I have brought the default branch up to speed with the beta branch. I have created a branch titled "Legacy" that contains the previous version of the game. Improved:
- Review Algorithm
- 3D Environment
- Studio
- Equipment
- Instruments
- Game size reduced
- Save Files
- Studio Name Customization
- Song History
- Quest System
I added in help screens to the beta branch. I'm still revising them, and would love feedback on them. Once the help screens are finished, I hope to release this version into the live game.
The review algorithm has been updated. It should reward your equipment upgrades more, and hopefully provide a better feel for progressing. I am also creating tips/hints for various pages. You can see the button on the tops of certain pages on your computer. The button functionality should roll out in the following week.
I have added in a basic character customization that I plan to add more options to in the future. However, some changes were made to save files, so if you encounter crashing on the beta branch, try starting a new game, or going into your user data folder and delete the saves manually. This will not affect the live game. I plan to move everything into live game in the next few months once I am confident in its stability. If you have anything you would like to see changed or added please continue to reach out
The public beta branch has been updated to fix bugs and revamp reviewing. Song history now displays correct songs on reload, and play buttons function. Reviewing has had a lot of changes. There are quite a few new options. If some reviews feel off please let me know.
All music has been compressed to save space on drives. This may impact some performance when a song first start playing, but I don't see this as a major issue. Please let me know if it becomes an issue, and I will re-look into how I format songs.
I have just opened a beta branch. I have been working on this update for a few months now. With it comes a new 3D enviroment using Cogito template from Phazorknight. There are added QoL features like song history. I plan to add more features, like the ability to listen to past songs that you enjoyed. I wanted to get this out so people can start seeing what needs improvement before a full release. I also plan on playing around with the layout of the studio / multiple studios. However, with this new backed, the translations I was using no longer work. I plan to slowly add them back into the future. I am sorry if this affects you, and I plan to leave the original version with the translations up until I can find a new way to do it.
Music Change
You can now jam out to your music faster. When you submit your song, your song will start playing immediately. If you like what you are listening to, you can choose to spend more time on the song to earn more. If you don't, you can speed through it. This is replacing the normal song change that occurred when your song was completed.
New Music
Two new genres, soul and afrobeats. There was also new songs added to many genres. New music will be added periodically, and I am looking for opportunities to work with artists in the future to have their own pack.
Soul
- Neo
- Trap
Afrobeats
- Reggae
- Dancehall
- Misc

