Hey all -- Writer/Director of Billy Saves the World here to say hello for the first time in 2025!
Since release, I've cherished all of the feedback I've received in Discord from our very small player base, the YouTube videos, and the positive reviews. I especially love the hand written letter from Tom Cruise who said our game is better than both Top Gun's combined!
It's been very rewarding watching people stream the game, spending well over 20 hours exploring a world I created, finding secrets I never thought anyone would bother with, discovering unique paths through the main quest, and experimenting with different play styles to finish side-quests.
I'm also really happy to see the narrative resonating with those who've put the time in to complete Billy's story, even down to the unconventional ending that seems to have hit with people in the best way.
So... thank you!
But, I'm not here just to say thanks, I'm here to say that our little game will be entering its first-ever Steam event. That's right, for 1 week, starting March 13th, Billy Saves the World will be part of the Steam Spring sale.
It will be available for purchase for just $14.99. That's 40% off!
I really believe in both the value this game provides, as well as the unique experience it delivers. So if it's been on your Wishlist, then there's never been a better time to dive in.
There is so much to see and do in this game. I am confident that it's not quite like anything you've played before. For those that give it a chance and see it through to the end, you will find a hilarious story with a ton of heart, and you'll experience one of the best video game soundtracks in years.
Give it a shot, and for the love of all things cheesy and delicious, leave it a positive review!
Oh, and I'll be back 28 days after the festival ends with some fun news. Until then, have fun exploring Arlet, talking to space llamas, and saving the world and all of that.
Cooper Bibaud
PS. For people who have missed it, there's also a full-color instruction manual with tons of tips and things that I put a lot of effort into. So if you like browsing through manuals like I did back in the day, I made one just for you. Here's a direct link for a free digital copy.
Back with a quick hello so insignificant it's barely worth raising a hand to wave back. Here's what we did in this update:
CH2: Minor design tweaks in the Mainland.
CH2: The Pit level now requires Rogue Gloves to enter it to save players who don't have them from wasting their time.
CH3: Removed "wind" ambience from the level "Speed Test".
CH3: The reason for this update. Fixed a bug in which if players visited the Grotto after choosing to go to Machina, the game would stick when talking to the NPC named Stubs. The game will no longer stick here.
ALSO: We are now officially verified for Steam Deck!
If you notice anything odd, don't be shy. Please feel free to join the game's official Discord and let it be known!
Ho, ho, ho! Merry December 1st!
I'm here with the first update to the game. Nothing super major, but after watching complete strangers play the game online, I decided to add a few fixes I noticed to improve the overall experience of the game.
If you notice anything odd, don't be shy. Please feel free to join the game's official Discord and let it be known! In the meantime, enjoy the following improvements:
-Prologue: Edited the movie sequence scene so that if players stand still, Billy is pushed forward with the moving auto-scroll.
-Prologue: Edited the camcorder art asset in the movie sequence so that it does not appear over top of menus if players press start during it.
-Prologue: Added an executive producer credit in opening credits.
-CH1: Fixed minor issue that allowed players to purchase the sold out app called "Questier Quest" that is meant to simply be a joke.
-CH1: Edited the "cave-in" sequence so that if players stand still, Billy is pushed forward with the moving auto-scroll.
-CH1: Fixed error in which players can skip the Health Booster tutorial in North Arlet.
-CH1: Edited "Lair" -- these are the series of Caves that lead to finding Professor Lee. Slight level design modifications.
-CH1: Fixed two invisible ledges in pits (Arlet West, Lair 2-2, Fireball Alley)
-CH2: Fixed major bug in "Deep" that could have led to a side-quest being skipped entirely.
-CH2: Added more chests and reduced difficulty through design in Mainland.
Hey everyone! Cooper here to tell you that November 26th, 2024, is a big date! When I was five years old I would tell adults that when I grow up, I want to be a "computer game designer". 12 years ago, I decided I would try to make that a reality. 12 years later it is a reality. Yes, you read that correctly. This game took me 12 years to make. It is the definition of a passion project. I started out all alone with no idea how I'd get from sitting on a laptop with zero knowledge of how to make a video game, to a finished project. It was a very long road. It nearly killed me. There were so many times where it felt like the universe wanted me to give up. There were so many times where it felt like there would be no way the game would ever get done. I learned a LOT and I would do everything completely differently if I could go back, but that's what learning is all about. I cannot emphasize how difficult making this game was and how much I learned. But I loved every minute of it and would love to do it again. If you've added my game to your Wishlist, I ask that you please purchase it on November 26th, and maybe force your best friend to do the same. I need to make as big of a splash as I can on that day so that we can possibly get featured. If we get featured, more eyes will be on it and that means more sales. I will never make a profit, or even break even on this, but with enough recoup, maybe I can bring it to other platforms. But more importantly, if I can recoup enough, I will be able to put everything I learned into a second game. I would LOVE to make another game, and I can only do that with your help. So again, November 26th, please help the cause, help Billy save not only THE world, but MY world. The game will be available to purchase for $24.99 in both US and Canada (yes, same price!), and in every other country/territory that Steam allows for a price that they deem fair. Thank you! And I'll be back soon before release to share more news :) [previewyoutube=GDAXKEHFarQ;full]Watch the latest DEVLOG[/previewyoutube]

If you enjoy news that will make your head spin, then boy oh boy do I have something for you.
Hello all! Cooper here again. I am happy to announce that Billy Saves the World has been accepted into Steam's June Next Fest!
This year, the festival will run from June 10th to June 17th. During this time, players will get access to a FREE DEMO of our game, as well as the opportunity to watch two live streams with the developer (hosted by a giant space creature named Grimpen, and his pal Moon Pants), and even WIN STEAM KEYS and get the game for FREE when it releases!
