Warning: very minor end game state spoilers ahead Hello! 1.1.3 is now live, and has a fun new feature: the Memory Override executable. This appears on the end game desktop (you know the one) after finishing the game, and lets you dive into and modify all of the saves you made in that specific run. The whole game state is up for grabs. This includes stuff like: - Money - Upgrades - All of the in-game messages - All of my secret dev settings You can then export and share these modified saves as you wish. Kind of like a baby game modder. The catch? These modified saves wont count towards achievements, and will be marked as modified elsewhere in the game, too. But it opens the door to some potentially fun and interesting ways of breaking the game. Other, smaller changes: - Can now, at last, delete datasets you have bought or harvested to clear your backlog - Code has been migrated to use an i18n library, paving the way for translations. Has been rigorously checked but do let me know if you spot any syntax errors as this will be why. If you are a translator who has played the game and would be interest in localizing it (or providing localization QA) in your favorite language, get in touch with your rates!
A small bucket of patches. Advanced 'double click purchase' technology now works for everything, not just datasets. Made the 'cannot buy' messages for software in the marketplace a little bit clearer (ie, tells you in advance if you don't have enough storage or memory, before you try and click buy). Fixes for the 'close call' and 'big spender' achievements. Improvements to impact prediction reliability. Potential fixes for some Linux edge cases. Fix bug/soft infinite loop that would happen if there was more than one fatal error happening at a time. Surprised this one didn't cause more problems! Maybe you're all too good. And, before I forget, I should mention the game now has a Speedrun page! Just in case anybody has the urge to get something on there. That #1 spot is very much up for grabs. Thank you for playing steamthis
Greetings, To celebrate the addition of Achievements and the release of game version 1.1.0, FACEMINER is now available for 15% off. One week only. We look forward to onboarding you. Regards, FACEMINER Administration
FACEMINER is now 1.1.0! Whats new?
Welcome to 1.035. Not gonna lie: this one isn't very exciting. But 1.035 walks so that 1.036 can run. BUGFIXES: Fix bug where the Save Game upgrade was sometimes locked in endless mode games Fix bug where the menu page would not honor audio/volume settings Fix bug where rolling income would get stuck if income becomes zero Fix bug where previous fullscreen state was not remembered Small calculation stability improvements IMPROVEMENTS Improvements to performance of visualizer & cluster computing 3D views Decrease level required to get the secret top rank Balancing tweak for endless mode that makes emissions charges less extreme (and prone to billion dollar spikes) in late-late-game. More to come here. Add scaffolding for achievements
Hello everyone! The secret is starting to get out: the FACEMINER soundtrack goes harder than it has any right to. And though the in-game artist names might throw you off the scent a little, the credit for this lies solely with the musician, record producer and composer known as Madwreck. I'm pleased to report that the OST is now available to buy and stream almost anywhere. That means you dont have to load the game up just to listen to the soundtrack anymore (I know you are out there). Instead, grab it here on Steam, or on any of your favorite streaming or download platforms. And, unlike the in-game versions which have been compressed for period-accuracy, the songs you will find on these platforms are presented in their full, maximum fidelity glory. Happy listening /!\
Hello! 1.034 is now live. Pretty tight focus for this one: Steam Cloud Saves. These are now live! To be extra safe, a backup of all of your saves is made locally in a non-synced folder each time the game is ran, so if you plan on using this feature I recommend (after updating) playing the game on the machine with the saves you care about on first to secure that local fallback. Improving late game stability on Endless Mode. I have had a few reports from players who are seeing random spikes in their electricity use while playing (in-game, thankfully not IRL), especially on either lower spec computers or on very fast AutoMode upgrade levels. I have introduced a new setting in the advanced section of the settings menu called stability mode. The tldr is that this will make calculations more stable/predictable by fixing them to the AutoMode level rather than calculating the speed dynamically, which was always a bit of a rogue approach. It is disabled by default in normal runs and existing (legacy) endless mode games, but can be toggled on at any time. Otherwise, it is now the default for all new endless mode games. Thank you for playing!
