As if this month wasnt flying by fast enough already, were pleased to announce that the speedrunning platformer delight Mr. Run and Jump is ringing in the new year with an exciting content update that seriously ups the ante on replayability. Today, Atari introduces an all-new game mode to the neon speedrunning hit: Ghost Mode. With this new feature, players can continuously improve their playtimes in any timed trial level by racing against a ghost avatar, essentially pitting players against themselves. After all, whats a more satisfying achievement than conquering your best time? In addition to the new gameplay mode, Mr. Run and Jump welcomes a content update providing level and enemy-specific balancing adjustments for an even smoother speedrunning experience. • An all new time trial ghost feature has been added to the game! Achieving a new fastest time on any level's time trial will save a ghost recording of that run. Player's can now race against those ghost recordings upon replaying a time trial in order to improve their times.
• Balancing adjustments have been made to Mr. Run and Jump's hitbox.
• Balancing adjustments have been made to most enemy hitboxes.
• Small balancing adjustments have been made to several levels.
• Level in the Dark Realm now take fewer orbs to unlock. Only 100 orbs are need to unlock all Dark Realm levels instead of 120.

A reimagining of the classic Atari adventure! Players take control of Lyn Graves, the precocious niece of legendary treasure hunter Zachary Graves. It's been busy days at Graphite Lab lately, but I'm happy to say Mr. Run and Jump is almost here! To our surprise, we were paid a special visit by the man of the hour! Mr. Run and Jump took a little time out of his busy schedule to come down to St. Louis and pay us a visit. We got up to all kinds of fun business. Turns out, Mr. Run and Jump can run and jump pretty well, but his basketball skills could use some work!
He's pretty good at kickball though...

Mr. Run and Jump at BIG Festival!

Mr. Run and Jump dazzled players at the Big Festival in Brazil this weekend. On top of showcasing the most innovative games in the world, the event is also the most important meeting point for those who want to have a deep understanding of games, with speaking sessions, workshops, keynotes and the biggest games business forum in Latin America.

The demo for Mr. Run and Jump will be available for one more week!

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who downloaded the demo during Next Fest! It's been wonderful to see the tremendous reception the game has gotten throughout all last week! Those who missed Next Fest still have an opportunity to play Mr. Run and Jump. July 3rd (next Monday) at 10 am CST is when the demo will be taken down. This means there's still time to play through the first world of the game, and plenty of time still to set some good times in the time trials!

The Speedrun Contest is still going strong!

Have you heard? We've been hosting a contest to see who can set the fastest times for each level in the demo. The top 5 runners per level will receive a free Steam key of Mr. Run and Jump when the game launches! The fastest runner of each level will also receive a signed poster from us, the developers. The community has been pumping out some really impressive runs so far, but there is still room for improvement! Some levels don't even have all top 5 slots filled yet. A bit of a doozy...

Between one-hit deaths, precision jumps, and all these darn Skullkin everywhere, Mr. Run and Jump can be a very challenging game! That is why we implemented several features that are designed to give you, the player, a bit of assistance if you need it.

Mr. Watch and Learn

Introducing Mr. Watch and Learn, your friendly, one-eyed guide through the Realms of Color! Mr. Watch and Learn is equipped with the know-how needed to survive the many dangers of the Realms, and he's more than happy to show you the ropes! You can find Mr. Watch and Learn all throughout the game. Talk to him, and he'll describe how to use Mr. Run and Jump's many different acrobatic abilities. He can even display a ghosted-version of Mr. Run and Jump, to show you exactly what you need to do in order to get past those particularly tricky obstacles.

Dynamic Assistance

Colliding with an enemy will usually respawn you at the beginning of the last room you entered. When this happens enough times, the game can trigger a couple different, helpful pickups depending on the situation. These pickups are checkpoint flags and invincibility stars.

Checkpoint Flags

Especially large rooms can have checkpoint flags appear in the middle of them. Collecting one of these means you will no longer respawn at the beginning of the room, but instead you'll respawn at the flag's location.

Invincibility Stars

Feeling stuck, like you just can't get past the next obstacle? Wishing you could just move through those spikes and get on with the rest of the level? No problem! After many respawns in a room, an invincibility star will appear. As the name suggests, collecting one of these will make Mr. Run and Jump invincible for several seconds, so you can walk right past whatever was causing you grief!

Scaling Options

Do you love a challenge and dynamic assistance doesn't sound appealing to you? Or maybe you're new to platformers and you wish assistance would come a little sooner? Mr. Run and Jump provides players with 3 options to scale the frequency at which checkpoint flags and invincibility stars spawn in: frequently, infrequently, and never. Use these options to give yourself the gameplay experience that suites you best!

The Worlds of Mr. Run and Jump

Speaking of violet world, the worlds in Mr. Run and Jump are based on the colors of the rainbow. The player starts in the violet world and works their way up to red and beyond. Violet world will introduce the player to the core mechanics and various moves needed to get through each stage. As the player moves through the colors of the rainbow more difficult challenges and enemies must be met!
Survive Violet World and more difficult and colorful challenges await!

Mr. Run and Jump is about more than simply running and jumping.

You can also:

• Double jump
• Wall jump
• Long jump
• High jump
• Dive
• Roll
• Crouch
• Bounce

All of these moves are performed using only two buttons: a "jump" button and a "crouch" button. Plus, these actions can be chained together, almost like a jump-combo system. The right chain of jumps at the right time will keep you in the air for a preposterously long time, and it can feel like Mr. Run and Jump has learned how to fly!

There are three types of collectibles in Mr. Run and Jump.

• Challenge Orbs - hidden within challenge rooms, challenge orbs are tough to acquire! Collecting all three in a level represents a significant challenge compared to the rest of the level.
  
• Shards - shards are scattered everywhere! They can be hidden among the scenery, they can highlight difficult jumps, and they can be gated behind mini challenges. When all the shards in a level are collected, they're assembled into their original form: a shattered orb!
  
• Time Orbs - a level's time trial is unlocked after completing the level for the first time. Finishing the time trial with a fast enough time will unlock a time orb.

What can you do with all these orbs you're collecting?

The orbs are used to unlock hats for Mr. Run and Jump! With a dozen hats to unlock and a few different honorific options, you can really give the game a face lift!
