Hey Moon Hunters!
It's been awhile since we've talked here, but we thought you might want to hear that Kitfox has announced another PC-first title, in the PC Gaming Showcase last weekend around Summer Games Fest. We showed off a whole gameplay trailer for Streets of Fortuna, with glimpses of thievery, cooking, flirting, and more:
Plus, as we've touted elsewhere, Tarn Adams, the co-creator of Dwarf Fortress is consulting for us on the design and architecture, to assist the simulation and procedural generation of Fortuna being as deep and rich as we hope it can be. We still have a lot of work left to do until we get to even just the initial release, but maybe this is also a Kitfox project for many years after that too.
But if you're looking for a taste of a Moon Huntersy game(?), maybe take a break and try out this little chatroom app we made in a week over the winter solstice, last December. You'll need someone to host a server but then you and your friends can enjoy a campfire, snowballs, and meditation in [url=https://kitfoxgames.itch.io/campfire-chat]Campfire Chat:
We also FINALLY put live this little Moon Huntersy jam game(?) some Kitfoxes made some years ago, [url=https://kitfoxgames.itch.io/astronomicon]Astronomicon:
Neither is quite a traditional game of winning or losing per se, but we think they're fun toys, especially if you're missing the stars or the ancient, sometimes-snowy worlds we made previously. We'd love to revisit one or both of these, someday.
Best wishes,
Tanya & Kitfox
Hey Stargazers, We all know how important it is to keep our oceans safe and clean for our underwater friends. Whales and dolphins are especially at risk of dangerous fishing practices and pollution. This is why we are partnering with the WDC, Whale and Dolphin conservation to create a bundle of our games with 20% of the sales going directly to charity. Included in the bundle is Pupperazzi, Moon Hunters, Boyfriend Dungeon and Shrouded Isle. And to sweeten the deal, youll get 15% off if you own one (or buy them all at once)! https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/33081/Kitfox_Oceans_Day_Bundle/ Together we can still help them recover and flourish and they can help us reconnect with the wild, and repair the damage we have caused. Thank you in advance for supporting this excellent cause! -Alexandra
Single-player or co-op, horror or cute, romantic or funny, roguelike or mystery -- we have something for everyone! Starting from this very moment, the whole Kitfox catalogue is on sale to celebrate the company's founding, a whole nine years ago.
We'll also be streaming schedule with our developers and special community guests, from today and going all week! Our plan is to stream most days at 2pm Eastern time, either here on Steam or on Twitch, with this schedule:
So come with all your questions and pick up a few cool indies for your library!
-Alexandra + Tanya
it's been 5 years since Moon Hunters released. Our little game has grown into a big, healthy community across the world, and we're so glad that it connected with people.
Moon Hunters has had over 500,000 copies sold and over 600,000 hours played. 180,000 people have finished the game at least once, on Steam alone... and only 37.9% of those were based in North America! We've loved seeing friends play together and get to know each other better, making choices together.
And so, we celebrate! Until Monday, if you own ANY Kitfox game, you can get a 15% discount on ALL our other games -- and pick up many of them for an additional 75% off or more!
In the past five years we've released a wide variety of titles, so surely at least one of them would make a great gift for someone in your life. Whether you have friends that are into cults, tribes, Henry VIII, or murder mysteries, we have all of them covered for just a few bucks each.
We have other announcements to share soon, but in the meantime, thank you for all of your attention and support as we've grown and developed as a studio. Here's to many more years to come.
Warmly,
Tanya and the Kitfoxes
It's time to dance, fellow hunters, for the Goddesses have blessed us again!
All Kitfox games are on sale, and at a special discount for folks like you, who already own Moon Hunters. For example, the storybook strategy game Six Ages is 25%, but through the Kitfox bundle, you would get an additional 15% off!
There's only a few days left to make good on the full discount, so, be bold!
Best wishes this year to you and your family,
Tanya and the Kitfox clan

In times of global uncertainty and change, the only way to get out of this tough situation is to go through it - together.
Kitfox Games is partnering with the United Nations Foundation to raise money for the World Health Organizations COVID-19 response.
