Update 1.1 specifically for the Turn-Based RPG Festival (30.09.2024)


Hello. I have fixed the JRPG mode and made the game a bit more convenient.

  • In JRPG mode, allies HP is saved between battles, and after a battle, they recover 10 HP.
  • Allies HP is now displayed in the HUD.
  • Fixed a bug where allies did not take damage from the spikes on skeleton shields.
  • Added sounds for allies.
  • Previously, in JRPG battles, backstab would randomly cause an ally to skip a turn.
  • Now, in JRPG battles, the static shield recharges.
  • The health bar of a dead enemy used to block the health bar of the enemy that jumps into its place. Now it is removed earlier and does not obstruct.

  • Descriptions of sword and shield passives, as well as the effects of different ingots, have been added to the abilities menu.
  • Fixed a bug where the HUD would disappear.
  • During buying and selling, if there are still items left, the same window remains active and switches to another if the item is out of stock.
  • When inlaying, the selected socket rotates and pulses to make it more noticeable.
  • The unnecessary tab with swords no longer distracts when working with the magic wand.
  • If an ingot is accidentally selected during socketing, the window does not reset but waits for the player to select a magic stone.

  • Previously, the grid highlight was ugly, drawn on walls and everything else. Now, in most places, it is drawn only on the floor.
  • Some players complained about sudden death from falling. I removed these spots but left some so that enemies could shoot at the player, as it affects AI behavior.
  • Crystals no longer cause panic if shot at.
  • Fixed a bug where the wands backstab ability did not recharge.
  • Added missing screens to the keymasters dialogues when he identifies keys.
  • Finally, fixed a bug in the finale where enemies would aggro too early.
  • Added sounds to crystals and changed the sound of mana drops.
  • Added a visual effect to strong skeletons with halberds to make them immediately distinguishable.

Great news! Less than a week left until GetToTheGate releases.

The game will be released on August 19th Ready to wander the dungeons and streets of the dead city, search for treasures, collect magic stones and champion medallions.
If you played the demo version and are used to a Western-style dungeon crawler, you will be surprised that some levels have hybrid game mechanics from the Eastern ones. Maria will fight in a team with partners. These levels come right after the demo. Oh, and the achievements look so cute.

Hello dungeoncrawler lover! Demo of the GetToTheGate is already available in Steam NextFest! In this demo you will be able to fight two bosses, loot a lot of treasures and solve a lot of puzzles. And in the just released version of the demo, a new route with a new artifact has become available.

The Palace is now open. From it you can get to the castle and open treasuries along the way. The most interesting thing is more puzzles and rare keys. Dont forget to collect as many magic stones as you can, some puzzles can only be solved with the help of skills.

Artifact


The new artifact is a shield that deals damage to enemies who attack you. If you want to ruin the surprise, here's where to find it. It is located in the treasury right next to the palace. To get there you need to buy a key and go through the labyrinth in the garden.
Skills In the game menu you can see all the skills so that there are no difficulties with choosing yout build. I also added a free magic stone in the starting city. Looks like I overestimated the power of the spells, so I'll buff them in the future and I'll make it cheaper to upgrade magic stones.

Demo!

In the first level, Maria needs to reach the castle and defeat the boss. There are 5 side quests, a lot of dungeons, treasuries, a mini-Boss in the magicians tower, and Leaderboards.
Leaderboards? Yes, because Maria loses mana and returns to base to regain it. I think it would be cool to compete to see who would spend the least mana on the way to the Boss. Someone will want to explore the level, farm, and try different builds. Such a player will likely find the boss more prepared. Other players will want to speedrun the game and Maria's strength will be minimal. Therefore, each boss has two separate leaderboards: 1) how much mana was spent during the last run; 2) all mana spent for the entire game; The demo is available for Windows. Stay tuned.

What's New?

Hi, Maximan is with you. Its been a warm winter. I am preparing demo-version, so anyone can try the game for free. And I have something to share with you. Ah, Id like to do everything quickly, but I planned a lot of things and the list of tasks is growing.

City of Ghosts


The first and most notable change is the City of Ghosts. This is the main location. The main character constantly returns here between dungeon runs. The events of the game take place in the World of the dead. Somewhere far away there is Elysium, where the souls enjoy their death. But this is just a town next to the portal. Even though ghosts dont care about life, they continue to enjoy things, they liked while they were alive. Spirits can help to upgrade weapons and Maria can trade with them.
Almost everything has changed, except for the portal and the booth with the ghost-withard. Previously, there were only two imaginary rooms with merchants, but now it is a neat little town. Also, I changed the terrain. But not only ghosts live here.

Pluto champions


Well, almost champions. When Maria enters this world, she is not the only one alive person here, These heroes want to pass Plutos test to become champions and receive his blessing.
Most of the candidates are Hellenic heroes Roman and Greek. The test is to pass through an island with dungeons filled with the undead. And reach the only portal to the world of the living. Poor Maria has to go through the same as the heroes who have been training all their lives. You can meet these guys on the island and in dungeons. They are connected to the main story, but, anyway, Maria will have to do most of the dungeons by herself.

Advanced waypoints


Probably the most important, but unnoticeable change is the waypoint system (the cells along which a player moves). Previously, I had to build levels so that the waypoints didnt stand one over the other. When I created this system, I thought that Id get by with the usual two-dimensional level. It makes no sense to make a game of tangled maze levels. In any case, I can break one level into two. By the way, therefore, the towers consist of an external staircase and a platform in the center. No floors, no bridges. I also had to make the wall thicker and separate some places with decorative columns and pedestals.
But now I can place waypoints one on top of the other and they wont conflict. The most amazing thing is that this change fits very easily and without problems. Now I can make towers with floors. I promise that Ill not make too complicated 3D mazes. I hate it when some games do bad vertical levels, so Ill just try to avoid this bad design. In general, expect more interesting levels.

    • Get to the treasure or open a shortcut while you still have mana. When mana runs out, Maria will panic and run to safety, and the undead will respawn.
    • Which move will save more mana and health in combat? The game is turn-based, so you have time to think. But the enemies are not stupid, they will pull up Maria and quicky surround her.
    • Maria can cast spells. Her main tool is magic stones. When inserted into a magical wand or sword, the stones let you use new spells.
    • In the world of the dead, there is a city with peaceful spirits who will trade with you and help you improve your weapons.
