Hey everyone,
It's Alexandra from Kitfox with a Moon Hunters update. I'm sad to announce that Unity cut off the service for their networking implementation which means that the Moon Hunters online servers have been cut off effective July 7th. We unfortunately do not have the resources to re-implement it as it would take significant time and resources to rebuild the game for Unity's requirements. This means that the game is now only local co-op, with the possibility of playing online via Steam Remote Play. For instructions and FAQ for how to use Steam Remote Play, click here.
We understand this is disappointing to many of you who loved Moon Hunters for it's online co-op experience. Kitfox was only just a studio of 6 when we were building an online multiplayer game for the first time. It was a huge challenge for us, and we are just as saddened to see that it's something we are unable to preserve in it's original form. We are thankful there is still a way to access online co-op but we know it's not the same.
We have updated our storefront information to reflect the changes to the game and we encourage anyone who bought the game recently and wanted to use online co-op to please consider trying Steam Remote Play or request a refund. Thank you to everyone for understanding and please continue to enjoy this special game.
The Art of Moon Hunters
In some happier news, we have made The Art of Moon Hunters available for the first-time ever on Steam. Back in the day when Moon Hunters came out, there wasn't a way for us to upload art books as DLC, but now we can, so we did! It's written from the perspective of an archaeologist delving into the legends of an ancient world. It includes concept art that have never been published anywhere else.
