This is, by no means, a regular update, but since the bbooru.fun domain expired after we acquired their site; downloading mods from the old fetch URL no longer works.
THE NEW MODS MENU IS CURRENTLY VERY BUGGY
We believe having a slightly buggy menu is better than having downloads that do not work at all, so for now, I'm pushing this patch. However, we'll quickly fix all of the small annoying bugs in the next regular update and make it a lot more intuitive to use. I'll also be updating tags and aliases to make it easier to find the mods you're looking for and a way to find mods by creators and by the title of the mod. Included with the improved mod browser, we'll also be getting ready to implement the ability for mod creators to add cutscenes. This update will allow for full storytelling experiences and custom campaigns to be played and shared amongst players.
Happy Halloween! This is our first-ever seasonal update for Beat Banger, and we plan to do more like this! No gameplay elements have been changed, but some of the scenes have been decorated, along with some sound design changes! On top of the spooky theme, there are also a few minor UI improvements. Our next prerogative is getting volume 2 started so we can get the levels out much faster than we got Dawna's level out for volume 1 So keep your eyes open for updates, and check out the development channel on our Discord to see what's happening daily!

This means the next we'll be working on the levels for Volume 2! We still have more story to tell as we dive into more of a slice of life vibe with the Beat Banger crew.
Level editor
The level editor is getting substantial attention put towards it in an attempt to make modding even easier. The latest development is the addition of an image trimmer / video editor that you can use to take any piece of media and turn it into a loopable Sprite sheet capable of being used in your mods!
Revamped SFX
Level sound effects have been improved. You can now cycle through multiple files rather than being restricted to one, which should allow for more variation when it comes to foley in your levels. We've also partially implemented this into the main levels as well and we'll continue to improve upon the sound design in the game.

Changes
Fixes
- Fixed Gale's missing cowgirl animation
- Fixed Gallery Z-index errors
Sorry for the wait. It's been a little tricky to get used to the new swing of things now that our art pipeline is different and with the addition of merchandise. It's been a journey figuring out how to time manage everything. But now we're steadily settling into a more stable workflow, and we should be able to get future updates out semi-monthly as planned. This update is relatively small, but it paves the way for us to add some planned features, such as the Gachapon feature And the ability to remove Jasmine's clothes
The Shop Has A New Look
The shop has been updated to be more compact and readable on the steam deck. We've reverted the category menu controls back to using the left and right arrows on your keyboard, and the Q and E keys will now change which section of the shop is focused. This change will allow you to access the ability to change Jasmine's outfit and will allow you to access the Gachapon system! Jasmine's outfit variants are in the game files but are not unlockable yet. Expect an update on that in a few days. The Gachapon system will come later as it is more complex.

We've officially launched our character standee merch line. As of posting this announcement, most of the standees Are already sold out, but we'll be restocking soon, so please keep an eye out on our store page at https://store.bunfan.com/

Testing your level will change the pause menu to include a "Return to editor" button, allowing you to switch between the editor and the preview easily! Some other small bug fixes are also included.
A Shift In Gears
The original Artist and Animator for Beat Banger, Komdog, will no longer be doing any drawn artwork or animation for the game. As we shift to new talent, please give a bit of time to get everyone trained and up to the quality standard and style that Beat Banger currently has. Mod Browsing
We finally added a mod browser to the game to allow you to play mods directly uploaded to BBooru. Remember that Bunfan staff does not curate any of these mods, nor do we run the site so that things may be unstable for the time being. If you experience any issues when accessing online mods, please report a bug. If you encounter contentious content while browsing, let a Bunfan staff member know. You can reach any of us on our Discord server.
Input Layout Rework
We have changed the game's default inputs for a more ergonomic gameplay experience. We've also added an option to the settings menu that will enable you to change the controller icons within the game to any console type you prefer. You can play with Xbox Buttons even with a PlayStation controller.

But remember that this may only work for some legacy mods, as we're still working on this feature.

Stat Tracking (Beta)
Beat Banger will start tracking stats like how many levels you've played to aid in unlocking achievements. These stats only start tracking your achievement progress when we add them to the game's code, So the number of levels you've beaten, for example, will only now start being recorded and stored in your saved data!
Mod Downloading (Beta)
You can now download mods from online! The best site to use for this is bbooru.fun. You can copy the download link of the mod you wish to download and paste it into the mod menu to download. Note that only zip files work with the built-in mod extractor, so check the link you've copied to ensure it's compatible. Dragging and dropping files into your mods folder still works. Use that to download any mods that aren't zip files.
Mod Exporting (Beta)
The level creator now allows you to export your completed mods as zip files! This feature will ensure you always have your mod correctly formatted for automatic downloads and drag-and-drop extraction! We'll soon add more level creation features that simplify modpack creation, so stay tuned for more updates! We've added a lot more polish and visual improvements as well! We'll continue trying to make Beat Banger the best it can be!

