Ironcast 1.1 Update is now live!

Good day, Commanders! The Ironcast 1.1 update is finally here. We've got loads of new features, balance tweaks and usability improvements for you. I won't say much more as the notes speak for themselves! A big thanks goes out to all of you who sent us bug reports and feedback over the last few months. We couldn't have created this update without your support.

Ironcast 1.1 Update

Improvements:
  • Fixed game hang when activating the Steam overlay while the loading screen is open.
  • Fixed issue when Steam overlay is activated while on the settings screen in mission.
  • Missing Localisation on weapon tooltip now fixed.
  • Fixed error in dialogue of mission "Pursuit of glory".
  • The missions presented on the mission map are now correctly saved when quitting the game.
  • Scrap nodes now correctly spawn in boss battles (not being included actually broke the balance of these battles as long chains became far too common).
  • Fixed an issue that could cause your Ironcast to not start with full coolant at the start of a mission.
  • Fixed the "Remaining Turns" Objective in the mission "Search and Secure".
  • Fixed the mission "Godspeed", which was giving out Shields on completion instead of Drives.
  • Fixed minor spelling and grammar mistakes.
  • Fixed an error in the mission "The Spoils of war" that would cause a gameover instead of a mission fail on loss.
  • Fixed an error with the mission "Half-Cocked" which did not correctly repair your Ironcast on completion.
  • The achievements "Untouchable", "Reckless Victory" and "Against all odds" will now trigger correctly if earned in a boss battle.
New Features:
  • The weapon comparison tooltip now shows your weapon A and weapon B side by side.
  • Campaign saving has been improved. Campaign save will now only be deleted once the mission is in progress, and re-saved as soon as the mission ends.
  • The "Quit to title" option has been changed to "End Campaign", allowing you to forfeit the rest of your current campaign and claim global XP for your progress.
  • Hovering over the resource bars in battle will now showing a new tooltip, show the current and max amount of each resource.
  • The max amount of each resource is now showing in both the Hangar and the "Ironcast Upgrades" section of the Workshop.
  • If there is a campaign to load, the "Continue" button will be highlighted instead of "New Game".
  • A Bonus has been added for completing missions quickly. For each turn remaining when a mission is completed, 10 war assets will be rewarded.
Abilities and Augmentations:
  • Active abilities and Passive Augmentations can now be unequipped.
  • The family of abilities that gather nodes (e.g. Gather Repair) will no longer trigger abilities that require matching a certain number of nodes.
  • Additional Shot - cooldown increased from 5 turns to 6.
  • Node swap abilities - turn cooldown increased from 6 to 10.
  • The ability "Accuracy Booster" now correctly gives a 5% boost to weapon accuracy.
  • The active ability "Crippling Signal" has been changed to now half the enemys evasion for 2 turns.
  • The Passive Augmentation "Combination Master" has been changed to now give a 25% chance of spawning a Link node after a match of 10+ nodes.
  • The passive augmentation "Overdrive Oracle" has been changed to now give a 25% chance of spawning an Overdrive node after a match of 10+ nodes.
  • The cooldown of the active ability "Leech life" has been increased to 5 turns.
  • The cooldown of the active ability "Repair Hull" has been increased to 4 turns.
Enemy Ironcast:
  • All enemies have access to MK4 and MK5 systems 1-2 missions earlier. MK5 systems are now more commonly used by end-game enemies.
  • Titan Ironcast and Juggernaut Steamtanks have had their health significantly increased.
  • Lightly armoured Ironcast have had their health reduced.
  • Both bosses have had their shields tweaked. They now have stronger protection at lower stacks but maximum defence value is unchanged.
  • Both bosses have received changes to their "rapid fire" weapons. Players would often destroy their "heavy hitter" weapon before completely ignoring the rapid fire weapon. We've reduced the number of shots and upped the damage per shot of each weapon to offer an additional threat.
  • Bosses have had their health slightly increased, to compensate for the new War Asset rewards for completing a mission with turns remaining.
Weapons and systems:
  • Shotcannon damage reduced to compensate for such a boost from Overdrive.
  • Heavy cannon damage reduced to make it more of the Jack of all trades that it was meant to be.
  • Rare weapons now cost 2 coolant to fire, up from 1.
  • Dense shields have had around a 20% protection decrease at all levels (for both friendly and enemy Ironcast).
Thanks for reading and enjoy the 1.1 update. Daniel and the development team.

