v1.9 From Below Feature Reveal - Ramping Atmosphere
Here’s the fourth feature reveal for the upcoming update, v1.9 From Below. Today we’ll be talking about Ramping Atmosphere. In v1.8, The King got a lot of love in regard to his animations and textures, detailing his descent into madness as the game progresses. Now, the world will plunge into darkness with him. To talk more about this, here’s League of Geeks co-founder and director, Trent Kusters.
Something that we’ve always admired here at LoG is how masterful directors balance a contrast between light and dark and in the process craft truly magical worlds that retain a sense of consequence. They know when to take you down into the depths of their work’s conflict and when to let you back up for air. Duality and contrast has been a major theme of Armello since day one. Wyld, Rot. Day, Night. Etc, etc. However, even through our exploration of this, we’ve always felt that as games of Armello moved forward, the board’s atmosphere never truly reflected the King’s decline and the stakes our Heroes, and the denizens of Armello, faced. We’ve addressed this in our latest update, From Below. In From Below we’ve introduced a number of effects that will layer upon and around the Palace to reflect the King’s decline into madness and the growing presence of the Rot. Similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and furthering our attentive balancing of dark and light, these changes will be localised to the centre of the board only. Thus ensuring that your adventures through Armello remain magical, whilst reflecting the reality of the situation. As the King’s Rot grows, you’ll see Rot Vines grow from the centre of the Palace, ravens will encircle the Palace in greater numbers, and the Palace itself will decay. As the King reaches the final throes of his madness dark storm clouds will appear. An omen of Armello’s end.
Throughout the duration of the game, the following effects will be introduced.
As always, please hit us up if you have any questions and please feel free to discuss below!

Armello is a grand swashbuckling adventure that combines three styles of play; The deep tactics of card games with the rich strategy of table top board games, combined with a character role-playing system.
As a hero from one of the clans of Armello, you'll quest, scheme, hire agents, explore, vanquish monsters, cast spells and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello. The Kingdom of Armello is as dangerous as it is beautiful, perils, banes and bandits hide around every corner and a spreading corruption known as the rot is leaving no creature untouched.
Armello is League of Geeks’ attempt to revolutionise digital board and card games, whilst providing players a rich world within which they can craft their own stories of epic adventure. The aim was to create a rich game full of backstabbing, close shaves, shattered alliances, ruses and empty promises - a perfect game to play with your friends.