From April 10th - 13th, all of Kitfoxs profits from our game sales (85% off!) will go to the WHO COVID-19 Relief Fund. More info about it here. Any of these game purchases will contribute to the fund: Moon Hunters, The Shrouded Isle, Shattered Planet, Six Ages, and Fit For a King.
While Kitfoxs financial surplus is minimal, we know were privileged to be in a position where we can work from home and get paid. And so we felt it was important to try and give back to those who are more vulnerable or are working towards keeping us safe. We hope youll join us, either with a purchase, directly donating to a local charity, or the WHO.
Please share the sale or donation page, as every dollar will make a difference. Moments of togetherness are all the more important in times like these, and games have always been a powerful way to experience something together, but apart.
We hope you can remember to socially distance, wash your hands, and reach out to loved ones. Additionally, here are some mental health resources.
Thank you for your support and stay safe.

Last night, we revealed our newest title: Lucifer Within Us, from the creator of the Shrouded Isle. As a digital exorcist in Lucifer Within Us, youre asked to solve murders, purify the possessed, and purge their daemons. Watch the trailer and add it to your wishlist now!
Investigate timelines.
Question your suspects. Watch their movements and testimonies closely, as the reconstruction may be based on lies. Use contradictions and clues to form your own hypothesis. Who is lying and why? Who is possessed? You must decide what is the truth for yourself, based on the evidence presented.
Real mystery-solving.
No hidden plot twists, no QTEs, no random puzzles or mini-games, just you and the information. Dont just act like a detective -- BE a detective. Finding the murderer will require true understanding of the case, not just following the story.
Banish daemonic A.I.
Enter the minds of citizens to gain insight into what they dont want you to know. Dig through their subconscious and accuse the guilty in order to cast out their daemons, for the good of the Inquisition. Any damage done to a citizens psyche as a result of quarantine, exorcism, or rehabilitation is a consequence of their own immorality.
Expose the False Utopia.
Through centuries of indoctrination, humanity is taught to think pure thoughts and speak true words, untainted by falsehoods and delusions. Yet beneath this facade of purity, you find dark desires stir deep within peoples hearts, yearning for release. If you want to keep tabs on the game's development, maybe check out our Discord and the Lucifer Within Us channel, where the devs sometimes hang out with other fans of digital exorcism. Ain Soph's blessings, Tanya and the Kitfox team

Hey Hunters! A few of you have noticed Moon Hunters has been getting some frequent updates lately. We think we’ve finally finally FINALLY found the thing behind most of the lag and stuttering reports that have been sprinkling the forums. So please play the game and let us know if there’s anything up with it! There should also be major performance improvements when multiple enemies are present. Keep in mind you still need a pretty good system to run Moon Hunters. There are a few cases in which changes made the experience better for many players but potentially worse for others - we're trying to identify the cases that are left and fix them, along with other lingering known issues. If you find any problems as you play, don’t be afraid to poke us (gently!!) in the forums. If it’s about stuttering, please include these details when you report it:
- Is it a pure low framerate problem? Or does the game "freeze" a little bit from time to time? If it’s a freeze, is it a short or a long freeze?
- How frequent is it? Every half second? Every 5 seconds?
- Is the in-game time during the night or during the day?
- Does it happen more in a specific biome (ex: forest)?
- If you can do a quick test, once it starts stuttering, can you try to open the Pause menu for a few seconds and close it? Does it make a difference?

We had one more big surprise hidden in the constellations. Moon Hunters is coming to the Nintendo Switch™ console!
The Nintendo Switch™ console version will include the Eternal Echoes DLC as well as three exclusive new companions to find out in the world!
Bau, the familiar dog. (SUCH A GOOD BOY.)
Lingzhi, the familiar shroom. (Less cute in my opinion, but then again I don't like mushrooms in general. Still deserves lots of tender love and care.)
Domovoi, the familiar snow monkey. (I kinda want a hug from Domovoi. Looks fuzzy and warm.)