This patch contains a load of changes. The UI for the main screen as well as some sub menus have been changed. There is also changes to how reviews are calculated and some new mechanics.
Instrumental and Vocals
When you create a song, a popup will appear where you can choose the amount of time you spend on instrumental and vocals. They have different rates of accruing composition and mixing points. Also, the more total time put in increases the total amount of points you can get.
Composition and Mixing
Composition and mixing impact the review score of your music. The total amount of points as well as the ratio between the two affects scores. The desired ratio is different for each genre. You gain these points at a rate based on your sound and computer equipment.
Store
You now can purchase sound and computer equipment. The level available for purchase is affected by the level of your studio. These items impact the amount of composition and mixing points you receive per hour.
Song Requests
Song requests have been changed so only 4 can be active at a time. Further, a timer has been added. In future updates, when the timer runs out, the request will disappear.
This patch includes all of the goodies talked about over the weekend. It has the first iteration of contracts and marketing. Further, this build comes with an upgraded engine and compatibility with Linux systems. For now, only one marketing campaign and one contract can be active at a time. This may change in the future based on the feedback received.
Engine Update
I've spent the last week upgrading Producer Tycoon's game engine. Most of the past week has been dedicated to fixing features that were no longer supported by the engine. This is the main reason there is no update this week. I am hoping to have it tested and ready by the end of next week. However, there may be bugs that slip through my testing, so I appreciate any reports you can send me.
Contracts
Contracts have entered the testing phase. This is a basic overview of how they work. [olist]
Marketing
Marketing has just entered development. The main feature of this will be affecting the amount of streams and fans your music gets. My goal is to have basic functionality out by next week's update. In the future I plan to add random events for marketing you do. (ie. You do some social media promotion and it goes viral)
Algorithm Updates
I've been slowly changing the algorithms for song reviews. I've been trying different things in the backend to get a good balance of difficulty and rewarding. This will continue through the next several updates as more features are added. If there ever feels like a patch that feels overly difficult or highly rewarding, please let me know so I can change it as appropriate.
Gameplay Changes:
Achievements are now affect how much money you earn from requests. They only will affect you for the save that you achieved them in. The will begin to effect you in future saves once you reach the same milestone. The time system was rebuilt to be more stable, and provide less confusion when pausing the game. A hour is ~.75 seconds. Please let me know if this is to fast or to slow.
Future Plans:
- Minigame to do while you are making a song. This will effect the review of your song.
- Marketing Tab. This will affect how many fans you have / will receive for your next release
- Contracts Tab. This will affect your revenue coming in, as well as the cost for marketing.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed bug where save files could be incompatible with new updates
- Fixed bug where song requests weren't being completed
- Fixed bug where style selection was changed when selecting a type
- Fixed bug where audio would not play when song was completed
- Fixed bug where steam achievements could cause a crash
- Fixed bug where top songs could cause a crash
Music is now made differently. Instead of composition and post processing, you put in the amount of time you want o spend working. This affects the quality of the piece. In addition, there is now a progress screen that opens when you try to start a new song while one is currently being made. Fixed bug where achievements would not load Fixed bug where content would not be downloaded Fixed UI scaling on some scenes Fixed some translations
Steam functionality is reimplemented. Achievements, cloud saves, and workshop should all be up and running. I am sorry for any inconveniences you may have had as a result of todays earlier patch.
I have temporarily disable steam functionality. In the rebuild of the steam integration, there was some bugs that will take me longer to flesh out. In the mean time I still want you to be able to play the game. Sorry for the incontinences this may have caused.
***There is currently an issue when launching the game through steam. If you experience this issue, try launching directly from the ProducerTycoon.exe file. Workshop songs are finally supported! You can review the documentation for how to upload here. If you have any questions, you can reach me in the community discord or email me. There is an example pack up on the workshop containing the same gospel music put into the game today. Below is a list of newly added features and bug lists. Please let me know if you encounter any bugs with the new features New Genre: Gospel New styles for Gospel: hiphop, lofi, and rnb Added 13 new songs to Gospel Type of music made now affects money and fans earned Sample earns 1x money and 1x fans Loop earns .8x money and 1.2x fans Song earns 1.2x money and .8x fans Rebuilt steam integration Rebuilt initial pck loading Added workshop support for custom music Adjusted review numbers Updated cloud save capacity Fixed bug where some genres would be unelectable Fixed bug causing jobs to crash game if completed Fixed bug where genre would not receive a popularity score Fixed bug where store used different rebinds to move Fixed where last house didn't have a home button Fixed bug where home button would appear in wrong spots Fixed bug where buying houses out of order caused the home button to appear in the wrong spot

Moving through the doorways at the edge of the screen will take you to the world map. The framework for a top 100 song is in place also, it just needs to be finished up. That will be coming in the next 2 weeks. In addition to that, you will be able to name the songs you create. Once those features are added, I will be taking down the playtest. However, to celebrate, the game will be going on sale for the week following the playtests closure. For the EA version, 2 new achievements were added, as well as cloud saves. Now you should be able to carry progress over multiple computers.

Upgrade your studio
After releasing a few hit songs, you can move into a larger studio and buy new equipment. With a new studio and equipment, you will find you dont need to put in as many hours for one song as you used to.
Contracts
You may find yourself needing a few more dollars for that new computer or to pay for rent. Sign a contract with one of 4 record labels and receive a payment. Be careful, some labels will take advantage of you and take large cuts from your future music.
Marketing
Every artist needs to market themselves. Select from social media, ads, or a music video. Select the length of time you want to market for, and watch the new fans role in. Some fans are less loyal then others, so keep up the music quality or you may find they start to leave you.
