Hi everyone! It's been a year since I launched STONKS-9800: Stock Market Simulator in Early Access, and I'm deeply grateful to everyone who's joined me on this journey to improve the game. Just so you know, TERNOX isn't a company. It's just me, working solo, occasionally outsourcing some graphics to bring our ideas to life. This has become my biggest project, and honestly, it's been quite a ride keeping up with it. Over the past year, STONKS-9800 has expanded massively:
- New achievements on Steam; - Updated poker hand calculations; - Now the numpad also work for switching between tabs; - Small changes to the comfort calculation, the indicator also no longer changes instantly, but still changes quickly every day; - Fixed the calculation of the dividend yield on the company window; - Fixed a bug that caused extremely comfortable individual houses to have a half-star comfort rating (they were actually very comfortable); - Fixed a bug where the last company on the portfolio page was sometimes not displayed; - Fixed a bug where the main menu of the game could be blocked by the city map; - Some fixes to the calculation of the correctness of poker combinations; - Various other fixes aimed at improving the stability of the game.
[previewyoutube=hAbeWs-SioM;full][/previewyoutube]
- From now on, a player will be dismissed from the position of CEO and the board of directors of all companies when he goes to prison; - Going to jail has a stronger impact on reputation; - The average value of a stock in the portfolio is now reset to 0 if the player has sold all shares, - Fixing visual glitches on MacOS on scrollable messages; - Fixing a bug that caused companies to become NaN (HOPEFULLY); - Other bug fixes, - Probably new bugs.
- Now companies will go bankrupt or merge a little less often; - Companies will not merge with a player's company without a request; - An illegal company will no longer participate in new events that appeared with the last update; - The amount of the yakuza payout is limited; - Fixed a bug that caused the player to have too many people on the board of directors when merging companies; - Fixed a bug with a game crash; - Improved Japanese translation of the new text; - Other minor bug fixes.
- Changes in employees' salary requirements will now be smoother; - Fixed a bug with a huge decrease in the percentage of ownership in a company after a merger; - Fixed a critical bug with NaN after issuing shares; - Fixed a bug that could cause some achievements to carry over from another game session; - Fixed a bug where a man in a bar offering illegal business would not appear.
- If a company is struggling, it can now go bankrupt; - Companies can buy each other; - The player's company can buy other companies; - When starting a new game, the player will now be guaranteed to know the board of directors of a company already in the game; - Companies will now be less likely to issue new shares; - Rebalancing of stock prices; - Gamepad controls have been slightly improved; - Fixed some button labels in the Hoshimari mini-game; - Fixed a bug with the game crashing when switching pages in the Portfolio; - Fixed a bug with golf music; - Fixed a bug with changing days during shareholder meetings.
Finally, the game has a native version for macOS! It should work on Apple devices with Apple Silicon and Intel processors, the minimum OS version is macOS High Sierra 10.13. New in the patch: - MacOS version; - Updates of the company management interface; - Unemployed workers now work on "projects" in the company that bring additional reserves, research points, and increase the experience and characteristics of employees; - New mini-game - golf; - New achievements in the game; - Changes in the speech mini-game: lines are highlighted in different colors, a missed shot is no longer considered a mistake, only one shot at a time; - The replenishment indicator and expenses from the company's balance now have text animation; - A bunch of small fixes in the Ukrainian translation; - Fixed a bug that caused financial reputation to be deducted more often than necessary; - Fixed a bug with incorrect display of the cost of the Advanced Marketing Campaign; - Fixed a bug where the monthly salary of a player as a director or board member was not taken into account in the "Total" column; - Fixed a bunch of other minor bugs;
If you're tired of getting the economic crisis of the early 90s every time in the game (which corresponds to real events), you can now choose a random event mode when creating a new game - the Japanese economy will experience both ups and downs in random order. Have time to react to market fluctuations in time! New: - Korean translation has been added to the game; - The ability to choose a historical or random set of events when creating a new game; - A new collection of toy dogs; - Contacts will pick up the phone a little more often; - The stock exchange now has an icon next to company names that shows the type of activity of the company; - The city now changes depending on the time of year; - The main screen now has a special inscription if the player is on vacation; - The algorithm for calculating monthly financial reputation charges has been changed; - The upward arrow will now mark the Profile and Advisor tabs when there are important events related to Amy; - Yoshiro's services have become more expensive; - Prices for various random events related to the player's company have been reduced; - A bit of additional code to make it easier for you to collect toy collections; - Many new milestones in the game; Company management: - In the list of employees, department heads will be marked with a different color; - Employees of your company will now have the correct position information in their profile; - Viewing candidates is no longer available if all resumes have already been viewed; - When employees ask for a salary increase, their current salary and the desired salary will be visible; Bugs: - Fixed a bug with getting the Asset Ascension achievement; - Fixed an erroneous message from Amy at the beginning of the new game "Now you can trade on the stock exchange again!"; - Fixed several other minor bugs;