Single-player or local multiplayer is supported for up to 4 players, so you can download a copy for yourself (or a friend) and play Moon Hunters at home, on the go, or anywhere else your heart desires! Release date coming soon... Hunt that moon!

We still have at least 1 big announcement in the works for Moon Hunters, but since we can't talk about that quite yet, we thought you might want to see what some of the team has been up to.
The Shrouded Isle has been Jongwoo's passion and burden for the last couple of years. Perhaps those among you with an affection for the darker mythologies might enjoy this little outlet into suffering. It has a completely different artist and audio designer, but it still seems to carry a fragment of the Kitfox soul.
And thanks to those of you who joined us on our Discord channels! It's been fun to chat with you.
With joy,
Tanya, Victoria, and the rest of Kitfox

We’re adding another console to our constellation of platforms blessed by the Goddess -- Moon Hunters is now available for purchase on the Xbox One.
Xbox One users will at last be able to enjoy the world of Issaria and weave legends with their friends. Get a copy for you or a friend now and have some sweet co-op fun! (Fun fact: we designed couch co-op to be at the heart of Moon Hunters.)
In other news, we've launched a Discord server with a Moon Hunters channel!
We thought it’d be a cool way for our lil’ community to interact with us more directly, see what’s happening with our games, and maybe even get to know each other a bit (we think you’re all pretty great).
Thanks and much love as always!
Cheers,
Victoria & the Kitfox tribe

Hey Hunters! Unfortunately online games of Moon Hunters are working especially badly right now, but we're looking into it with Unity (our server hosts). We're not sure whether the problem is summer sale overload or something else. Hopefully we can find a fix very soon. Our apologies! Until then, please try out local co-op or single-player. Praying to the Goddess for speed and luck, Tanya & the Kitfox tribe

The Chinese translation is at long last out on Moon Hunters! Anything that allows people to save the moon goddess more comfortably makes us happy. That brings us to a total of 9 languages now! Thank you to our global community for the continued support and love. As for us, we're working on our newest game The Shrouded Isle (releases in August ahhh!) and of course, making sure the Moon Hunters Xbox One launch (July 19th!) goes smoothly. Cheers, Victoria & the Kitfox crew
It’s here! Finally! The big announcement we’ve been hinting at for Moon Hunters — it’s now available for pre-order on the Xbox Store for $14.99.
Better yet, the previously desktop-only Eternal Echoes DLC content is included! As a result of all the new DLC content, the Xbox One version also features six extra achievements over the PlayStation 4 version.
We’re happy to say that Moon Hunters has since fulfilled every one of its Kickstarter campaign promises, which couldn’t have been done without your patience and support! Thanks everybody!
Moon Hunters will officially be released on Xbox One on July 19th, 2017. Single-player or local multiplayer are supported, for up to 4 players, so pick up a copy (or several) to enjoy some mythology-building couch co-op… Xbox style!
Remember to keep an eye out on our Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram page for the most up-to-date news!
Catch you soon,

Hey Hunters! To celebrate bringing Moon Hunters to Japan, we've put the game on discount on Steam for the week. We're still working on fixing those pesky online disconnects, and a few other known issues, but we're having trouble and working directly with Unity to find a solution. We hope we can patch with a fix soon. Thank you for your patience. Cheers, Tanya & the Kitfox team P.S. If you're into co-op games, stay tuned for another special announcement soon...