Hello everyone! Thank you again for being here; I remain humbled and a little astonished by your presence. Were now just over a week from the launch, and its feeling like the perfect time for Round 2 of the post-launch patches. LOG - Hopefully fixed the bug where ghost windows would haunt the machines of some users after closing the game. Not good, this one. - Made it impossible to delete unused cluster computing connection code messages. - Added a popup message to alert the user when Infinite Money Glitch mode is unlocked after completing the game on the Slow mode. I think a few were missing this its pretty fun! - Fix temperature unit bug where some temperatures would still show in F when C was selected. - Added more safety checks to calculations, and began migrating to big.js for the less frequent .operations. General aim being to prevent numbers from slipping and corrupting save data. - Few typo fixes. - Added a toggle to disable the automatic pause (that happens when the game window is inactive) to the settings menu. - Fixed bug where save and firewall upgrades would be locked in endless mode. - Fix bug where downgrading the first camera level to 0 would re-lock the surveillance hub. - Added scrollbar to dataset list. - Paved the way to cloud saves; just a few more checks to do here and these can go live. Thats it for now! Few more bugs to squash, and itll soon be time to move onto something a little more exciting.
Hello everyone, First of all: thank you for checking out FACEMINER! It seems like people are generally enjoying their experience with it, which is really nice to see. This is a mini patch which addresses the most common bugs which have been reported so far. Full list below: - Fix for a few different bugs that were happening with the audio, including the voice message ducking causing strange side effects and settings not being applied between sessions. - Fixed bug where reactors were appearing twice in some endless mode sessions, causing lots of downstream impacts if the shadow-glitch-reactor was purchased (eg an unintentional infinite money glitch*) - Fix for the 'final rank' not triggering in endless mode. Embarrassing! - Fix where opening the logstream at the end of the game would cause some sessions to crash - Add error catching to the manager graph hovering, as a safety precaution - kWh -> kW, MWh -> MW, etc. *An Intentional infinite money glitch can be unlocked by beating the game on the slower difficulty, btw. My apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced by these, and thank you for being an early FACEMINER adopter. Onwards!
Hello everyone,
I am very happy to announce that FACEMINER has been delivered right on time, weighing in at $7.99 with a 20% launch discount. Windows, Mac and Linux are all supported.
A sincere thank you to each and every one of you for following along the development ride! This is the end of one journey, and perhaps the beginning of a new one (bugfixing).
PS: For early playtesters, if you encounter a blank screen after launching, you may need to wipe your old data for the full game to work. I've written how to do that here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2276980/discussions/0/594016220529872296/

FACEMINER is a hardcore thriller clicker set in 1999. Classify data, upgrade mining infrastructure, and scale up your A.I. surveillance empire to obscene ends in this narrative-driven incremental management sim with a dystopian twist. --- Hello everyone, It has come to our attention that many FACEMINER demo players have been struggling to complete their trial periods. Wish Next Fest days away, we thought we'd squeeze in a little update. - Decrease default audio player volume & email reading volume - Make audio player stickier! It will now re-open if you had it open in a previous session - Fix bug where water used chart wasn't displaying properly - Fix bug where marketplace wasn't fully muting if muted - Small tweaks to tutorial wording to improve clarity
Version 1.0 of the FACEMINER demo is now released! The 'beta' disclaimer has been left in the dust and we have our first full version number to prove it. There has been no better time to try out the demo. With this update comes some pretty big changes -- primarily around the BALANCE of the self-contained demo experience. To those who played the demo before and were left defeated by its unforgiving nature, we urge you to try again. The days of runs that go on for hours is over; you will lose faster, the game will (auto)save more often, and if you do win, it'll happen in around half the time. The result amounts to what is hopefully a nimbler experience for all. It may even approach being 'enjoyable' in places for some users (unconfirmed). What else is new? - A massively overhauled message-reading voice! This was the most requested improvement by far. Thanks again to Madwreck with the help on nailing these. - Removed emissions from the demo and simplified the surveillance feature a little these will both come into their own more in the full game, but for now we're nerfing them - VFX can now be disabled through the menu - Many small tweaks to the visuals and narrative/emails; little polishes to make your mining experience better. - Many small bugfixes, too numerous and tedious to mention Thank you for reading, and Happy Mining.
FACEMINER is looking for willing test subjects to participate in a complimentary TRIAL PERIOD for the game. After months of heads-down development, we are getting ready to unleash a FACEMINER demo upon the world. One problem: we don't know how well the game works yet. Not just in a "is this fun/interesting" way, but in a "does this crash on the x64 version of the Windows 7", way, too. This is where you can come in. [previewyoutube=ntnYoBBsq14;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Interested? Sign up to our Discord, and fill out the form in 'demo-beta-test'. Open to Windows, OSX and Linux users. We look forward to onboarding you.