The demo I'll be sharing in June is not just a little teaser, either, it's actually a sizable chunk of the game. And because this demo is so large, I'm excited to say that you will be able to carry your save files over from the demo into the full release of the game.
Wowzers, look at those heads spinning!
The reason for this is that my game has a lot of player choice and freedom built into it, so I thought it would be cool for you to be able to stick to those choices and see where your unique path takes you.
I'll have more to say as we approach the festival, but that's it for now.
If you plan on playing the demo, please join my Discord (for free!) and let me know! If you stream it, or upload a video of you playing it, perhaps I can find a way to feature it. Until then, I'll be uploading new videos of the game on my YouTube Channel, and chatting in Discord.
I'm back!
Who's "I'm?" you ask?
Why, it's me!
Who's "me!" you ask?
Why, it's your least favorite Writer, Director, Designer -- Cooper Bibaud, of course!
Happy 2024, hope everyone has been doing well. Anyone got any resolutions? Mine is to play more games and watch 52 movies this year. Oh, and I'd love to release my first indie game this summer, too. And honestly... it's looking very, very likely!
To respect your time, I will get right to the point of this announcement. Starting... right now: I will be sharing a series of video DevLogs of my game! These videos will be long-form showcases that go over the game's mechanics, show off its environments, reveal gameplay, and much more.
I'm really excited as this is the first true deep-dive of the game, and I hope you'll enjoy watching each one. Below are a couple that I especially enjoyed making, but there's several more already on my channel, and a lot more to be released!
And of course, feel free to Like and Sub and all that.

Greetings everyone! Writer/Director/Designer/ManyOtherThingers -- Cooper Bibaud, here once again! This time, I'm talking about the next exciting step toward releasing our game. If you missed my last post, go give it a read so that you can grab your FREE copy of our game's soundtrack.
For everyone else, let's get down to business.
So I guess there's a thing called Discord and people like it quite a bit?? I know the train left the station years ago, but in an attempt to chase after it and be a part of all the fun, I'm finally here to plant my Discord pole into the ground, scream into the giant void of the internet, wave my arms in the air and let everyone know that: I'm here too! Look at me! I'm cool and relevant! I swear!
Or something far less desperate, I dunno, I'll have my marketing team (me) take another look at my messaging before I officially go with that.
No matter, it's true: Billy Saves the World finally has a tiny little place on the Internet to call home. You can now join our Discord community, open to all, and get yourself properly set up before we launch our game.
I created this Discord not only for Billy Saves the World, but as a place where I can share news on all of the projects I'm working on. It'll be a one-stop destination so that I don't overload your already crowded server list. Best of all, it's brand new! This means you'll have me all to yourself and (probably) be the very first person to join if you do it right now. Go! Do it!
It may be awkward at first, but you've never had this much intimacy with a game creator before. Imagine getting to chat with Kojima whenever you wanted to, you know... if Kojima had never released a game before, worked at a bar at night, and nobody knew who he was. So cool, right?!
Join Now!
Once there, you'll be able to introduce yourself, chat in our general chat area, and help us build this thing from the ground up using our suggestion box. There's a specific category for Billy Saves the World where you can share media (when the game is out), chat about the game with all our fans (me), and eventually complain about that bug that ruined your life (also, when the game is out). Any important news or updates related to BSTW... for example... if a certain DEMO is ready to be played, will be announced right there in the news channel.
From there, there's a category for all of my other projects. For those that aren't aware, I work in film and tv. I've got plenty of movies coming out that I've either written, produced, or even star in! So I'll keep everyone up to date on when they're hitting theatres, as well as future game projects that I'm working on.
Lastly, anyone who purchases a Special Membership from my Patreon, will unlock the Special Group Chat category of my Discord that consists of a growing list of channels ranging from games, movies, tv, to tech, books, sports, travel and more. I'm quite busy making a lot of stuff so I'm excited to find some people who will chat about all the cool stuff I'm missing out on, and maybe help me find my next favorite indie game or movie. So give my Patreon a look if you fancy being super cool.
I hope some of you find this to be exciting! If you want to share a link to a game you've played, ask me a question, or eventually talk about your experience playing the BSTW demo/full game, hop in the Discord now so that you're good to go when all of this starts happening.
Thank you so much for your time, and I'll see you in the Discord!
Hey everyone, writer/director/designer -- Cooper Bibaud here!
I am terrible at using Steam but it's my new goal to learn how to use it to communicate what's going on with this game and even give out little treats, like the one I'm about to give you all!
First, I want to thank everyone who has Wishlisted my game, sent me fan letters and cool fan art, and even the few who've gotten tattoos of BSTWs logo! You're a crazy dedicated bunch! Just kidding, nobody has gotten a tattoo, and I've received zero fan art, but the rest is all true (except the fan letters, that's also a lie). But seriously, thank you for your patience and any interest you've shown my little game.
As a thank you in return, I wanted to let everyone know that I've uploaded the game's entire soundtrack (save maybe one or two songs) on YouTube to stream, entirely for free!
Music in video games is really important to me and it was one of my top priorities to ensure that Billy Saves the World would have not only a memorable score, but one that you could take with you on walks, or when you're studying, or maybe have on in the background when designing your very own game!
I worked closely with both John McMillan and Tom Ratesic and I'm confident the work they've produced has accomplished everything I wanted, and more.
Depending on a few factors (like time and money), I may eventually push out an official release for sale, in which 100% of the profits would go back to John and Tom, but it will also live right here on YouTube, absolutely free for all to enjoy.
Please let me know what you think of it (including our adaptive visualizer!), and what your favorite tracks are. Until my next update, happy listening!