Our translators are working hard to get the Eternal Echoes expansion translated and we hope to have the details sorted by the end of the week to patch the Portguese, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, and French translations. The eagle-eyed among you might notice some of these are already in the live build, but fixes are incoming even for those that seem finished. Thanks to everyone who's bought the game thus far -- tell your friends to pick it up before the winter sale's over! Happy holidays and a brave new year to all, Tanya & the Kitfox team
Today, owners of Moon Hunters can log in and have their files automatically upgraded with the new Eternal Echoes content. This includes:

Thanks to the Canadian Videogame Awards for hosting an excellent party last night. We were honored to vie for awards alongside truly excellent titles like Jotun, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Stories, Death Road to Canada, and Severed. You can see a nice gif of some team members living it up over on Twitter. Ultimately we ceded Best Narrative to Deus Ex and Best PC Game to Stories, but it was a battle well-fought. In case you didn't see our scheduled group event: we're hosting a celebratory livestream for the Eternal Echoes expansion launch on Monday the 21st from 2pm to 4pm, so make sure to catch us on twitch! Bring your questions, enthusiasms, and good cheer! Want to try out the new (free!) Moon Hunters expansion coming out in a couple of weeks? You can! It's slightly dangerous, but for the intrepid among you... take a deep breath... Ready? If you own Moon Hunters, and are eager to see the content no matter the costs, follow these steps: [olist]
- Start Moon Hunters
- Alt Tab out of the game
- Replace the contents of the main save folder by the contents of the backup folder
- Alt Tab back to Moon Hunter and close the game.
Wondering what we've been up to the last few months? Well! WELL! Check out Eternal Echoes, a free expansion coming to desktops later this month:
The highlights:- new Snowdancer class, a melee summoner, gracefully shaping snow-puppets to hunt and freeze enemies that she can then shatter with her ice pick
- new metagame story, with a graveyard of past heroes that allows you to revive them and fight for the Moon, including a new final boss and Endless Arena
- new Snowlands area, flavored with ancient Slavic myths, with new enemies, encounters, and starting village.
Gamasutra calls Moon Hunters "a truly mythopoetic game from top to bottom", even going so far as to say "it never drags on, keeping you moving from beat to beat in each retelling of this enchanting story. Fast enough to make you want to do it all over again until you know the name of every star in the sky." We've put the game at a discount this week, fresh on the heels of a little bugfix patch last week. It's a great time to buy a gift copy for friends you want to play with! If you pick it up, be sure to chime in on the forums. We lurk and see all.

Thanks for all of your support and patience. Online beta lasted about 4 months longer than we first thought it would, but here we are now, with an online multiplayer mode that actually works and no known desynch issues. Hooray! Of course there are always a few things left to improve and fix, but it's well worth the effort for excellent players like yourselves. Full patch notes: * Online mode is now out of Beta! * Dialogue cursors online are in the correct position. * Initial dialogue is now shown online too. * Druid totem shows correctly when dying as a dog. * The sky in adventure maps looks much better now. * Buttons in the Constellation Sky are now clickable. * World Map locations are now clickable. * The Gilgamesh encounter no longer sometimes cuts off your mountain path. * Constellations should no longer appear to unlock multiple times. * Character classes, costumes, and speaking with animals or ghosts should no longer appear to unlock multiple times. We have some exciting news coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned! Tanya & the Kitfox team
First, a warm greeting to all of our new players who just picked up the game in last week's sale, or who heard about our launch on PlayStation 4. Welcome welcome! We hope you enjoy it here in Issaria. Today's patch has been long in coming, much longer than we had hoped, but keybindings are one of the trickiest things in a 1-4 player game with various supported control schemes. And now keybindings finally work properly! There were multiple cascading issues with whether to store the keybinds per controller or per profile or per player slot (and in local co-op vs online). But those seem mostly cleaned up now, so we can focus on smaller, more satisfying bugfixes. Thank you for your patience! Today's patch also introduces a new enemy, the Quarrier Queen! She's a tougher beetle in the desert, apt to shoot three sun orbs. There's also lots more villagers talking trash about (OK fine they mostly adore) your past heroes, in their hometowns during future playthroughs. Full patch notes and known issues are available in the forums! Thank you for being the best fans, Tanya & the Kitfox team
To celebrate Moon Hunters successfully making it to the PlayStation Network store in North America yesterday, we're putting it on sale on Steam this week for -35%! That puts it under $10 USD for the first time! We'll also be patching in the next week with revamped keybindings, more online fixes, and villagers talking more about past heroes. So pick it up now while it's hot (buy a copy for a friend to play online with!), and support further development in the months to come. By the power of the Moon, Tanya & the Kitfox team
Those of you who are into beauty and inspiration, you might want to check out The Art of Moon Hunters! Our incredible artist Xin Ran Liu lavished it with gorgeous illustrations and watercolors, so have a look on our website. eBook stats:
- Over 90 full-color pages
- Over 7,000 words of accompanying explanations
- Bunches of never-before-seen concepts and lore
- Strategic constellation-unlocking hints and recipe ideas
- 100% full of love
- Only $9.99!
