Total Loadout Patch 0.13.1 - NEW Items, Keywords and More!

Hey Champions - new things galore in patch 0.14.0! Two new items, three new keywords, one new item rarity, balance changes, and more - all from your feedback over the last few weeks...lots to try here! We've heard you on weapon targeting/randomness in Total Loadout, the feeling of consumables as a build and a lot more, so these changes look to shake things up in those areas - would love to hear how they feel for you. Battle start effects now being 'Auras' that can be removed when an item is destroyed, as well as two other new keywords and mechanics in 'Accurate' and 'Spillover' should also mix things up a bit! Find a summary of changes below - rather than make the patch notes super long here, we've given insight/comments on why we've made changes over on Discord. Major Changes:


New Items Unstable Core: Core Set, Unique Consumable with 3 charges. Ability: When an Adjacent Consumable is triggered, give it 1 Charge (the number of charges the Unstable Core has and it gives to other Consumables increases by one for each level up) Pocket Watch: Alice, Unique. Ability: Battle Start: damage adjacent items to half health and then refill to full health (this happens 2 times at level 2 and 3 times at level 3) New keyword: "Accurate" Definition: Always hits a weapon, if a weapon can be hit. Items affected: -Targeting Monocle: now gives Accurate to an adjacent weapon (and more weapons as it increases in level) -Spotlight Buddy: now gives Accurate to an adjacent weapon (and more weapons as it increases in level) in addition to Remove Taunt -Eagles' Javelin: now has Accurate, paired with its ability to hit the item with the lowest health. Without taunt items present, it will always hit the lowest health weapon. New keyword: "Spillover" Definition: Apply overkill damage from an Attack to a random adjacent weapon Items affected: -Sentinel Amulet: now also has Spillover -Swift Edge: now gives Spillover to items it hits, plus Damage Area. Price increased from 6 to 10 Credits. New keyword: "Aura" Definition: This item's effect is active as long as it's not destroyed. Items affected: -Targeting Monocle -Cat's Charm -Finesse Bracers -Peppered Soup -Sugared Almonds -Duchesse Tea Service -Olympic Strike Boots

Smaller Changes:


Cost changes: Most items have had their cost reduced by 1 credit since their effect isn't guaranteed for a whole battle anymore. Exceptions: -Olympic Strike Boots: kept the same price as it was originally slightly overpowered. -Finesse Bracers and Cat's Charm: reduced by 2 credits as they were originally too expensive for their power level and constraints. New rarity: "Unique" Definition: As rare as a Legendary Item but only one copy can be present in the player's loadout at any time Items affected: -Monkey Fur: This has quickly become a staple of Monkey King's strategy. It enhances Sun Wukong's strengths and enables powerful, quick-scaling builds while shutting down opponents. Multiple copies could make battles non-interactive, so we're keeping its powerful effect but making it unique, letting it scale with level-ups. -Unstable Core: new item. See description below. -Pocket Watch: new item. See description below New mechanic: Applying a keyword to a weapon increases the effect of that keyword with the item level Items affected: -Targeting Monocle -Spotlight Buddy -Monkey Fur

Other balance changes


-Divine Empowerment (Trinket): reduce weapon increase per attack from 5 to 3 -Whack-Back Glove: increase from Reflect 2 to Reflect 6 - its a big punch now! -Cat Charm: base health increased from 2 to 4 - being an aura and not a battle start effect anymore, health matters.

Total Loadout Patch 0.13.1

In line with our first Dev Update, this weeks patch focuses on some quality of life changes that youve requested, alongside some things weve wanted to get into the game since Next Fest. Big Changes:


Matchmaking: -Updated Fame gain to make it easier to progress from division 1 to 2. -Divisions 3, 4 and 5 now share one matchmaking pool. -It is now much less likely to face your own previous loadout. -It is now much less likely to face the same opponent twice in a row. Dev notes - weve heard feedback from you since the demo launched on early game difficulty, how matchmaking feels and not wanting repetition in your battles. We want new players to games like Total Loadout to have an easier time learning against similarly skilled players, whilst giving experienced inventory managers/auto-battlers a more varied experience in higher divisions. Moving winning players to division 2 more quickly should hopefully help with that. Our demo has only been out two weeks - so, its early days, and we know that steadily growing the player base will increase the variety of battles. That said, there are other levers we can pull in the short term, so we hope these changes will increase variety. Even in games with huge player bases, its worth noting that in terms of competitive ladder matchmaking, you will start noticing the same players at a high enough point too, as the population gets smaller playing at that skill level

Gameplay Changes:


-Death triggers are now handled before health change triggers. For example if an item with a consumable triggering at half health next to it gets one-shot and gets revived, the revive happens first and then the consumable applies. Dev notes - let us know how this feels for you!

