The jury at the Queer Games Festival 2024 in Melbourne has awarded Kitsune Tails a silver medal! Check out their site to view all the winners and other shortlisted games.
Creators of custom levels or minigames can easily upload their mods to Steam Workshop with the press of a button from inside the game. Players can subscribe to mods via Steam Workshop and they'll appear automatically in the mods menu, prefixed with a little Steam icon.
You can make custom levels for Kitsune Tails using the free and open source Tiled Map Editor, and make your own minigames using a simple framework using Lua, the same way we made the minigames in the arcade. Check the Steam forum for instructions on how to get started with modding and Steam Workshop.
Many people have asked if Kitsune Tails works on Steam Deck, and this post is here to answer that question: it works great! With a native Linux port and support for all major controllers, including the XInput configuration buttons the Steam Deck uses, Kitsune Tails will be a great experience on your Steam Deck. In fact, many Steam reviews mention how great it works on Steam Deck. Unfortunately, Steam is still doing a staggered roll-out for Steam Deck compatibility review eligibility, so we are unable to request a review for official Steam Deck compatibility at this time. We really hope that we'll be able to do so soon!
Kitsune Tails has a release date! As just announced on Wholesome Direct, our Mario-like featuring queer fox girls will be coming to Steam (Windows, Linux) on August 1st, 2024! But there's also a Steam Next Fest demo out right now for you to play and enjoy. Check out our release date trailer on the store page or on YouTube below. For those of you who enjoyed the demo in the last few days, we've updated the demo build with many refinements based on your excellent feedback. Chief amongst them the super fox power up, which now switches from its own jingle back to the stage theme a little before the power runs out. The rainbow colors also become much more muted as a visual cue for those of you who play with the music off. [previewyoutube=eW3RF5QYzag;full][/previewyoutube]
Kitsune Tails is currently streaming footage for a Steam event!
Today kicks off the Womens Day Event on Steam! With over 200 games made by women-led studios, this Event features games from developers from all over the world, with demos and discounts on select titles, plus previews of soon-to-be released games. During the event we'll be live streaming some exclusive gameplay footage, featuring a haunted house level from Kitsune Tails. Don't worry about missing it, it'll be on loop all week!
Good news everyone, to celebrate the news that Kitsune Tails will also be coming to Nintendo Switch we've put together a new trailer for the game, showcasing Yuzu in different states of power up:
[previewyoutube=pcT80_hs-hg;full][/previewyoutube]
The earth power up has a straw hat which functions like a drill using breakdancing moves inspired by Samurai Champloo, while the arctic fox's ice power up shoots ice projectiles which freezes enemies into solid platforms. Finally there's Yuzu as a tiny fox, a form she reverts to upon taking damage to give the player a chance to recover.