With dialogue, shop, and interface issues 99.999% solved in patch 1.0.2482, we're very very close to removing that "beta" tag from online mode. Unfortunately, we had to hold back Online keybinding until Henk has finished restructuring the way controllers and character login works, which we're hoping to happen very soon. By way of apology, we've added the Mulberry Toad familiar! Here's the full patch notes: * (Online) Several fixes for getting stuck in dialogues or upgrade shop, especially in limited/slow network conditions. * Songweavers should check the Mangroves for a new loyal friend - the Mulberry Toad familiar. * Fixed an issue with the Witch’s stab attack on non-default costumes. * Sun cult enemies are now affected by the Druid’s vines. * Hometown selection is now a proper vote. * Lots of optimizations! The game should run more smoothly on most machines. * The Rat is now the Fox constellation, for you Cunning heroes out there. Old legends might still call you The Rat though, if they were generated before this patch. * Translation into all 6 non-English languages, for the post-launch encounters and other text. * Better fade-out and fade-in transitions between scenes. * More and better sound-effects for various enemies, including Mardokh. Thank you! Tanya & the Kitfox crew
We apologize for the delay! Seven beautiful Steam trading cards are now available in Moon Hunters. Collect them all to get your Steam badge and unique Moon Hunters emotes. Thanks for playing, Tanya & the Kitfox team
EDIT: We're the June IndieBox! Check it out to pick up unique collector's edition goodies (details to be announced). Plus, patch 1.0.2382 went live today. It includes some cutscene changes, and a handful of new encounters (some of which still need translation, sorry, please be patient -- hopefully we can patch the translations in soon)... including Gilgamesh and Utnapishtim, from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Henk also implemented some interesting improvements to the Ritualist, who was feeling a bit stale. We've also announced through the PlayStation blog that Moon Hunters is coming to PlayStation 4 on July 12th! So we might have smaller patches for a little while as we focus on that, though obviously we are still hoping to bring the Online out of beta as soon as possible. Finally, Kitfox turns 3 years old today! Three years ago, we came together and decided to make interesting worlds that are different every time... first we made Shattered Planet, then Moon Hunters, and.. thank you for making that possible. And for you detail-orienteds, here's the full patch notes!
June 1 - 1.0.2382
* Revised the opening cutscene at the game’s start, to more accurately reflect the game’s content and themes. * French language: All cutscenes feature new French voice! * Six new encounters can be found in the wild, with one new cave and three all-new characters, including wrestling with Gilgamesh himself. * Your camp can be visited by six more characters as a follow-up to encounters -- including finally using that old Anzu feather. * Three new camp activity random encounters have been added (one each to Hunting, Keeping Watch, Stargazing). * The cost of tier 2 and 3 upgrades has been reduced from 100 / 200 to 75 / 150. * The Ritualist’s accumulates dark orbs while you aren’t shooting, letting you fire off a whole volley of orbs quickly! When out of orbs, her firing rate reduces significantly. * The Ritualist has a new upgrade, Dark Reservoir, which increase the number of orbs that can be held. * Ingredient pickups no longer drop if they’ve already been unlocked. * The environment music resumes after boss music ends. * Fixed an issue where visual damage effects from fire weren’t appearing in the right place. * (Online) Players should no longer get moved from their positions when entering / leaving caves. * (Online) Enemy attacks from the boar and vulture are applied more consistently. * (Online) Fixed an issue where one of Humbaba’s attacks wasn’t being applied for remote players. * (Online) Kills / deaths are attributed to the right players. * (Online) The spirit guardian’s bomb attack applies properly to remote players. * (Online) The Witch’s Blood Charge skill properly shows its visual effect online. * (Online) Fixed an issue where ingredients picked up during a playthrough wouldn’t show as unlocked for remote players. Have fun! Tanya & the Kitfox team
