The major feature added to the game here is the Random Event Generator, which basically allows you to create custom random events for your game world which can impact workers and the game world as a whole. In the future, this will be fleshed out even further, allowing for other random events and effects to happen. I want to shout out a few great mod makers in the workshop who have been using the public beta to create a whole heap of random events, which are all easily imported into existing saves and game worlds via the in-game editor:
