Version 1.15 is now availableHello again golf fans from around the world! I'm happy to say that we're back with a new update - version 1.15 of Super Video Golf is out now
I've previously outlined new features as they were work in progress, which you can read here and here, and now I'd like to summarise all the new things included in the update:
Courses
There are two new full sized courses! Nguyen Valley:

and Hertog Regis:

These courses are focused on more varied terrain, and carry far more hills and contours than existing courses. If you've been yearning for something a little different then these are for you!
Time of Day
There is now a choice between playing during the day or the night - when creating a game just select the Night Time option from the lobby menu. Night time mode includes an all-new lighting system, for added ambience.

Weather
Selectable weather! From the lobby menu it is now possible to select the weather conditions for the round:

And, to accompany the above new features, the Steam rich presence will mark in your friends list the time of day and weather conditions, using the appropriate emojis (that's a moon, not a banana, I promise!):

Other Features
Text rendering in the game has been overhauled to better support non-latin alphabets, as well as adding emoji rendering. With that there is also a new in-game chat feature available in multiplayer.
In both the lobby and main game it is possible to open a chat window with Shift+F8 on the keyboard or the 'North' button (Y on Xbox controllers, Triangle on PS controllers), and via the emote wheel in game with West/X/Square on the controller.

Along with the new chat feature, multiplayer games have been enhanced with a Host menu - the host of the game can now poke idle players, forfeit their turn if they misbehave, or even kick them. Fortunately I've never had to use any of these yet

The stroke indicator has been updated too. When lying in the rough or a bunker it will slowly move, indicating the increased difficulty of the shot.

One of the first things you'll likely notice in this update is the news page, presented when the game starts. From here you can follow links to the latest news posts, as well as to guides to playing or modding the game. Note, however, that this isn't displayed in big picture mode or the on Steam Deck.

Speaking of the Steam Deck, I'm also happy to announce that the game is now available as a native build for SteamOS . The game should automatically update on your Deck, however if it does not then reinstalling it should trigger the update. A special thanks goes out to Kat for helping with the porting the game to SteamOS!

[ 2024-01-08 19:31:57 CET ] [ Original post ] Super Video Golf is a 90s styled turn-based golf game, with 8 player local and network support. Super Video Golf features a variety of full sized courses, pitch 'n' putt courses and mini golf - each of which can be played in a variety of weather conditions, day or night! It has a tutorial mode and a driving range for offline practice, with full online leaderboards for both the courses and driving range. Reaching specific milestones will unlock features such as the clubhouse or the course editor which allows arranging any of the available holes into a custom course, as well as new items such as clubs and balls.
Game modes include:
- Stroke Play
- Stableford
- Stableford Pro
- Match Play
- Skins
- Multi-target

Super Video Golf can be played either as couch co-op with up to 8 players using 1-4 compatible controllers or the PC keyboard, or online with up to 8 computers connecting to a single game. Super Video Golf can also be played as a combination of both allowing up to 16 players in a single round!
Players can customise their characters with a range of designs, hair styles and balls to choose from, with more available in the Steam Workshop. Computer controlled players can be added to a game either to fill out a team roster, to practice against - or simply to pit against other CPU players while you watch and relax. CPU players feature adaptive skill, so as the player's level increases, so does the challenge!
Solo features of Super Video Golf include Monthly Challenges which start at the beginning of each month, as well as a club league where personal progress is pitted against CPU players. The league consists of 24 round seasons, with awards given for top 3 placement and CPU players whose difficulty increases to match the player, season by season.
The clubhouse also hosts all the player's personal stats, such as time spent on each course, the player's score history and any awards received from completing monthly challenges and winning the league.
Every month a new set of leaderboards are created so players can compete around the world to win trophies for placing anywhere in the top 3. Player stats are tracked and broken down by year, month or week and can be viewed from within the clubhouse.
Steam Workshop support means that it is easy to find new customisation options such as new balls or head wear, and even upload your own creations to share.
Super Video Golf supports a wide array of resolutions, from as low as 640 x 480, all the way up to the latest UHD ultra wide displays. Full controller support means that big picture mode is fully supported, ideal for couch co-op play.