Hey Moon Hunters! If you're curious what it felt like in the weeks and months leading up to Moon Hunters launch, you can watch "Qulture" and learn about indie games in Montreal, featuring Kitfox! It includes footage from our team meetings, launch party, and more. And in the 10 short days since the last patch, we've fixed a whole host of issues, especially online. Here's the major changes (not counting little things like typos, etc): * (Online) IP entering has been replaced with a 4-number Lobby code. * (Online) Occasional failure to close the shop panel doesn’t happen anymore. * (Online) Even less disconnects than before. * (Online) Fixed an issue where some enemies would only be present on the client. * (Online) Fixed an issue where some projectiles (such as the tornado) would last forever in camp. * (Online) Loading screen doesn’t get players stuck anymore. * (Online) Arenas no longer occasionally double up the enemies. * (Online) End-of-game character myths and constellations match on all clients. * (Online) Fixed a couple of cases where dialogues could be accidentally skipped without voting, leaving the other players behind. * (Online) Fixed an issue where player could be revived while alive, causing visual glitches the next time they died. * Made it clearer when players are stunned by enemy attacks. * Boars have more aggressive behaviour! * Charging enemies can no longer be stunned while charging. * Saved games more reliably generate the same adventure map on successive loads. * Of interest to those who can speak with spirits, the “Blade of Chance” encounter location(s) has been revealed on the world map. You can also now talk with the Blade of Chance, after restoring her regalia. * Mardokh will no longer sometimes spawn twice. * In 4-player games, some players will never be kicked out of the final battle with Mardokh. * Fixed an issue that let players cook multiple times in camp. * Some players who could not redeem their Black Cat or Phoenix familiars can now do so. I've been writing a few new encounters, but we're waiting on a few elements before they can go live.. plus we're still prioritizing getting Online out of beta. If you want to tell us what you think we should add or fix next, chime in on the forums! We'd love to hear more discussion of ideas. Let's keep hunting the moon! Tanya & the Kitfox team
We went to PAX, which disrupted our schedules a bit, but was really fun. Thanks to everyone who came by the booth. You can see a few pictures on our Facebook page here! We also just posted up 1.0.2232, which includes:
- A boost to Spellblades: a heavier 1-2-3 combo attack, with the third attack always creating a tornado
- A boost to Sun Cultists: better knockback on the chakram swipe, and easier-to-use meteor.
- The Phoenix familiar, for fans who purchased it online during PAX, or came by the PAX booth.
- Various online fixes (opals, health bars, breakables, bugs, etc)
- The Shieldo enemy is much more fun to fight now, with improved behaviour and a vulnerable state.
At long last, Marcelo has implemented a whole new system and you no longer have to do any port forwarding shenanigans to play Moon Hunters online. Whether you enter the IP manually or Steam Invite people, if you are both choosing the same server region you should be able to "just play", which is what we always wanted. So play Moon Hunters online! Please! :) We're still shy about removing the beta tag because we know there are a few bugs, but hopefully the next patch can rip it off... and add a few new shiny things to enjoy! You can also read the full patch notes in the forums, if you're curious. Thanks for playing! Tanya & the Kitfox team
We're pairing up with The Yetee to bring two new shirts, never before sold on any store. One features the art of Kelly Smith (otherwise known as @beatfist), with the Songweaver paying tribute to the Queen of Heaven. The other is a remix of the classic Kickstarter Spellblade design, but with new colors and on a lovely navy blue. Click through to check out the shirts! If you pre-order them before April 19th, you'll get a free Goddess sticker added as a bonus. Send us pictures of you wearing the shirt (or sticker) for free retweets, or wear them to the PAX East booth for free hugs. Cheers, Tanya & the Kitfox team P.S. Also, we patched a little bit today with some save file loading fixes & V-Sync toggle.
