End of 2024 update.
2024 has been a big year for SpaceSlog and for myself. I had been working on SpaceSlog in my spare time whilst working other jobs for almost 5 years. I made the decision in November to go full time which hopefully means throughout 2025 there will be much more updates, which unfortunately has been lacking. (Keep an eye out for the next one which will detail what's been worked on since we released the demo) We released our first demo on Steam back in September which I think received good feedback. It was this that prompted me to take the jump into going full time, so a big thanks to everyone that decided to play and give feedback, good and bad. We had our first large streamers play the game, with Nookrium playing on Twitch and Orbital Potato playing on YouTube. You can check out Orbital Potato's stream here
We plan to release SpaceSlog into early access on Steam somewhere around Q4 in 2025. I don't want to give a definitive date yet as many things can happen or change when being a solo developer, so I think for now its best to just give a best estimation. We will be joining several Steam Festivals throughout the next year where we will again release a demo for everyone to play and try out the game. Several people have asked why we do not leave the demo up, the reason being is that the demo is currently just the full game, so it wouldn't make much sense to continuously leave up for free the full thing we want to be selling. In the future we may decide to have some kind of timed demo instead. The game is currently playable and we could technically release into early access today, but I want to ensure the game is as good as possible beforehand which will give us the best chance to succeed. I plan to continue to work on this game for several years and there is a huge amount of things I would like to add. To enable me to do that, we need to ensure we have plenty of wishlists and we are favourable to the Steam algorithm when we release. Last but not least, I hope you all had a great Christmas and I hope you all have an equally great new year! I am excited every day to work on SpaceSlog and cannot wait to see what we can achieve with your help in 2025! - Marcus

Slog through space in SpaceSlog. A difficult sci-fi spaceship sim with an emphasis on ship building, crew interaction and exploration. Inspired by games such as Rimworld, Starship Theory, Dwarf Fortress and X-COM and other media such as Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Universe and The Expanse.
Your capital ship has been attacked by an unknown entity. Fortunately several survivors have managed to escape in a small ship. Now alone, hungry and lost in space, you must explore the cosmos and guide them to safety.
Current Features
Build your ship any way you please. Whether you want to build a small but nimble ship with a small crew, or a large battleship with lots of crew, the choice is yours. Just ensure you have enough supplies to manage your crew and keep your ship functioning.
Careful consideration must be used when placing doors and your power systems in case of breaches or other hazards.
Explore a procedurally generated galaxy. Each time you play, the game's events system will generate a different galaxy for you to explore. Whichever difficulty you choose will influence how this galaxy or events are generated.
Exploration is key to survival. Stay in one place for too long or get stranded and your crew will surely die. You must keep moving and find other ships or factions to trade with in order to survive.
Crew needs and moods. The needs of your crew must be met in order to keep your ship fully functioning. An angry crew may rebel, decide not to work or give up completely. Ensure you have enough food and water to feed your crew. You must also choose your captain wisely.
Extensive mod support. All the game's data is stored in JSON files. This means it is extremely easy to change anything currently in the game and even add new ones. In the future we plan to expand on this even further.
Mod development pedigree. The author of SpaceSlog has spent the last 10 years painstakingly developing a large and popular modification for Mount&Blade Warband called A World of Ice and Fire. This is the reason for wanting extensive mod support and should hopefully give peace of mind for anyone wanting to purchase SpaceSlog, knowing the author is dedicated and willing to finish a project.