It looks like some people's saved data got borked. We found the source of the problem. TLDR Beat Banger was using the name of the current mod pack and the current level to try and locate the saved data; this meant that if you changed the name of your mod pack or your level, then it could not properly access the save data in your app data folder. Mod packs and acts now use an md5 hash As a permanent fingerprint that your mod pack can use to identify its location in your saved data. So, long story short, you won't lose any more of your saved data if you leave the act ID and the level ID untouched.
Additions
Added Cathy Act / Level IDs Added Zoe Act / Level IDs Added Gale Act / Level IDs Added Claire Act / Level IDs Added Dawna Act / Level IDs

We've got a relatively sizable update this time around. It's more of a feature rather than a level update, but don't worry; Dawna's level will drop soon enough.
More Frequent Updates
Before we get into the patch notes, I want to make a quick announcement. We've decided to increase the amount of updates we push within a given timeframe. Nowwe'll be pushing updates semi-monthly, which means you'll get an updated version of Beat Banger with bug fixes and new features two times each month! These will happen at the beginning of every month and in the middle of every month.
Level Creator (Beta)
Inside the extras menu is now an option to go to a level creator! This does most of the work required to set up a new mod. So, creating levels from scratch should be more accessible than ever. The level creator also allows you to drag and drop gifs, MP4s, and sprite sheets directly into the editor, cutting out the work of finding a program to painstakingly create a sprite sheet in the correct format at the correct size.
Easy Mod Loading
Loading mods has never been more accessible. You can now drag and drop the .zip file of a mod you've downloaded directly into the mods menu; it should do the rest for you! We'll eventually make it so Beat Banger can automatically zip mods you've created to allow other users to upload them to their clients quickly.
There are many more quality-of-life changes in bug fixes you'll notice when playing in this new version, and we've got a lot more coming soon!

Claire's level is finally here. Some things will need to be hot-fixed over the next few days since the game is still effectively in Early Access. But Claire's level is ready to be played. Aside from adding this new level, we've successfully re-coded the entire game from scratch in the BRAND NEW Godot 4 engine, a vastly improved version of the engine we had made Beat Banger in initially. This will bring various performance and quality-of-life improvements to make your experience more enjoyable. We've also reworked how global menus function by creating a hot menu accessible anytime by hitting the Escape key on your keyboard or the start button on your respective controller. This will allow you to edit your settings or access essential menus more easily across the game. While incomplete, we have successfully implemented a level editor. At the moment, editing notes is the only functionality, but modders no longer need to download a separate tool to update their charts, and soon, they'll be able to create entire levels without ever having to leave the game. Though this is a public release, We're still in Early Access, so there may be bugs here and there. Luckily, players now have the ability to report bugs quickly by pressing the "report a bug" button inside the game's hot menu, which will take you to our GitHub page, allowing us to, with your help, improve the quality of Beat Banger over time. Here are a few of the changes in this build: Fixes:

We finally got Lovense support integrated into Beat Banger. To access it, go into the options and click on "Lovense Mode" (Under the Game Section). There will be instructions for connecting your Lovense Devices in the pop-up menu. You'll need to download the Lovense Connect app and ensure your phone is connected to your computer's wifi network.
Note: The Lovense API sends POST requests over your local network to communicate with your devices. You may experience a slight delay depending on your internet speed. To fix this, we'll also be working on integrating the Buttplug.io web socket protocol for more accurate and high-speed vibration communication in the future.

KeyBinds Softlock.
One of the most significant issues in the game was that you couldn't change your key binds during the game scene. But that has been fixed, and the notes will update dynamically in the level after you've applied the keys.
Logging Function (For Nerds)
By pressing F4, you can now view the engine's output console in real-time. This will make debugging easier for the Beat Banger community and myself. This will help improve the accuracy of locating the root sources of bugs when community members create bug reports.

More Notes
Prologue will now play every time you start Cathy's level. This will be in place until the theater menu is complete. The theater menu will allow you to watch all cutscenes you've unlocked.
There have been many performance improvements to the game so far. We're still fleshing out a few things for individuals with lower-ending computers, but we're doing our best to try and get the game to run as smoothly as possible on every system.
Note Jitter
Some users have been experiencing note jittering when playing levels. This is due to a limitation with the Godot engine. We're currently finding ways to work around this. Thanks to one of our community members named "DoodleSurface," We found a way to smooth out the motion of the notes slightly, so hopefully, it will work out better from now on.
Patch Notes
- Added Newcro to UI Credits
- Slight Improvements to note jitter
- Fixed controller not skipping cutscenes
- Fixed Disappearing Notes, Incorrect Enumerator
- Fixed Tiny Screen Bug
- Fixed Fullscreen Setting Not Saving
- Fixed some gallery images showing up pixelated
We've gotten quite a few bug reports coming in, and they've all been patched out pretty quickly. Here's a quick update on what's been changed.
Black Screen Bug
A few users have been getting a black screen when starting the game. I haven't been able to reproduce this bug myself, but I have found a potential solution. It turns out this happens because the Godot Engine doesn't work well with Forced MSAA settings on the Nvidia graphics card. To solve this, I've changed the stretch mode that the game uses. So hopefully, this won't happen anymore, But if it does, please report it over on our Discord server: discord.gg/bunfan
Patch Notes
- Fixed mod packs not running if there's only 1
- Fixed controller not skipping cutscene
- Changed Stretch Mode (Migh Fix Black Screen Bug?)
- Optimized screen transition FX
- Removed Larger Resolutions
- Added settings node descriptions
We've fixed some of the immediate issues that could cause problems when playing the game, there are a few more we still need to fix, but please don't hesitate to report any bugs you find in the bug reports channel over on our discord server. discord.gg/bunfan