- Now you can switch between contacts from the company page (view director to board of directors); - Fixed a bug where the last company on the second page of the stock exchange was not displayed; - Fixed a bug where the game crashed due to a message from a yakuza;
A small update with quality of life features! - The possibility to easily switch to the next and previous contact is now available; - Now when you hover over a contact's profile picture, you will get additional information about them; - You can also now learn more about a contact by hovering over it in a dialog box; - Contacts' knack are now visible in the department menu; - Improvements to Japanese localization; - Faces of chibi portraits now match the full portrait; - You can no longer leave your own company in CEO mode (only if you are kicked out); - After resigning as CEO, you are subject to a one-year restriction period during which you cannot create a new company; - Large messages are now typed faster; - Yakuza will now be more often offering to pay off; - The bank will no longer be so quick and aggressive in taking away your property; - Fixed calculations for the size of your own company (in money amount); - Fixed a bug with lifetime blocking of trading on the stock exchange; - Fixed a game crash if a player has a nickname with certain characters;
- Fixed the issue with the game crash "Variable Index [1] out of range [1] - -1.mycar" - Fixed incorrect display of tooltips in Japanese Work of fan localizations has been improved: - Now the game does not crash if there are blank lines in the translation, but displays English lines. - Font in fan translations doesn't break every time you launch it.
This update is just the beginning of a series of updates with fun and more!
I know it won't work, but let's try!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1539140/STONKS9800_Stock_Market_Simulator
The game is fully compatible with Steam Deck, officially approved by Valve.
- Added the ability to massively increase employee salaries; - Fixed a bug with the game crashing during the event with the "disappearance" of the "mysterious company"; - The event when a strange fellow sits down with you no longer occurs repeatedly after his offer has already been accepted once; - Fixed a bug that caused the event of a fire in the apartment to be mistakenly indicated as "you are bankrupt and your apartment has been taken away"; - Fixed a bug that caused the list of apartments and cars to disappear; - Fixed a bug where clicking on the Company tab sometimes did not work the first time.
I understand that many of you might be disappointed with the new timelines, but this is a necessary step to allow me to work on the game at a somewhat reasonable pace and still have free time for other projects. However, you won't have to wait 3-4 months for each update I will now be rolling out updates gradually so that you're not left without new content for extended periods. The next major planned update, "0.4 Entertainment," will begin to roll out in December, possibly even a bit earlier. For instance, from the upcoming content, you'll get more vacation events (and a new mini-game!) as well as increased interactions with the Yakuza, including in the context of company management. You will receive all this without waiting for me to complete everything planned for version 0.4, so don't be surprised if the subsequent 0.4 update doesn't bring as much content. This approach will also help me better monitor the game's balance and address bugs more progressively.
I am actively working on updating it with improvements after patch 0.3.
Finally, the long-awaited update! I'm sorry for the delay, but I'll be revising the roadmap in a few days, so stay tuned.
Hello everyone!
Apologies are in order. It looks like I bit off more than I could chew this time around. Who knew that rest isnt just a suggestion, but a necessity? Shocking, right?
So heres the deal: I dropped the ball and patch 0.3 is going to need a bit more TLC before its ready to roll out. But dont worry, Ill be sharing more screenshots in the next few days so keep your eyes on Twitter and Discord.
Now, for a quick refresher: this patch is all about breathing life into your entrepreneurial spirit. Youll get to build your company from the ground up, handpick your team, assign roles, and watch your empire expand. And for those of you who are as impatient as I am, you can jump straight into the action with a ready-to-go company (itll be a modest start, but hey, Rome wasnt built in a day).
I can't thank you enough for your patience and understanding. Im considering a tweak in the roadmap to ensure I deliver nothing but top-notch updates without the delay. Every promise made will be a promise kept, thats a guarantee.
Catch you soon!