Hooray! You can now play Moon Hunters on Mac OSX and Linux, in addition to Windows. You can even play across all 3 platforms Online, if you have your port forwarding set up correctly. In the same patch, we also enabled keybindings while offline. We ALSO added 10 new encounters, scattered around the world. Plus we fixed a bunch of other stuff! If you're curious about the detailed patchnotes, check out the patch notes thread on the forums and have fun! Our next priority is 100% sorting out all of your online issues, so wish Marcelo luck as he heads into the belly of the beast. Thank you for your support! Tanya & the Kitfox team
We just put up patch 1.0.2093, which includes: * (Online) Added support for Steam Invite. Look in the bottom right after pressing Host Game. * Improved load times and memory usage in several places. * Baba Yaga can now be found on the world map, and will always appear in the same adventure map as her cat Bayun. * The mouse cursor hides itself when not being used. * Non-native screen resolutions can now be used in fullscreen. * The Songweaver’s ability panel now shows the correct buttons when using a gamepad. * The Witch’s stab attack has more reliable collision checking. * The Ritualist's dash is much nicer-looking now. * Unlockable palettes are now selectable with gamepad and mouse in both online and offline play. * Health pickups now heal players even when shielded / evading. * The recipe count now shows the correct number of recipes unlocked. * The proper text for hero names is displayed in places it wasn’t shown before. * (Online) Dialogue confirmation moves forward properly in cases where it was occasionally getting stuck. * (Online) The end-of-adventure award screen and shop screen can no longer become stuck if one player cancels while the other confirms. * (Online) The mouse can now be used even when a gamepad is assigned. Next week: Mac & Linux! We're also hoping to start looking at improvements like a few more events, characters, etc. Let us know in the forums if you have a suggestion for what you want to see most. Thanks! Tanya & the Kitfox team
Hey there moon hunters! We've patched a few times over the last week, and although we still have a bunch of issues we're hoping to tackle next week, I thought I'd catch you up on what we fixed. If you're interested in keeping tabs on the timing & content of each and every patch, check the forum thread on Patch Notes but here's all of it mushed together for your convenience: MAJOR * The framerate is now limited to the current monitor refresh rate. GAMEPLAY * Fixed the Songweaver sometimes not regaining stamina while running. * Fixed the Songweaver’s run speed buff carrying over between areas. * Fixed the Spellblade’s Shockwave animation triggering when it shouldn’t. * Fixed several issues with dialogue being displayed incorrectly. * Fixed an issue that prevented Apricot events from appearing. * The final boss can no longer be damaged while spawning. * Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck in certain caves when playing online. ONLINE * Fixed players sometimes getting stuck at the hometown selection screen. * Fixed remote players not always being able to hit the final boss when playing online. * Fixed an online death synchronization issue. * Fixed remote player totems sometimes moving off-screen. * Fixed an issue where enemies would sometimes disappear online. * The pause panel no longer pauses enemies when online. * Players with different client versions will be asked to update when trying to join. INTERFACE * Keybinding settings have been reset to resolve issues some players were having. * Improved initial loading experience. * A visual bug with selecting options in the Cooking Panel has been fixed. * Increased clickable area on the dialogue panel UIs. * Improved mouse controls in the in-game options menu. * Fixed some incorrect button icons being shown in the ability panel. * The host's IP address is now shown in the "host game" menu, as well as an option to hide it. * The host game menu now links to our "How to play online" guide. Thank you so much for your patience & support! We'll strive to make the game better and better with your feedback over the next months or (gods willing) years!
Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word about Moon Hunters yesterday! The game released on Steam, Humble, itch.io, and IndieGameStand! We've had a few glowing articles published recently, including: * "Zelda Meets Diablo in the Gorgeous Moon Hunters" by IGN * "The Importance of Player Stories in Moon Hunters" by Indiegames.com * A "GREAT" (four-star) rating by WeGotThisCovered * And lots more, but you get the idea! If you have played the game, please leave us a Steam review! It really helps! I'm also still sorting through all of your lovely emails and messages, but it's clear most of you have been cheering us on for two years and your support has meant the world to us. We were briefly #22 in the top sellers, beating out Dark Souls III! This is just the beginning, and we're already planning out what will be in the patches to come every week. Today we hope to put up a couple of fixes for the Options menu and Character Select screen, and next week we're focusing on optimizations.
