The King Cat Clicker Demo will be removed on November 30, 2024, we are approaching the official launch date which will be in January, 2025, so we decided to remove the Demo version from the Store. Enjoy of the Demo until the end of November!

The King Cat Clicker

Im excited to announce that The King Cat Clicker will be participating in the Winter GDWC (Game Development World Championship) under the Best Indie category. While winning an award might be a long shot, just being part of such a major event with my very first game is already a huge accomplishment for me. Thank you for your support!

I see The King Cat Clicker as a casual, fun game where players can enjoy the adorable cats while exploring different visuals and maps. However, I understand that players will always find their own correct way to play, even if that includes using external tools like AutoClickers. As a developer, its my responsibility to ensure the game works as smoothly as possible. Ive tested some of these external scripts and managed to identify and fix some achievement issues and FPS drops you reported. However, I can't guarantee flawless performance with external programs, as they vary greatly in functionality. For the best experience, I recommend playing The King Cat Clicker as it was designedwithout external tools. But, of course, its entirely up to you. I create, you play :)
As for my next project Ive already completed the settings menu, and Im in the process of negotiating the character art and environment design. This game will be my big bet, and Im investing a lot to make it special. And yes, Ill continue my tradition of translating the game into all 29 supported Steam languages because I dont want anyone left out!

Thank you for helping me reach the milestone of 180 Wishlists! My goal is to reach at least 1,000 by the launch date. Last Sunday, I challenged myself to create a survival roguelite in less than one day to test some mechanics for a future game. Afterward, I made a few small improvements and decided to release it for free because I thought it was interesting. Its just a quick and free game, and I wont be working on it anymore. One of my original game ideas was to create a roguelite similar to Vampire Survivors and Brotato, but I didnt feel ready for that, and I wanted my first experience publishing on Steam to be a smaller project. The learning process has been incredibly valuable. Ive learned a lot about what to avoid and how to improve while working on The King Cat Clicker. These lessons will definitely help me create a truly great game in the future. Ill still be working on The King Cat Clicker, but I have to be realistic. I only started learning Construct3 in July, and after just two weeks, I was already publishing my first game. I believe my dedication has allowed me to make incredible progress, but a game made in just one month, even with a lot of effort, may not be enough to change my life. I hope Im wrong and that The King Cat Clicker sells very well. If that happens, Ill gladly invest in adding more content and frequent updates. Otherwise, Ill make quality-of-life improvements and focus on the next projectalways bigger and better!

This has been an interesting week... I finished the final version of the game and I've already started sending hundreds of emails to content creators, curators, streamers and luckily so far one has decided to create a video about the game, you can check it out on YouTube: [previewyoutube=JQkDLIjsWxY;full][/previewyoutube] I would like to thank the curators who have already added reviews to the game, and especially those who gave me feedback on improvements and corrections. This week we had an interesting increase in the wishlist, I confess that I was sad because the amount remained the same for days and even weeks, but this week we had an increase of 5-10 per day, I thank everyone who added the game to the wishlist. I would also like to thank you for your engagement on Twitter/X, I feel like we are getting better reach, but I would like to let you know that it is possible that we will no longer be using Twitter/X as there is a high chance that it will be banned in my country.

We have reached the end of another week and with it some news. I made changes to the game covers, I believe they are much better now. I started sending emails to YouTubers and content creators about the game, I appreciate the positive feedback from some, it encourages me to continue. Steam has confirmed the participation of The King Cat Clicker in the Steam Next Fest, I'm happy with this news, I believe it will be crucial for the promotion of the game. I will stop sending emails and focus on finishing the game. Once it is ready, I will be able to focus solely on promoting it, and I could start sending early access keys to content creators. I believe this will be the little push the game needs to grow.
The game is close to being finished, this week I finished the chest and rebirth system, now it is possible to buy and equip all the items in the chest, even those that use Gems from the Rebirth System, I will now analyze the game balance, so that the price of the items and the time to get each one are pleasant. I finished all the background maps for the game, you can see that the prints in the Steam store are already different and with some new maps. I believe that next week I will be able to finish the game, for now I need to create the volume bar and correct the item prices, after that I will probably just be testing and polishing the game, without making any new additions.