Good day, and Happy Holidays to you all! We've got quite a decent number of changes in today's update, fixing some of the issues and addressing the feedback we've received so far during the beta. Thank you for your continued support; some of the following would not have been done if it weren't for the emails and in-game bug submissions from you guys.

  • Objective Panel now shows mission name
  • Clicking on "next" while dialogue is typing out will cause it to appear all at once (clicking next again will move to next item)
  • Fixed spacing in large title font
  • Signature abilities/passives now appear as such in their tooltips
  • When maxed out global unlocks, XP left no longer appears as "0/0"
  • Various fixes to broken active abilities and passive boosters (including the ones associated with Ares Powell and Walter H Kylock)
  • Workshop no longer shows blueprints that have been built
  • Selecting a target in the target subsystem panel now closes the panel
  • Enemy coolant bar particle effect no longer triggers on player coolant use
  • Fixed some sprite flickering on the first Boss' Ironcast
  • ESC now hides dialogues and activates sensible actions (pause/back/quit) in game screens
  • Boss 2 is now offset slightly to the right
  • Fixed bug with first boss nearly always dropping Drives
  • Added Dialogue skip button

  • Fixed AI overheating on salvage missions and causing player to fail the mission

Beta Build 3: Patch notes

Hello all. Today's beta build update is purely designer changes and game balance tweaks. Bug fixes and programmer based changes will come next week. Here's what's new:

  • Increased enemy health increase per mission to 12% (from 6%), but reduced the fixed health increase per mission from 30 to 25. Should make the end-game missions harder but the earlier missions slightly easier.
  • Increased Juggernaut and Titan health by 1000 (they're not designed to die in missions).
  • Increased 2nd boss' Plasma Cannon weapon damage by 20 (from 200-220 to 220-240).
  • Reduced scrap boost and XP boost on Global Unlock levels from 5% to 2%.
  • Reduced level up HP boost on Global unlock levels from 5 to 3.
  • Lengthened the Global Unlock curve but lowered the initial amount needed to level (level 2 lowered from 20,000 to 15,000, level 40 raised from 137,000 to 232,000). Should mean that newer players unlock the juicy content faster, but the later ranks are unlocked a little slower.
  • Lowered the mission number from when all enemies have access to MK5 weapons and systems. Should make the end-game a little tougher.
  • Added green highlight particles to "Next" button in dialogue screens.
That's all for now. Get testing!

Inspired by Victorian era science fiction writers such as H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, Ironcast is set in an exciting alternative history; a time when refined men and women in top hats and bonnets commanded gigantic walking war machines, laying waste to the enemies of the British Empire! Take control of a 7 meter tall walking vehicle called an Ironcast and face off against an invading force of enemy Ironcast in order to defend 1880's Victorian England.

Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast's various weapons and systems. You must choose how to spend these nodes wisely, either offensively in order to cripple and destroy your opponents, or defensively, if they suspect a barrage of incoming weapons fire is due.

Features:

  • Turn based strategy combat set against a rich and interesting alternate 1880's history.
  • Roguelite campaign mode where death is permanent but with persistent rewards from one game session to the next. Drive back the invading forces and press forth for victory!
  • Hand painted art style.
  • Inspired by the steampunk genre and Victorian science fiction.
  • Loot new technology and upgrade abilities from the wrecks of fallen enemies.
  • Customise your Ironcast with a range of unique weapons and defensive systems. Over 50 different unlockable items will ensure an almost limitless number of combinations.
  • Passive Augmentations allow players to modify their Ironcast's weapons and abilities.
  • For PC, Mac and Linux.
