Assistance Abound!
Between one-hit deaths, precision jumps, and all these darn Skullkin everywhere, Mr. Run and Jump can be a very challenging game! That is why we implemented several features that are designed to give you, the player, a bit of assistance if you need it.
Introducing Mr. Watch and Learn, your friendly, one-eyed guide through the Realms of Color! Mr. Watch and Learn is equipped with the know-how needed to survive the many dangers of the Realms, and he's more than happy to show you the ropes! You can find Mr. Watch and Learn all throughout the game. Talk to him, and he'll describe how to use Mr. Run and Jump's many different acrobatic abilities. He can even display a ghosted-version of Mr. Run and Jump, to show you exactly what you need to do in order to get past those particularly tricky obstacles.
Colliding with an enemy will usually respawn you at the beginning of the last room you entered. When this happens enough times, the game can trigger a couple different, helpful pickups depending on the situation. These pickups are checkpoint flags and invincibility stars.
Especially large rooms can have checkpoint flags appear in the middle of them. Collecting one of these means you will no longer respawn at the beginning of the room, but instead you'll respawn at the flag's location.
Feeling stuck, like you just can't get past the next obstacle? Wishing you could just move through those spikes and get on with the rest of the level? No problem! After many respawns in a room, an invincibility star will appear. As the name suggests, collecting one of these will make Mr. Run and Jump invincible for several seconds, so you can walk right past whatever was causing you grief!
Do you love a challenge and dynamic assistance doesn't sound appealing to you? Or maybe you're new to platformers and you wish assistance would come a little sooner? Mr. Run and Jump provides players with 3 options to scale the frequency at which checkpoint flags and invincibility stars spawn in: frequently, infrequently, and never. Use these options to give yourself the gameplay experience that suites you best!
