This is a minor update which addresses a few lingering issues with Absolute Drift.
Improvements:
- Game Audio mutes when minimizing the game.
- Scraping the ground doesn't kill the multiplier anymore.
- Wall tapping doesn't kill the multiplier as easily now. (However, if you wall-tap very hard, it will).
- Added a quick restart button to the controls.
- Added a clutch button to the controls.
- Made the Hoonivan slightly larger to reduce its competitive advantage.
- Updated the game engine to Unity 5.6.
- Updated the input system, which should hopefully fix Win 10 + Xbox controller bugs.
- Added more Sake.
- Controller vibration continuing after an event ends.
- Car momentarily starting in reverse when restarting an event.
- A couple missions in World 5 free-roam that weren't consistently detecting spins.
- Falling through the level in World 5 if you hit a certain place at a certain angle.

The Zen Edition has been out for three days, and there have been many new players, along with many bugs to fix.
Here is the latest patch and I'm working to fix new bugs as they come up!
Improvements:
- Added controller logging for better controller troubleshooting
- Can have more than one controller/input device plugged in (ie. steering wheel + gamepad)
- Added WASD controls. (sorry I forgot!)
- Game engine updated to Unity 5.3.6p2
- Fixed controllers vibrating if the car crashes right before the pause screen or on game over.
- PS4 controllers should work on SteamOS now.
- Minor bug where the Lighthouse in World 5 in Free-Roam had an incorrect collider.
- OSX: Crash when entering midnight events. Look here for updates.
- OSX: crash on startup. This has been temporarily fixed on some machines by skipping the Splash Screen.
- Some people have reported problems completing The Completionist achievement.

The game engine for Absolute Drift has been updated to the latest version which should bring more performance improvements. Also, the input system has been changed which should fix the Xbox One controller bugs. Please try it out and report any bugs in the forum! To Enable the Beta: 1.Go to your Steam Library and right click on Absolute Drift 2. Select “Properties” from the drop-down menu. 3. Select the “Betas” tab 4. Select the beta option in the drop-down menu. NOTE: If you get a crash on startup, delete the local content and then install the game again. Improvements:
- Upgraded the game engine from Unity 4 to 5. The new version has performance improvements, such as an upgraded physics system.

Absolute Drift was at PAX Prime and I got to see many players try the game. I even got to see a few people who have beat it which was pretty awesome.
The most notable change is a difficulty setting. The default controls are Hard.
New Difficulty Setting.
Choose the difficulty in the Tutorial.
New Resolution Setting.
Please try the new changes and post up in the forums with feedback.

Last weekend I showed Absolute Drift at PAX Prime in Seattle and got to see many players try the game. I even got to see a few people who have beat it which was pretty awesome. Just made an update to the beta branch with some minor improvements and fixes. You will have to opt-in to the [beta] branch in the steam client in order to access it. There's been a lot of feedback about the camera being too shaky/wobbly/jerky.
I've taken this into account and have updated the camera to be MUCH smoother.
The distance it looks in front of the car is now based on speed. So if the car is travelling slowly, the car will be in the middle of the screen and there will be much less wobbling.
And when the car goes faster, the camera will look further in front of the car to give a better view.

Standing Issues: -There is still an issue where the audio will cut out randomly when you start a level, I will be looking at this issue asap. -Camera: A lot of players are saying that the camera is a little too shaky, especially when doing spins. I am looking into this. -A few people are having issues with controllers on various OS's. Check this thread for fixes: Controller Fixes -disabled vibration on Windows as it may be the source of startup crashes. Improvements: -lowered the volume of the "Go!" chime in events. -tweaked the "Jump Over the Crane" mission in W3. -tweaked the Turbo wastegate/blow-off valve to be easier on the ears. -skidmarks now fade out. Fixes: -fixed the issue with monitors with high refresh rates (120hz+) not getting drift points. -fixed a potential progress-hindering bug with Clipping Points where they would stop working if you hit them. This would hinder progress in Tutorials if you hit all of them. -[Linux] fixed an issue where the Right Trigger would be unresponsive on gamepads. (We had to hack some files, thanks to player Alfa-Omega for the fix). -disabled controller vibration on Windows as it may be the source of some startup crashes.

