In preparation the upcoming Steam demo, I have developed a system to automatically spawn enemies given a difficulty. On top of providing more balance and variety, this has given me an idea for a new gameplay concept. I have scrapped the wave system entirely, opting instead to give full control over when mining drills are active. This in turn, gives you complete control over when enemies are spawning.
