How do I participate in this event?
All you need to do is log in to Armello on Steam during the specified times, 11th December, 3:00pm PT to 13th December 3:00pm PT. You do not need to own any DLC to participate, just the base game.
Do I get to keep the heroes forever if I log in during these times?
No.
This is a trial event. You can play with them as much as you’d like during this event and afterwards they will become locked until their launch as paid DLC on the 20th of December.
Why are you running this event?
Honestly, the only window we had available to release the Rivals was in late December, but our crew also needs to have a holiday - which just so happens to begin two days after Rivals launch on December 20th.
These heroes have been extensively tested by our external testing community and our in-house quality assurance staff for months, but game development is the wild wild west and anything can happen when you throw thousands of players at new content.
With the introduction of any content comes a certain amount of risk, and we want to assure that we get the best chance to catch any potential problems as early as possible.
So we figured this is an awesome opportunity to let you, our awesome community, try our new Heroes for free, while also ensuring the build is as stable and solid for the holiday break.
We’d be happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have about this.
Why is this Steam only?
We have total control over the Steam build and as such can prepare and pivot on builds as fast as we can move, but turning around console and mobile builds require an extensive preparation and submission process. This trial will fortify the build in preparation for it to land across all of our non-Steam platforms too.
Why are hero packs paid DLC?
We’re now in our third year of post launch support for Armello, and we’ve updated the game nine(+) times with significant, free gameplay updates. Check out the history of our updates
here.
Each item of paid content has its own production budget and timelines, as well as revenue targets, with the goal that it will help fund development of the next free update or next paid DLC; And so the cycle continues. Without putting a price tag on our more premium content, which is incredibly costly to develop, we simply would not be able to afford its creation.
DLC helps us make money, allowing us to eat food, get haircuts, and make more cool premium AND free content.

What’s the most cost-effective way to get these new Heroes?
Technically, grinding Chests, Keys, Dice, Skin Fragments and Skins in-game and selling them on the Steam Marketplace to offset the price.
Otherwise, they will be added to the Armello Collector’s Edition bundle. Please note that if you own everything in the bundle in it’s current form, you can actually purchase it THROUGH the bundle once we add the Rivals, applying that sweet sweet bundle discount. Should I say bundle more?