This week I was mainly bugfixing and polishing the game. The game is nearing completion and the Release Date is July 29th. Check out the new music by the artist NYTE. Improvements:
- Added an option to toggle steering assistance.
- Made the wall collision force threshold slightly higher for levels.
- Added 11 songs by the artist NYTE.
- Reduced the number of missions in World 2.
- Fixed a few invisible wall issues.

Nothing too exciting in terms of features this week, except for adding Steam Achievements & Trading Cards. Mainly just polishing the existing game and fixing bugs. Improvements:
- Added the buttons R & F to shift up/down respectively.
- Added a turbo blowoff sound effect when coming off the throttle for all cars.
- Added some more steering assistance to make the car easier to control.
- Made the gear display flash red when it's redlining.
- Redesigned some of the drift tracks to be less tight.
- Changed the color of the landscape in Free-Roam to be darker grey
- Did another pass on the lighting and color correction.
- Fixed the bug where the manual gear display would be displayed after pressing pausing the game in free-roam.
- Manual gear shifts are now ignored when the player does not have control of the car.
- Fixed the bug where the Music Song display would show up in the wrong place when resizing the screen.

The main feature for this week is the revamped scoring system, which now has a score multiplier for drifting without crashing.
Improvements:
- More car colors.
- Gave more final engine sounds to each car.
- Added many new/improved audio effects for scoring.
- Free-roam: Optimized the mountain meshes.
- Levels: Made all Mountain drift levels wider.
- Levels & Free-roam: Optimized all the Mtn Drift & regular drift level walls, this should fix the lag issues.
- Levels: Added a score multiplier which increases as you get more points. It will expire upon crashing or not drifting for a certain amount of time.
- Driftkhana: Donuts are now worth 5000pts, Spin-Zones are worth 3000pts.
- Added a "Exit to Desktop" button in the Free-Roam pause menu.
- All scores are now formatted with commas for readability.
- Fixed the bug where Clipping Points would sometimes stay white.
- Fixed a problem with the rev limiter not limiting properly.
- Fixed the issue with Spin-Zones & Donuts where they would suddenly expand to their complete state instead of smoothly expanding.

This week's update contains the new Car Customization feature!
I know that I said I wasn't going to put it in the game, but last weekend I watched this video of a Camo Nissan GT-R and said to myself: "It must be done". And so it is done.
For each car you can choose from:
-Five colors -> let me know if you have more color requests
-Three skins (some of them are placeholder skins at the moment)
You can customize cars in free-roam by driving through PAINT gates. These will select a random color & skin for you car. Inspired by the drive-through paint-shop in GTA-2

-Added a car called "Missile". Complete with bash bars & thrashed headlights.
-Optimized all car meshes -> should improve performance a little bit.

This week's update contains the 99%-complete free-roam area!
Many of the mountain roads were widened both in free-roam and in the levels.
There are also a few UI changes based on player feedback.
IMPORTANT: The car controls have undergone a major change.
It is easier to hold larger drifts with more angle and also harder to spin out.
I think they're way better and way more awesome, but i could be wrong.

This week consisted of polishing up the levels & beginning to do a final pass of the free-roam areas. I made some changes to the camera that will hopefully make drifting a bit easier by letting you see things further in front of you so that you have more time to react. There are still some things I want to try with the camera, but let me know what you think of it now. Next week the free-roam areas should be finished and I'll start on my to-do list for the cars. Improvements: -Improved World 1 & World 2 missions. -Made World 1 & World 2 more open->there are less things to hit now. :) -Added 1 Mtn Drift Track. -Made all Mtn Drift Tracks wider. -Did another visual pass on all levels. -The ferris wheel in World 3 spins now. -Made the following changes the camera to make drifting easier: -Camera looks further ahead of the car. -The default FOV is now 70. Lots of new UI stuff this week. Including a re-done event selection screen. New Features: -the event selection has been totally redone -you can now select your car from the main menu in the event selection screen. I may put a separate option for this in the main menu, let me know what you think if you think this is a good idea! -leaderboards now display more entries. -added the ability to change songs by pressing 'tab' or 'R1'(PS4) or 'Right Bumper'(Xbox). -added the option to reset all progress. -you now return to where you chose to play a level from, so if you chose an event from the event selection screen, you will return to there after you are finished.
