Love at the Milky Way Diner is a game about cultural exchange through food, building community, and finding love in the process.
200 years after first contact, humanity is still trying to find their place in a galaxy full of far more advanced and established species.
One such human, our protagonist, has recently been laid off from their corporate job on Mars when news reaches them; their distant aunt Cassiopia has passed away suddenly, and she would like one of her relatives to take over her restaurant on the distant deep space station Hesperides.
The protagonist decides to take a leap of faith. They may have never left their home start system of Helios, but surely there must be something (or maybe someone) better out there waiting for them.
When they reach the station they find themselves welcomed by a vibrant, multi-species community of eccentric individuals who are only too happy to welcome the new owner of their favourite place to eat.
Love at the Milky Way Diner will feature 8 love interests, each with their own routes and stories

Hello All!
[p align=\"start\"]We hope that everyone has been having a great summer so far, enjoying the sunny and warm weather.[/p][p align=\"start\"]We\'ve been sharing regular development updates on itch.io and kickstarter, but we figured our steam audience needed an update too. [/p]If you haven\'t checked us out in a while, LatMWD got an updated demo this past June! it includes partial voice acting, CGS, and our new soundtrack so please do consider checking it out.
[p align=\"start\"]Now, onto our main announcement.[/p][p align=\"start\"]The short version is that love at the Milky Way diner will be completed later than we had originally anticipated.[/p][p align=\"start\"]Over the course of the last few weeks as Ive been completing and implementing the new features, the fact that we wouldnt be able to make our November release date became undeniable.[/p][p align=\"start\"]It was rather bold of me to think I could add so many things to the game and expect development to take the same amount of time. But adding voice acting, doubling the character sprite and recipe count, and lengthening the narrative have all taken (and continue to take) more time than I had originally accounted for.[/p][p align=\"start\"]I considered moving the release date to January, that is the absolute earliest we could be finished by, but that timeline wouldnt account for any promotion. Wed be sprinting to release, but not giving LatMWD the chance to reach its full potential.[/p][p align=\"start\"]Then there was a second option; LatMWD takes place over three in-game weeks that provide the main narrative+ingredient selection blocks, so why not release the game in chapters? We could do an early access release this November where players could play the first third of the game and release the next two chapters in February and June respectively.[/p][p align=\"start\"]The first option would mean you all would get to play the full game faster, but the second option would give us more time to polish, to promote, and to add to the story.[/p][p align=\"start\"]With that wiggle room, LatMWD would look a lot more like it was intended to at first before the scope had to be lowered to accommodate a smaller budget. After careful consideration, we deemed this to be the best option moving forward.[/p][p align=\"start\"]We want to make this game amazing for you all, to not only meet your expectations but exceed them. We hope that you will understand and give us time to do so.[/p][/img]
to answer some questions...
[p align=\"start\"]Will I have to pay extra for the patches?[/p][p align=\"start\"]No, they will be added to the game as free updates. We may do paid DLC in the future, but the main story of LatMWD will be contained in these three parts.[/p][p align=\"start\"]I backed at the early access pledge, how will that work going forward?[/p][p align=\"start\"]Backers who backed at this level will get access to all three patches 2 weeks ahead of time.[/p][p align=\"start\"]...[/p][p align=\"start\"]I want to thank you all for your support, your understanding, and your continued love for this silly space game weve worked tirelessly on for the last year and a half.[/p][p align=\"start\"]Best, Emanuelle[/p][ 2025-08-31 00:00:46 CET ] [Original Post]
