Release of Update 1.0.1

Hi everyone, The first update for HexaScape fixes most of the known bugs and improves balancing.

Enhancements:
  • escape on exit game screen switches back to previous page now
  • improved difference between categories and normal entries in Hexapedia
  • reduced default volume of background music
Fixes:
  • fixed cases where malus display connecting two towers was displayed while not being true
  • fixed tower connectors being highlighted that shouldn't be highlighted (e.g. when hovering an adjacent pipeline cluster also data block connectors on the tower got highlighted)
  • fixed display issue showing 4 re-rolls when loading a savegame
  • fixed usernames containing quotation marks not being properly displayed in leaderboards
  • fixed screen markers not being positioned properly on aspect ratios < 16:9
  • fixed scrollbar in Hexapedia overlapping some texts
  • fixed wrong buttons being displayed for tile rotation in controller settings
  • fixed opening Hexapedia while hovering a tower not opening the Towers page
  • fixed under certain circumstances tooltip being still open after undo/restart
  • fixed disabled state of spawners not being properly restored on undo/continue
  • fixed range of EMP ability not getting properly displayed
  • fixed EMP ability buffs for viruses driving through EMP spawners being too high
  • fixed snapping issue opening Hexapedia with context
  • fixed issue with Level effectiveness skills increasing damage way too much
  • fixed viruses still spawning when e.g. finishing a map with the goal to reach a certain wave
  • fixed target mode not getting restored on undo/load
  • fixed infested biome marking wrong slots with its infect on growth
  • fixed bug that sometimes caused tiles to be lying around at places they shouldn't be when restarting/undoing
The next major update in late July will feature new game modes, new maps, and reworked tutorials. If you find any bugs, encounter any problems, or have any suggestions for great additions to the game, let us know in the forums or on our Discord.

  • Make yourself comfortable, put on your headphones, and get ready to conquer cyberspace! HexaScape: Cyber Defense is an addictive mix of hex grid puzzler and tower defense mechanics, creating a compelling turn-based strategy game.

    Board game-like mechanics

    If you know the board game classic Carcassonne, you’ll instantly feel at home in HexaScape. Players determine the course of the game by placing hexagon tiles: they explore cyberspace, expand the influence of the cyber core, and build a defense line with towers that can be strengthened and upgraded by power clusters.

    As you increase the core’s reach, virus spawners will appear. They spawn viruses and grow stronger with each wave – unless you manage to disable them. Each run feels different: The more you expand into cyberspace, the more abilities the viruses can take on, testing your ability to constantly adapt to new game conditions.

    Build unique towers

    Cyber towers are your only defence against viruses. Place them wisely, buff them with power fields, upgrade them with new abilities by completing quests, and use skill points to customize them to your needs.

    Explore cyberspace

    By placing the hex tiles, you explore cyberspace, encountering six different biomes, many different events, and virus bosses hidden on the generator tiles. There’s a campaign with predefined scenarios, an endless mode with procedurally generated maps, maps of the week, and user-generated maps for nearly endless fun!

    Create your own maps

    Create custom maps for new challenges with the powerful editor! Determine where biomes, event fields, and boss fields are located, and add your own story. Play your maps yourself or share them with the community.
