Harness the religious fervor of your followers to conquer and convert as many city-states as possible, paving your way to sainthood. However, there are many obstacles to success, but with perseverance you will Become a Saint during your lifetime!
Engage in Real-time medieval battles
Engage in small-scale battles with select units making each choice strategic (unit synergies, strengths, weaknesses, blessings...) and allowing you to appreciate all the meticulously implemented details of each battle. The stakes of battle are not through the deaths of your enemies but the conversion of their settlements – because sainthood is not achieved through senseless violence.
Define your creed
Make choices during your journey that will define your political and spiritual traits. This will impact your followers, economy, and conversion strategy throughout the game. Each playthrough presents different moral, cultural, and religious choices, creating many different paths for you to lead down.
Play indefinitely
Even in death, there is opportunity to learn. Should your sainthood be cut short, new challenges and strategies will await your new incarnation. The better you do, the longer your saint will be remembered in the annals of history, so strive to spread your word further and faster than ever.
Discover the medieval Italy
Explore 14th century medieval Italy and its society: beauty and brilliance thrived in the shadow of turmoil, making Italy a masterpiece painted with both glory and grief – all they need now is a new Saint to guide them!

The two game modes are the \"easy mode\" and the \"hard mode\".
What does easy mode do?
[olist]You get more food and charisma at the start,
[/*]You get a little advantage at each attack and parry.\n
[/*][/olist]What does hard mode do?
[olist]Starting food and charisma are lower.
[/*]Food production is lower.
[/*]Bless and curse effects in battle are reduced.
[/*][/olist][/img]
The game saves state after each finished confrontation, when it shows you the resulting map. For example, if you conquered 3 towns, and quit the game, you will have a \"continue\" button from the start scene.

Your saint\'s name has to be unique:
Our idea is that each name results in a saint, saved in your list. And each saint should have a unique name, so if you want to reuse it, it should be \"Peter\", then \"Peter II\", \"Peter III\". If you select \"clear all history\" when you start a game, also the list of used names and saints will be deleted.

Why are battles called confrontations?
In Becoming Saint, in order to convert a town, you have a brawl with the inhabitants: it is not a battle in the sense that it is a setting where both sides are trying to convince and convert the others, and no one gets killed.
Units attack either the energy, faith or courage of others, and once this goes to zero, they will run away.
\n[/img]
Tips for winning confrontations
Curse at the start: try cursing enemy units that have several members right at the start of a battle for maximum damage.
[/*]Buff units at start: you can bless your units (up to a point) right from the start to give them some extra resilience.
[/*]Exploit height: try manoeuvring your throwing units by hand and placing them on higher grounds, far from other units, for maximum advantage.
[/*]Conquer contiguous towns: the cost of travelling is determined from your closest controlled town, so if you go by contiguous towns, the cost in food of marching will be lower.
[/*]Foresee food expenses: When turning believers into followers, try checking the food computation feedback panel for its projects for the future to check whether you can afford them.

Units that are followers of yours and have \"survived\" the last battle will level up every 3 towns conquered. So level up will happen when controlling 3 towns, 6, 9, 12 etc... Units level up after you get to make your speech in the Piazza here:

How not to die when losing confrontations?
You can lose a confrontation and not lose the game if:
[olist]Your charisma is above zero, AND
[/*]You did not bring all your units with you to the confrontation.
[/*][/olist]If you notice during a battle that you are losing it, you can always run away:

Having units on elevation always gives an advantage, both in attack and in defence. Ranged units attack in two ways: if the enemy is far, they throw at it; if the enemy is in contact, they attack as all other units do. They try to attack someone all the time; the only moment they don\'t attack or move is when there is no one in range and no path to reach an enemy. Notice that if you select a ranged unit, its range will be shown on the grid.

Critical refers to \"making a critical attack\", if unit A is critical vs unit B, once per battle, A will attempt a \"critical attack\" against B (if they are fighting), which, if successful, will completely disband unit B. It is not related to or affecting normal attack results. Notice how the full unit panel shows against who the selected unit is critical:

It is meant as a progressive discovery of content.

Where is the politics bless, curse, and trance effect evaluation?
When you are selecting units for a march there is a hints section, that if you close it, it remains closed. Click on the bottom left to reopen it, also notice that the information on bless, curse, and trance effects is always visible.

[p]In order to win the game you need to control at least 13 cardinals and the town of Rome, in no particular order. Here by winning it is intended miniming the time between your death and becoming a saint, which in this case would mean becoming saint while still alive \n\nSPOILER: \"Death down the ravine\" achievement. How do you get this ending??\n\n
Try changing your politics frequently...
\n\nSPOILER How to get more food production?\n\n
Distributing land to people and peasants will definitely increase your food production.
