Updates: October 21st, 2024
The second group stage has been revamped to align with the format used in the 1974 World Cup. Notably, runners-up will no longer compete for the championship; only group winners will advance to the final. Runners-up will now participate in a third-place playoff. This new format will be available when you start a new game.
Two new settings have been introduced in the "Bracket" section of the editor to support the 16-team World Cup format. You can set a specific knockout bracket for either the championship match or the third-placed playoff. These options will only work when the total knockout rounds are set to one for the knockout stage.
The "Suggestions" section has been expanded to include teams from the 2012 and 2016 UEFA EURO tournaments. Default hosts for 2012 and 2016 EURO are also set to Ukraine, Poland, and France respectively.
Several historical flags have been added for various African, Asian, and European teams. -------- Simulator web version: https://simcups.com