- Friends can no longer have more than 100 friendship levels; - More readable rate display in the "2 Courses" menu; - Reduced the required reputation level for unlocking short trades; - Allows you to delete save files; - Fixed a bug that caused the chart to not update on days when a player was working part-time; - Fixed a bug with the game crashing when investing in Future Tech; - Fixed a bug that caused mailstones for friends to be counted incorrectly; - Fixed a bug that could cause the game to crash after certain events; - Fixed a bug that prevented you from participating in a shareholder meeting in the hospital.
Finally, the first major update. It is dedicated to more convenient trading and communication with contacts.
Another small update for the game. Next I will be working on version 0.2 with improved trading, so it will take longer. - Added a few events related to the presence or absence of a car; - Amy can now invite you to go for a walk on weekends; - The chart is no longer updated on weekends; - On the stock exchange, the share purchase multiplier no longer changes the displayed share price; - Fixed a bug with identical names of different companies; - Yakuza will no longer offer you a partnership after the second refusal; - Small rebalancing of company indicators.

Fixes:
- Companies that have been liquidated will no longer leave an empty space on the stock exchange and will no longer appear as NaN in the graph;
- A bunch of fixes to the behavior of people moving to different companies;
- People will no longer work for liquidated companies;

This is something I had planned for the game, but haven't realized yet. Maybe I'll figure out something else thanks to your feedback!
In addition, the game is always subject to minor updates, and the game has already been updated about 10 times since its release, and each time it was a different little fix.
Thank you all!

Hello, fellow traders!
Today I want to tell you about an important thing: the reputation system in the game.
In STONKS-9800, your reputation isn't some fancy metric. It's like your shadow in the game, showing how well you're doing across a whole bunch of things that make up the life of a businessman.
Here's the structure of the criteria that form your reputation:
1. Public Image: This is all about how you are perceived by the general public and the media. It will rise when you maintain a clean and scandal-free image. It's all about PR here.
2. Financial Success: As the saying goes, money talks. Your financial prowess, captured by your total net worth, annual profit, and asset growth, speaks volumes about your business acumen.
3. Ethical Conduct: Here's where your moral compass comes into play. Collaborating with the Yakuza and engaging in illicit activities can offer short-term gains, but will negatively impact this score.
4. Networking: This isn't just about whom you know, but how you maintain these relationships. Attend social events, make the right friends, and your networking reputation will soar.
5. Market Knowledge: Are you on top of the latest trends? Do you have a knack for predicting market shifts? Prove it, and watch your market knowledge reputation grow.
6. Philanthropy: Generous donations and charity work boost your philanthropy reputation. After all, a businessman's role isn't limited to just making profits.
7. Innovation: Pour money into developing and promoting novel technologies or revolutionary ideas. Taking the lead in innovation always makes a mark.
8. Overall Reputation: The ultimate reflection of your standing in the business world, this is the sum total of all the above facets.
Each of these dimensions will not only influence how the world perceives you but also unlock new gameplay possibilities. A solid reputation might attract exclusive deals, special events, and unique opportunities, while a questionable reputation might incite public backlash or even attract government scrutiny.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Hello! It's Ternox. I've decided to start a devlog of STONKS-9800 as I'm getting closer to releasing the game in Early Access. The devlog will continue as long as the game is updated, even after release. I'm excited to share my progress with everyone and give some insight into the development process. Well, you probably already know what the game is about, right? Maybe you've even played the demo and noticed that Amy plays the role of a player's assistant. And I decided to expand her role a bit. But I should warn you that the game is still primarily a fun stock market simulator, so don't expect it to become a fully formed visual novel.
I was thinking... how would you feel about me releasing STONKS-9800 in early access in the near future? I have a lot of minor work to do and I realize that I really need players who will share their experiences so that I can improve the game, as I did with the release the demo. I wasn't planning on releasing the game in early access, but I feel that as a solo developer I need more feedback and it will help and motivate me to develop more actively. And the simulator genre requires a lot of things that I can't keep track of. So, what do you think about it? Discussion
STONKS-9800 was almost ready, but unfortunately, there was a war in my country. Russian troops attacked Ukraine on February 24, and so far it is very difficult for me to develop any games. I'm fine now, but I'm morally exhausted. I hope to return to the development of the game in the near future, as there is currently no active hostilities in my city. Sorry again for the delay. Glory to Ukraine!
