It's the year 2049. The most powerful catalyst for human conflict is blanketing the earth's surface: Zenith, an incredibly powerful substance. After the fall of the old world government Naos, two opposing factions known as the Phoenix and the Eclipse are struggling for world dominion in a new ice age. The Eclipse fight to establish a currupted order, not unlike the tyranny the fallen Naos had put in place before, while Phoenix is desperately keeping them at bay. Defeat the Eclipse, no matter what the cost!

Taking on the role of a young commander you lead your forces to fight the mysterious enemy. You are tasked to halt the advancing legions in their tracks to retake what was once ours.

Hovercraft Customization Screen Progress

This week I've been working on the vehicle customization screen in the assembly.

The assembly is a workshop where you will be able to set up your faction to your liking and preferences, including vehicles, infantry, aircraft and mechs.

Lighting the Assembly

To make the assembly look as good as possible I experimented with different lighting setups and volumetric fog.

My hope was that the volumetric fog would look like smoke filling the workshop.
Although it had a great visual effect on the scene it also reduced visual clarity.

In theory I could have created a shader to achieve the desired effect.
Instead I decided to ditch the idea completely.

Once I removed the fog and improved the lighting even further I focused on creating the user interface.
I even experimented with having a 3D representation of the vehicle operator selected to the right.

The Assembly User Interface

Down below you can see what the vehicle customization screen looks like right now.
The UI isn't finished and you can't select different components yet.

I've made a separate icon for each damage type:
Grenade, Rocket, Cannon, Bullet and Sniper.

One of these icons is displayed for each of the armor's weaknesses.
For example, the Billhook hull has a weakness against explosive, rocket and bullet damage and cannon damage especially.

This is just the beginning, but it should give a good idea of what to expect from the assembly in the future.
