State of the Game #4: Demo Tweaks

Hi everybody, the demo launch has been a blast! Heartfelt thanks to everybody who tried the demo during Tacticon and in the weeks that followed. The game received a lot of feedback and support, and there are many new eyes on the projects, but there has been also some frustration towards the rather high difficulty and unforgiving gameplay of this unsual game. I heard your feedback: I introduced three difficulty settings.

Difficulty Settings

Beginner is the one you start with after the tutorial. Normal should be a bit more forgiving than the old one. Hard is basically the old values, but I had to change some underlying systems so it doesn't 100% translate. Also, many of you struggled with the Croc Boss. It is a challenging fight for sure, that's why it doesn't attack your generator modules anymore for a more streamlined fight. There are also some new art assets (such as the new Grav. Polyps in the caves or the new ooze sprites in the sewers) and some new SFX assets.

Construct your abilities from specialized modules. Some generate energy, some modify or store it and others turn it into effects. Build powerful structures to zap your enemies or conserve charge in batteries for moments of need.

Every combat turn poses tactical challenges where to direct your energy: Into your blaster module to harm the monsters? Into a decelerator to control the timeline? Should you crack a healing potion? Or do you store it in a battery and prepare an even more ambitious move next turn?

In this shattered world, cause and effect are out of joint. Master the art of Gravitonics to move turns forward or backward in time: Dodge volcano eruptions and lightning strikes, slip before your enemies or throw them into a devastating Grav-Spike.

Your adventure leads you through a variety of biomes where tricky groups of enemies try to ruin your day. Compose and patch up your racks wisely to deal with procedurally generated and progressively dangerous threats.
