Game Development: Listed WoundWe've been developing, and here's what's new.

New Implementations
-----------------------
- Added a "News" prompt to the Character Selection screen. When you log in, you will, thus, be presented with a list of previously unread announcement posts. May need some arting, but works for now. Note that it will not show anything this first time you log in, as all old threads are considered read.
- Added automatic propagation of wound treatments. Wounds will now dynamically and programatically list their treatments, and, inversely, medicines will likewise present the wounds they can treat. This saves us the trouble of manually maintaining wound treatment documentation, and guarantees more accurate, easily propagated, and properly maintained lists. Made some effort to clean out the old, manual texts, but may have missed some.
Key Fixes
-----------------------
- Dropped, as announced for a few years or whatever now, support for the old pre-render-rework game resources. Yay!
- "Catapult"s can now only destroy ships and other siege engines.
- Ranges for "Archery Tower"s and "Catapult"s are no longer randomized, but rather fixed to their medium ranges (~20 tiles for "Catapult"s, and ~18 tiles for "Archery Tower"s)
- Reworked ingame transfers of account-bound items (e.g. Store hats)
- Account-bound items (mostly store hats) can now be handled and worn by characters not on the account the item is bound to. Naturally, they can still be recalled by the owner at any time, even if, for example, the handling character is offline.
- Account-bound items are no longer transferred to other accounts by right-clicking a character to give them to. Rather, the owner can right-click the item to initiate a transfer. 24 RL hours later, any character who is in physical possession of the item at that time can right-click it to actually claim ownership of it. "Physical possession", here, means having it on their actual character (ie. in the character inventory, or equipped), as opposed to it eg. lying in a container.
- Once the 24 RL hours have passed, the item will be ready to accept new ownership indefinitely. This status can be canceled by the owner by recalling the hat from the Hearth Fire. Contrariwise, if you have hats that you know you want to trade with, you can put them in such "tradeable status" well in advance.
- The main intention with this change is to prevent sudden, unintended or forced hat transfers. It is probably unsound that wearing a store-hat is as wearing a bullseye.
Small Fixes
-----------------------
- A member leaving a village no longer costs the village any authority.

As always, if you liked what we did here: Support the patch.
Today's Patch Item, for the fair price of $7 is the "Caiman Cap".
$7Lying in wait in dark waters for passing prey, with sharp, glistening teeth.
All Silver & Gold subscribers have been awarded the "Caiman Cap", free of charge.
In the Pipe
-----------------------
- The year got off to a pretty rough start on account of (both of us) having been (quite) ill. Back in the saddles now, and hoping to deliver meatier things down the line!
- Some of the changes here could be controversial. Happy to take input on most anything!
- Our primary development direction is toward object-controlled-objects.
- Time to... like us on Facebook?
- Time to... follow us on Twitter?
Enjoy!
[ 2025-01-31 21:57:47 CET ] [ Original post ] Haven & Hearth is a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game) set in a fictional world loosely inspired by Slavic and Germanic myth and legend. The game sets itself apart from other games in the genre in its aim to provide players with an interactive, affectable and mutable game world, which can be permanently and fundamentally changed and affected through actions undertaken by the players. Our fundamental goal with Haven & Hearth is to create a game in which player choices have permanent and/or lasting effects and, thus, providing said players with a meaningful and fun gaming experience.

- Develop your character to unlock new Skills, Abilities, and Credos.
- Devour sumptuous feasts of food and drink to increase your Strength, Intelligence, Agility and other base Attributes.
- Study sundry Curiosities of nature and artifice to gain Learning Points to increase your Farming, Masonry, Exploration and other Abilities.
- Experience oddities and obscure situations to gain experience points and cast or incant the spells and charms of Hearth Magic.
- Discover materials previously unknown to you to unlock new recipes for Crafting & Building.
Hunting & Gathering
- Slay vicious beasts of nature, flay their hides and tan for leather.
- Make sausages of Boar, and smoke Sea Gull Meat. Feasting and a varied diet is important to all Hearthlings.
- Forage rare flowers to Study, or bind them into bouquets for additional Learning Points.
- Traverse the vast- and wilderness of Haven & Hearth's procedurally generated world and gather rare Herbs, Mushrooms and Flowes.
- Pick wild seeds to grow into domestic crops for Farming, such as Grapes, Wheat, Carrots or Peas.
- Tame wild animals to raise Livestock like Cows, Pigs, Goats or Reindeer. Ride like the wind upon mighty Horses wild and tame, and breed your animals to ever rising qualities.
- Fish or cast nets in Rivers, Lakes, Oceans or Caves to catch a wide variety of aquatic life such as Cod, Perch, Bream, Halibut, Clams, Crabs, or Lobsters.
- Should true bravery inspire you; Venture into the depths of the cavernous underworlds of Dungeons such as Beaver Lodges, Bat Caves, or Ant Hills. Thraximundar's Vicious Hive of Tyranny awaits!
- Dig deep and greedily down multiple levels of caves, to extract minerals, ores, and precious gems from the inky fathoms below the plane of the Hearth. Mining and Forging are essential for progress, but rumors speak of Trolls in the deep!
Crafting & Building
- Terraform the Hearth by digging, paving, plowing or planting.
- Hearthlings are the wolves of Hearthlings: Stake a Claim to your corner of the Hearth to protect it from roving bands of others.

- Smelt ores for metal, and refine further metallurgical advances in Finery Forges and Steel Crucibles.

- Decorate with a wide variety of wall mountings, lanterns, shelves, tables, cupboards, and many other pieces of furniture.
- Construct Boats & Ships to carry you across the oceans blue, from humble Coracles to mighty Knarrs.
- Upload Custom Graphics to give that extra flair to banners, shields, flags, capes, and sails!
- Cycle and recycle your production line, acquire better materials and refine your production chains to increase the Quality of all produce.
- Things are what you make them; Watch the color and tenor of the Variable Materials you use reflected in the things you build and make. Should the Rocking Chair be made from Cherry, Maple, or Oak?