Some adjustments made in this version were to the way the game's critical hit chance works, now it is happening much better. A button has been created within the settings menu so that it is possible to return the game to its original version, in case you want to create some content about the game, check which are the best upgrades, challenge yourself or just start all over again... this button will be interesting for you. Some changes to the sound level have been made, As mentioned in Weekly News #3, I made changes to the way things are saved, I believe the game is more fluid and allows future changes without losing save, not everything is being saved in this new way, but what was important for the Demo has already been changed, for the final version I will be giving more rigorous attention to this function. I also checked the game translations, some were not appearing correctly due to the way the texts in the game appear, some translations needed more space or small changes and have already been fixed, the biggest problems were in the Chinese, Korean and Thai translations but they have also been fixed, I hope all the texts are now correctly readable. It is not included in the Demo version, but the problem of the rat making the sound several times with each click has been fixed. I'm currently working on the rebirth system and the store items that will be purchased using Gems, I'll also be working on adding a volume bar to the menu. All these changes that I will be making now will be available in the Closed Beta until the game is released. I would like to first thank everyone who played the Demo version and added it to the wishlist. We have reached the mark of more than 250 players (counting only those who downloaded and started the game), and over 80 wishlist additions. I'm working on some improvements that I intend to put in an update of the Demo Version, my idea was not to modify the Demo Version until the game's release, but I believe that they are important corrections and that they will bring it closer to the quality that I hope to present in the Release Version. Some Banners and Capsules on the game's Steam page had their art updated, I believe they have a better look now, but I would like to know your opinion. The next Demo Version will feature all the updates described below.
I've been working on ways to make the upgrades in the store more interesting, so I decided to create 12 color variations for each kitten in the upgrade store. Previously, there were only 3 or 4 colors depending on the upgrade and they would alternate with each new upgrade purchased. I changed this system so that every X levels the cat's color changes, starting with the color White and reaching the color Orange at the maximum level. With this, some balancing adjustments were made. Previously, only upgrades that had some relation to time or percentage of chances had a maximum level. Now, all of them have a maximum level. Some upgrades, such as the amount of coins earned per click, which logically should not have a maximum level, will have their "progress" related to the previously mentioned rebirth system. The idea is that it is even difficult to reach the maximum level in certain upgrades. If you do, you will be able to go further in your earnings using the items acquired with the rebirth system. I believe this is a good way to encourage and make the use of this system something fun and not something you intend to avoid. Some improvements I made to the store interface were also the texts that inform what that upgrade does. Previously, all the texts were described below the item in the store, but I felt that they were visually polluting the player's screen. Now these texts will only appear when the player passes the mouse over that item, while the others will remain invisible. Also in the store improvements, now the player knows what the next color of the kitten or drum will be when acquiring the upgrade, for example when reaching level 4 in Earnings per Click, the kitten will remain white, but inside the store it will be gray, indicating that in the next level this will be the color of the kitten. I'm also working on the Luck/Critical calculation, because the way it works today is extremely difficult to happen even when reaching the maximum level. I am also checking the way the game is saved because I currently need to change the save location to introduce changes to the game's scenario, which may cause some players to lose their progress. I intend to make this improvement in the Demo Version. I will also be adding a Reset Game button, unlike the rebirth system where you are rewarded for starting the game again, this button will only be for players who want to "delete" their progress, I believe it is something interesting for Content Creators or people who want to challenge themselves or really start everything from the beginning, use this button carefully as there will be no going back.

Developer Notes
I would like to first thank everyone who played the Demo version and added it to the wishlist. We have reached the mark of more than 250 players (counting only those who downloaded and started the game), and over 80 wishlist additions. I'm working on some improvements that I intend to put in an update of the Demo Version, my idea was not to modify the Demo Version until the game's release, but I believe that they are important corrections and that they will bring it closer to the quality that I hope to present in the Release Version. Some Banners and Capsules on the game's Steam page had their art updated, I believe they have a better look now, but I would like to know your opinion. The next Demo Version will feature all the updates described below.
Updates
I've been working on ways to make the upgrades in the store more interesting, so I decided to create 12 color variations for each kitten in the upgrade store. Previously, there were only 3 or 4 colors depending on the upgrade and they would alternate with each new upgrade purchased. I changed this system so that every X levels the cat's color changes, starting with the color White and reaching the color Orange at the maximum level. With this, some balancing adjustments were made. Previously, only upgrades that had some relation to time or percentage of chances had a maximum level. Now, all of them have a maximum level. Some upgrades, such as the amount of coins earned per click, which logically should not have a maximum level, will have their "progress" related to the previously mentioned rebirth system. The idea is that it is even difficult to reach the maximum level in certain upgrades. If you do, you will be able to go further in your earnings using the items acquired with the rebirth system. I believe this is a good way to encourage and make the use of this system something fun and not something you intend to avoid. We are now in the second week since the game was officially announced, and it is with great pleasure that I announce that the Demo version is now live. Play, try, and test The King Cat Clicker, any opinion you have about improvements or what you expect in the final version of the game, I will be very happy to hear it, just get in touch on any of our social networks below I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Milanote team for giving me additional credits in their tool. I use it as a way to organize my tasks for the development of the game. I cannot afford the Premium version, and the free version has a limit of 100 items. However, by contacting support, they allowed me to use up to 600 items... so thank you very much!!
As mentioned in the last Weekly News, I changed the upgrade shop system and created a system to purchase Skins. This way you can be playing with your favorite cat, using the hat you like the most and on the map you like the most. Previously, changes to hats, cats and maps were tied to the level of certain upgrades. When you level up these items, you will still see changes in the game's scenario, being replaced by kittens. The hats, cats and maps will now be in another layout similar to the store, which we will call Chest, inside the chest you will be able to buy and equip your desired map, cat, and hat, this system is already available in the Demo version The idea would be to use coins to acquire these customizable items, and certain items will be acquired using Gems, which you will acquire in the new system that I am implementing, which we will currently call Rebirth, you will sacrifice your upgrades and coins in exchange for a quantity of gems, I am thinking of making the items acquired with gems more special because they will give advantages to the player, such as bonuses in earning coins. I finished the version of the settings menu, containing the 27 base languages and options for Window Mode and Disabling the game's music. I have currently added 2 languages to the game, namely Portuguese from Portugal and Spanish from Latin America, as well as adding the option to disable sound effects. I also adjusted the volume of certain sound effects after receiving negative feedback regarding the volume of coins. These last items were not implemented in the current Demo version, but I plan to put them in soon so that the Demo version has a better experience. My idea is to have a great Demo for the Steam Next Fest. I made improvements to the scale of some Sprites, which drastically reduced RAM consumption, I believe the game is quite light now. As mentioned, the Demo version is now available for download on Steam, I also published a version on Itchio, but it will no longer be updated, the ideal is to play the Steam version, the Demo version on Itchio will only be for promoting the game.
