Version 1.2.0: Achievements and stats

Achievements and stats are finally live! There are 39 achievements to collect and 21 stats to track. Some achievements introduce new challenges to the game like walking backward or walking without letting go of the button, while others are based on logging in for consecutive days or on certain dates. steamsunny A full announcement will come next week if this build can be confirmed to be running stably. Another small update in this version is the ability to save fullscreen, bgm and sfx preferences. Version 1.2 introduces a lot of automated tests to the build system to help prevent crashes - but since this is still a large update with a lot of changes to the game engine, there is a good chance there will be issues such as achievements not triggering. Version 1.1.4: prevent crashes from corrupt save data

If the save data file becomes corrupt, like if the power dies during a save operation or a new bug in the program happens, the game is now able to start without crashing. Unfortunately, the save data will not be recovered (that feature will be added in a future update). If your save data is corrupted, email me at cocktail.frank at dank.game and I will provide a save file to restore your data.

Version 1.1.3: Bug fixes, and logging disabled

This is a bug fix update that may slightly improve performance. Logging is also disabled by default (it can be enabled by editing config.json).

  • Remove all calls to `glGetError`
  • Disable logging by default

Version 1.1.2: add version string to pause menu

Small update to help identify technical issues

Version 1.1.1: fix arcade mode bug

The bank HUD upgrade introduced a bug preventing arcade mode from running because it was looking for an old save progress field called "arcade coin". This update removes the "arcade coin" field entirely in favor of the new bank save progress field.

Update to 1.1.0

Fixes a couple of bugs introduced in 1.0.5.

  • Prevent the coin HUD from being transformed in the display effects modes.
  • Fix a bug which loaded the wrong level's coin bank status when resuming a game saved at a checkpoint
Future updates will use the last digit for bug fixes and minor changes and the second digit for new features or other major updates.

Cakefoot officially launches on Steam!

Cakefoot is now available to add to your library! Alongside the Steam launch, version 1.1.0 has been released with improvements to the coin system. It is now easy to tell whether the coin has been collected on each level.

  • The coin appears above your head after you grab it. It remains there while you are holding it, before it has been added to the bank.
  • Once you reach a checkpoint or the end of a level, the coin is added to the bank. If you don't make it to the safe point, the coin is given back!
  • The bank now appears in the HUD, showing clearly which level coins have been collected during a run.
  • The coin sticking out in the bank indicates which level you are on in the quest and how close you are to the final level.
By the way, the coin system is inspired by the strawberries in Celeste. Enjoy Cakefoot on Steam!

Version 1.0.4 released!

Notable improvements to input support include:

  • New dynamic UI that switches between gamepad and mouse modes automatically
  • Ability to add a gamepad or switch to a different gamepad while the game is running
  • Support for either D-pad or analog stick
  • Improved visibility of selected button in gamepad mode
  • Home button pauses the game before the Steam interface is launched
Further upgrades for better Steam input support and gamepad customization are planned

  • Cakefoot is an ultra hard, single-button, minimalist avoid 'em up, inspired by classics such as The World's Hardest Game, Geometry Dash, Flappy Bird, Super Hexagon, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Ralph 4, and The Cat That Got the Milk.



    Hurtling hazards bombard your path as you guide a living slice of cake along a curving line through space.
