatile. Blocking is done by crouching and works to reduce your hitstun, accelerate your escape, and open up your options.
The expressive combo system is aided by the crumple and crumple break mechanics which give you access to relentless combos when landing a strong combo starter. Overflow gives a massive frame advantage and pairs fantastically with crumple mechanics. Players darken when in hitstun to help combos feel intuitive, alongside a combo counter that gives players precise immediate feedback on their combos and strings.
Training mode is built with experimentation and practice in mind. Savestates, recording, frame advantage, move frame data, hitbox displays, per frame simulation, an adaptive combo counter, and more are included and togglable to allow for a huge variety of experimentation from our game's lab rats!
Dashwalk Dueling comes from a place of competition, playtested throughout development with first-to-ten sets at competitive fighting game events. The game is designed to be fair to players, robust for competition — and finally fast to ensure competitions can run quickly and smoothly. Features like training mode are built to be used as tools for those delving into the game's deepest depths, making it easier to explore the game's sea of expression. We hope you give training mode a shot!
Precise grounded movement is the foundation of Dashwalk Dueling: while on stage, movement is limited to only grounded options. Given this limitation recovering to the stage is the only time jumping is available—while grounded, there is no jump. This encourages spacing heavy grounded play with any airtime being a life and death struggle.
