Update, Art Book, and Soundtrack

Hello again!

So first of all, there's a little update rolling out today! It took a little while but I think I've solved some of the bigger issues people were facing in the game. Here's the patch notes:

  • Fixed the glitch where you fall through the portals and die on the spikes in collage
  • Fixed the music stopping abruptly in the calibration chamber in graphite
  • Fixed the handful of sound effects that weren't actually controlled by the in-game volume controls
  • Removed the rope warp glitch... Sorry, speedrunners!
  • Fixed a typo that has been in the game for an embarrassingly long time
  • Added a button to the artifacts page on the main menu that lets you reset your collectible progress (I actually did this one a little while ago, but never announced it)

(by the way, some of these bugs were extra tricky to test, since I couldn't recreate all of them myself, so let me know if they persist)

In addition to the update, you may notice a couple new DLCs added to the store page today! They're just some additional (non-ingame) content for those who are interested, or would like to support the musicians and I in our coming endeavors.

First is the art book, The Making of the Multi Medium, Written and Compiled by yours truly. It's actually more of a behind the scenes book than an art book, though it is jam-packed with art. If you're at all interested in the process behind the game, or want to see how it came together from my concept sketches, do check it out!

Also, the soundtrack is now available to download on Steam (as well as wherever else you get your music). My musician friends spent a lot of time and effort making the soundtrack for the game the best it can be, and it's definitely worth a listen on its own, to fully appreciate their work. I am honored to have such a glorious soundtrack to accompany my little game, and I'm excited for everyone to listen to it.

Thanks again to everyone who played the game. I'm so very glad people seem to like it. It can be a scary thing to publish something that you poured so much of your time and care into, and it's always a special kind of relief to see that people recognize or appreciate it.

Thanks for reading,
Micah

P.S. If you're reading this in June of 2023: I'm putting the game on sale for a bit, so pick it up now if you haven't already!

Soundtrack is Streaming!

Hello all,

It's been a little while, and I've been very busy.

I've seen countless comments from players interested in listening to the soundtrack, so I wanted to put it out there in some way. I worked with my wonderful musicians to name and compile all the music into an album, and put it on every streaming platform I could.

You can find it on Spotify, YouTube, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, etc... Just look for The Multi-Medium Original Soundtrack.

On YouTube, you can find it in a playlist on my channel, at .

We've included all the different variations of every song, in all their full lengths, so it may be a little long or repetitive to listen to the whole thing like a normal album. We just wanted to make sure nothing was left out.

Sorry it's so late, I intended to release the soundtrack much sooner, but life has kept me busy with other things. It's not available for purchase on steam yet, but it may be in the future if I have the time to put it up (alongside some artwork, if I can manage).

Thanks for your patience,
Micah

First Patch

Hey everyone!

Since releasing yesterday, I've gotten a lot of feedback, and many small bugs have been brought to my attention that I had not previously noticed. I don't know if you've noticed, but I've been rolling out a lot of little updates to fix things as they enter my radar.

Here's a changelog:

  • Fixed the spider getting stuck when crawling on sharper corners
  • Fixed the delay in the acquisition of the achievement that you get for finding every artifact.
  • Fixed the watercolor boss acting all weird when you get killed on its third dash move.
  • Hopefully fixed the issue where you could accidentally abandon the square people and get stuck in the ink level (let me know if this is still happening, I had trouble recreating it, but made some general fixes anyway)
  • Fixed the issue where you can glitch the ink boss if you die via a stray laser shortly after defeating it.
  • Fixed some of the goofy behavior involving push-blocks and portals. If you really try, you can still get some weird things to happen, but I don't think anything too weird should happen to the standard player. I'm still working on fixing some things.
  • Added an option in the settings menu so you can force the mouse cursor to stay visible during gameplay, even when not aiming.
  • And some other smaller things...

Additionally, there were some big things I wanted to fix, but I couldn't completely recreate the issue, so I'm not sure if I actually did completely fix it.

  • This one's important: some people have mentioned being unable to finish off the ink boss... For some reason it refuses to die when hit... I don't fully know why this is, and I can't get it to happen myself, but I've tried a few things that might be the culprit... To those of you who ran into this issue, please let me know if it is still happening now...
  • Some people have reported the music randomly cutting out during the same ink boss fight. I think I've fixed it, but I'm not entirely sure because I couldn't recreate it. Again, please let me know if it still happens to you after updating.

And lastly, an important apology to Linux players:
Upon release, the native Linux build wasn't working properly, and you may have downloaded the windows build and played it with Proton. I ended up fixing up the Linux build, but in the process, your saves may have been moved, and therefore cleared... So if you started playing sometime yesterday, and tried to play again today only to find your saves are gone, I'm sorry...
Hopefully it should all be working now.

Thanks for all the support and kind words, you're all the best. Thank you so so much for playing, it means a lot to me.

Micah

Release Day is Finally Here!

Hello all!

It's been a long time since my last game was released, and I've spent the majority of that time working on this new project. It's been a long and arduous journey and I've learned a ton. Now I'm finally ready to share it with the world. Tell all your friends!

I can't wait to see what you think. If you play it, stick around to the end, the later levels are my favorite ones ;)

Anyway, Please enjoy the game and provide feedback in the in-game feedback menu. I have learned a lot from reading feedback from the demo last year, and I intend to learn more.

Oh, and if you like it, please do write a review, that'd be a great help...

A side note, for those of you who played the demo of the game from half a year ago:
A whole lot has changed...

I received tons and tons of feedback, and did my best to address all of it. One of the most common notes I saw was that people didn't find the movement system (jumping, climbing, etc.) satisfying, or it didn't work as expected. Since the demo, I have completely reworked the movement system. Now, there is finer mid-air control, variable jump height and jump-button-press leniency. Also, climbing walls is also much faster and more satisfying now than it was before.

Countless other features have changed since then, so expect a very different (and hopefully much more enjoyable) experience!

Thanks for all the support and patience,

Micah
