Kainga in 2025
Ive been working on bringing some exciting new features to the game, including new creatures, technologies, and the new points of interest system. I've also been trying to add controller support which has proven to be more difficult than I expected, but Im making progress on it. More news on this to come, and if you want to try out the new update and help find issues, you can join the BETA branch and reach out on Discord!
Im really excited to announce that Ive launched my own development company: Silk Softworks. Im still a solo developer, but as I spread out to more projects in the future, I want to have them under one umbrella brand.
This may seem just symbolic, but it has allowed me to move into a self-publishing model this year, under the Silk Softworks brand. This means Kainga will no longer be published by Green Man Gaming and I've regained full control of the game again! This has removed a roadblock in updates and you should see more activity here from now on :)
While awaiting the transfer, Ive also been working on a new game: ShantyTown. It started as a tiny side project but has grown into something I'm quite proud of. ShantyTown is a relaxing city-block building game where you place objects one at a time to create a colorful, atmospheric and dense urban environment. I've been making ~monthly devlogs since the games conception, so if you're interested in the whole game-dev process, you can check that out here. If the game sounds like its up your alley, please do me a favor and wishlist it! They even share the same phonetic language! (These characters are on the cover of the Kainga menu book)

- Build, Survive, and Adapt
As the Thinker you must use your knowledge of Kainga to lead your tribe, learn through trial and error how to adapt to your surroundings and develop a village that can flourish. Protect your Thinker at all costs but make sure to use them to expand your technology and govern your tribe. - Encounter Mysterious and Dangerous Creatures
Colossal creatures can be found lurking throughout Kainga’s varied biomes, often hidden in the sea or deep underground. Learn to live in harmony with them, tame them and add them to your economy or use their strength in combat against your rivals. - Explore a Beautiful and Threatening Land
Discover what the 8 unique biomes have to offer, each with its own beauty and dangers. Lead your tribe to adapt and survive across barren deserts, tropical archipelagos, icy mountains and lush jungles. - Pick up the Pieces and Try Again
Death is not the end. Learn from your failures and begin again in a new world. Complete challenges to unlock new biomes, technologies, and Thinkers. Take your newfound knowledge to build bigger and better cultures.
