Found of the Final Cult Update 0.17.0.4Fellow Founders!
Today we launch a pretty substantial update that changes the game in a significant way! We have changed the leveling up of your followers to make it more streamlined. This has resulted in major changes to the balance of the game for thing such as: enemy health and damage, follower damage, and boss health. Additionally we have reworked all the followers ascensions now and made them more unique and powerful! Finally we have also reworked status effects and overall increased the ability to spread status effects.

Follower level up change:
- We have cut the amount of times you need to level up a follower to reach its ascension by one.
- This allows us to make it so leveling up happens less often and there are fewer disruptions to the gameplay.
- As there are fewer levels before ascensions each level up feels more impactful to each follower rather than a small increase.
- These changes also allow the player to have more time with ascended followers as you will reach ascensions sooner than before.
Ascensions Rework:
- We felt the ascensions werent really packing a punch in some cases and for some followers one of the ascensions was clearly the better choice than other, so we have reworked nearly all the ascensions.
- All ascensions are now strong and vastly unique from each other.
- This allows for what we intended to do with ascensions in the first place, to customize your followers how you want them to play in the run.
Status Effect Rework
- We have reworked status effects and how the status effect system works as we thought it was a little bit complicated.
- All status effects now are stackable, with more stacks leading to stronger effects, or in the case of bleeding the status effect triggering.
- It is now easier to apply status effects as well, as most followers have upgrades or ascensions that apply status effect with some even applying multiple stacks of it in one go.
- This standardizes how the status effects work, but also gives them a scale where if you have little status effect application on a run you wont notice it, but if you invest into status effects on a run you will see just how strong they can be!

Some Minor Changes:
- Rebalancing of experience gain and leveling up as a result of the changes made to followers level up.
- Rebalancing of the enemies scaling and boss scaling as a result of player level being lower. The scaling has been made a bit more aggressive as the leveling up system has slowed down but became more powerful.
- We have fixed a few bugs!

We are excited to launch another major update for our game that adds to it in substantial ways! We have added achievements that reward you for completing certain milestones now in the game. We have reworked the library fully so it is now more impactful for each upgrade you take. Additionally the library now has bits of lore for you to enjoy and get an idea of the world you are trying to establish your cult in. Shields have been reworked now and changed dramatically as well, to make them feel more impactful. And thanks to our Sound Director we have been able to add a bunch of amazing sounds for all effects in game and background music to the Jungle map.

Achievements and Unlocks
- We have added a new achievement system to the game that will lead to you unlocking whole sorts of things such as passives, boss passives, backgrounds, and other secrets for you to find out! These achievements will be based on various things such as damage dealt, killing certain enemies, and defeating bosses. We feel this system adds another layer of rewards for our fellow cult leaders.
Library Revamp
- The Meta progressions and its screen has been fully revamped! The Meta progression screen is referred to as Ancient Library and the upgrades are now scrolls. The individual amount of Meta upgrades have been lowered but each upgrade is more impactful now. Additionally, each upgrade now also reveals a bit of the lore of that upgrade and the world that you are trying to take over with your cult!
Shields Revamp
- Shields have also been fully reworked now. Shields now drop from enemies instead of being picked while leveling up and now are usable only once! Additionally shields are now unlocked in the Ancient Library at tier 3. We have buffed the shield abilities and added more shields variants so they also feel more impactful.
Sound Design
- We have added a substantial amount of sounds to various things in game such as enemy hit sounds, weapon sounds, pick up sounds and more. These sounds add significant depth to the game and we will be adding more in future updates. Additionally, we have also added background music to the Jungle map and it is a certified banger!

Some Minor Changes:
- We added new backgrounds that can be unlocked through achievements and reworked some of the old ones that felt weak.
- We changed XP scaling to slow leveling up.
- We changed Boss HP scaling as well so its not as punishing but the bosses still feel tankier as you go along.
- We have also fixed quite a lot of bugs as well.

We are excited to bring you a major update that changes our game substantially in many ways! We have added a handy tutorial system that will help all the new Cult Founders understand what it takes to lead their cult to glory. We also reworked the lighting and colour system within the game to help with tracking your character and enemies and reduce visual noise. We noticed that the melee followers were inconsistent and thus reworked them. For detailed information please read below:
General Changes
Tutorial:
- We noticed that when you are playing Founder of the Final Cult for the first time it can be a little overwhelming and confusing. So to help new players out we added a small but helpful tutorial that will explain the basics of the game. This tutorial will first appear when you start your first ever run in the game. But dont worry if you forget or zoom through it! When you are in a run, you can pause the game and there will be a help button that will bring up the tutorial again.
Reworked Lighting and Colour:
- We have fully reworked the lighting and colour system in game so that the action is much easier to follow now. Everything within the game now has an outline to help track it better, such as your character, your followers' attack, enemies, enemy projectiles, and etc. Additionally we have reworked the lighting on everything so that it fits visually better on both maps thus making it help with tracking and reducing the visual noise in late game.
Melee Followers Rework:
- We noticed that the melee followers were inconsistent across their category and compared to other followers so we reworked their attack logic to hopefully make them easier to understand and therefore use. Before their attack would follow their movement and as result make it hard to line them up to hit enemies. Now their attack will complete one swing from when the attack started even if the follower has moved. Therefore it is easier to know when the attack starts and what it will hit.

Win Condition for 20 minute gamemode has changed: Once the timer reaches 0:00 you must also kill all bosses on screen to win the run
There is an attack bar under each recruited follower that indicates when an attack will go off
Followers are now evenly spaced around you
Pick-up visuals have been reworked for Exp Scrolls and Knowledge Fragments: Pick-ups no longer grow in size. A colour scheme has been added to indicate the quantity/quality of the pickup
Character movement rework: Moving around the map should feel more natural and less twitchy
Added a Boss Spawn animation to better indicate the new threat
Bosses and enemies rebalance: Bosses now have a lot more hp and more damage dealt to players, Regular enemies now have more hp and damage dealt to players, Enemies no longer scale their movement speed as time goes on
Added new customization in the menu options allowing players to adjust the following: Screen Shake, Enemy HP bars, Damage Numbers, Particle Intensity
Adjusted tooltips for better visibility
Added helpful tips on the pause screen
Explosion damage is now more consistent
Follower tags now indicate what tags were added (gold) vs what a follower starts with
Entering any inputs on the intro screen will now skip to the main menu
Renamed Shop to Library
Changed the first variant of the axe follower

In Cult Survivors, your goal is to survive the onslaught of cultists and cult leaders that are trying to take you and your cult down! Recruit your very own followers and guide them to their ascended state to help you survive! Improve your cult passively with minor and major teachings. Use ancient knowledge, earned every run, to make your cult stronger permanently.
We are diligently improving and adding onto the game so please wishlist it to follow the development and be notified when Cult Survivors is ready to launch!

Cult Survivors is a rougelike survivor type game where your goal is to defeat enemies and bosses while leveling up with the goal of surviving 20 minutes. With each run you will gain meta currency that you can use to become stronger for future runs.
Overview
Recruit followers and guide them to the right path. Choose the teachings that best fit your cult. Collect ancient knowledge to better equip yourself for your future attempts. And survive the onslaught of other cults and their leaders trying to take you down! If you survive long enough you will be the last cult standing!