How else can I play Moon Hunters?
Other than Humble, itch, and IndieGameStand, we were initially planning (and had announced) coming to GOG yesterday. But at the last minute, we decided to delay the GOG build until the Online mode goes out of "beta", to better-suit the nature of GOG. Taking everything into account, this is the current release schedule for all of the remaining (confirmed) Moon Hunters platforms: GOG.com: March 24th (and Online leaves Beta) Mac & Linux: March 31st PS4: June-July PSVita: August-September We are also considering other platforms, but for now it's one step at a time. Thank you AGAIN for all of your support and patience! <3 Cheers, Tanya & the Kitfox team
And it's that time! The best time! This is only the beginning, really, as we intend to keep making the game bigger and better over the coming months and years. We're so excited to share the game with you today! Thank you so much to our fans, followers, backers, and supporters! Tell your friends!
Moon Hunters releases at noon PST on March 10th! IGN released a flattering video calling it "Zelda meets Diablo", so if you want to see some gameplay footage, check it out: http://ca.ign.com/videos/2016/03/02/zelda-meets-diablo-in-the-gorgeous-moon-hunters If you want to see what else we're up to, pop into the livestream in the next hour, or check out our Kickstarter update posted this morning.
Woosh! That was the sound of time flying past. Very soon now, Moon Hunters will be released to the world and we'll see what you think of our little game. Mark March 10th in your calendars to buy it on day 1! In the meantime, you might have noticed we also have activated the original soundtrack as a purchaseable DLC. It will be available separately for $9.99, or for an additional $4.99 as part of the Soundtrack Edition of the game (total $19.99). Wish us luck squashing all of these bugs in the time we have left...! Tanya & the Kitfox team
Hey Moon Hunters! We're in the final days, fixing and tweaking and adjusting here and there, making everything just a little bit more beautiful and bug-free. However, we ran into a small snag, and need to overhaul the way online data is being saved -- this should only take the Amazing Marcelo a little while, but we want to make 100% sure that the game is great at launch (or as great as we can, being a small team). So, after much discussion, we decided to delay until March 10th. By way of apology, here's some dancing animals. We're sorry for any disappointment, but we promise that it's all for the best. If you have any YouTuber, livestreamer, or press friends, now is the time to let them know about Moon Hunters, so we can have the best launch day possible! Cheers, Tanya & the Kitfox team

With a Super Blood Moon Eclipse coming up on September 27th, we've just got to appease the lunar deities... so we decided to hold a fan art contest! That means it's time to get creative. Break out those markers, Photoshops, ukeleles, pens, notepads, Play-doh, needlework, and typewriters (or what-have-you) because it's not limited to visual arts. Feel free to work in whatever medium you feel most comfortable in, as long as it involves characters or settings within the Moon Hunters universe. You can check out our press kit or Youtube channel for references and inspiration. Once you're all done, submit your entry via link or file to info@kitfoxgames.com by 11:59 PM EST on September 24th, 2015. The prizes include:
- First Place: 4 Steam keys for Moon Hunters (for you and three friends), the opportunity to name a creature, and a pixel art icon commission by our own Mike H
- Second Place: 2 Steam keys for Moon Hunters and a pixel art icon commission
- Third Place: 2 Steam keys for Moon Hunters
- The work must be your own. We want you to make it, but feel free to get help from friends or family members (with their permission, of course)
- It must involve Moon Hunters characters or settings
- You can submit multiple pieces, but sending more doesn't increase your odds of winning
- No offensive language or vulgar images in your submissions, please. Stay cool.
You there! Want to see Moon Hunters being made and ask the dev your questions? OK LET'S DO THIS! On our brand new official company Twitch channel, Tanya (me) and Xin will show design and art, from 4pm-6pm EST, on September 10th and 24th. I know it's a bit short notice for today, since you only have about an hour to get your hair ready, but I hope more of you can join on the 24th! And for those that can make it... let's hang out!? With love and mythology, Tanya, Xin, and the rest of the Kitfox Games crew P.S. Thanks for the wishlist! You're the best!