Bug Fixes:


Items: -Alice dice now correctly drops only E rank items. Alice gamblers will now get less valuable payoffs as originally intended

User Interface and Visual Changes:


UI: -Player exit screen now included, informing players of upcoming features in the full game, and providing links to 1TK Socials -Visual treatment added to distinguish weapons from other items -Merge connection line no longer shows initial position during a drag. -Bug report popup improved. -When temporary damage increases (like Cloudwalking Boots) are applied, they are now shown in the UI as well. -Tutorial black background now fades in, hopefully making it more noticeable. -Improved wishlist popup visuals.

Dev Update 1 - Life after Next Fest!

Hi everyone, Here's a quick update on our plans for the weeks ahead! Firstly, we wanted to share a *massive* thanks from all our team for wish listing Total Loadout and trying the demo of Total Loadout during Steam Next Fest. It was amazing to see so many of you leap in and try our first game for the first time - wed love to hear any feedback you may have in our Discord server, or through the survey links in-game. If you didnt have time to try the demo last week, its staying on Steam, so jump in anytime and let us know what you think!

The Weeks Ahead


So, whats next? Weve had a load of great feedback and constructive criticism from you already - for the next few weeks well be jumping into some work that should help make our demo even better based on things you've asked for and we've noticed/had on our list. We also want to experiment around some things that are fairly central to our game (such as weapon targeting and one or two mechanics). Here's the short-term plan: -New Player Experience - polishing up the tutorial, training division and helping new players get into Total Loadout more easily. -Division Balance/Matchmaking - looking at the number of divisions we have, how people move between them, and how we matchmake/create battles. -Balancing around current gameplay and content - looking at Alice, Sun Wukong, and items in the game to address specific gameplay, item and build feedback youve given us. Weapon targeting/RNG, taunts as a mechanic, and consumables are on our list.

(Testing) Major Changes!


Some of these gameplay changes could be quite experimental, and fairly major changes to the way the game feels. As a result, wed love you to be able to play and test changed (and new!) mechanics and content in the coming weeks. We'll update in our Discord when we've decided the best way to support this.

What about Items and Champions? I want new stuff to play!


Hear you - we're still working on those! If we make a change to weapon targeting in some form, for example, that will have fairly major impacts on both Champion kits and Items. By testing some of the above first together with you, we can understand the impacts on future content we have planned. We need to put the horse before the cart, rather than the other way round steamhappy Hope that makes sense! Patch 0.12.0 Update! : Welcome all you new Champions! Its been amazing to see you all playing Total Loadout and battling away - thank you so much from our whole team! Steam Next Fest is a massive week for us, we hope youre having a great time, and if you are, do let your friends know about us ;) We dont want to be too risky with major game changes during this week - that said, heres a patch with some quality of life improvements based on your feedback Weve also added Russian and Korean languages to the game too. Weve had lots of great thoughts already on gameplay, items and more, and would love to hear what you think! We had feedback that our starter division could be challenging for new players to the genre - this should give people a more gentle introduction to the game, without taking too much time. Let us know what you think! Added Russian and Korean Languages in-game / ! Bug Fixes: Found a bug? Hit the settings button and report bug in-game! Items: -Carbon Fibre Plating Trinket - now giving 5hp on Taunt Items as intended -Modular Sword - level 3 Modular Sword now gets correct amount of health. -Red Paint Brush - fixed a bug where the Red Paint Brush would only trigger once per turn, even if multiple consumables were triggered during that turn. Other Bugs: -Fixed a bug where users with Steam usernames shorter than 3 or longer than 20 characters could not log in. Oops - a left-over from our web testing! -Fixed a Connection Lost bug some players were experiencing, when their connection was fine. It wasnt you, it was us. Sorry - should be better now! -Fixed a crash when revive items were placed next to Recurring Shiv, We are delighted to enable further necromancy. -Fixed a bug where you could get promoted beyond our current top division. Congratulations to the player who managed to achieve this steamhappy -Fixed a bug where weapon tooltips did not show their updated stats after being revived and losing their temporary buffs. User Interface and Visual Changes: Art: -Updated battle screen visuals Were trying a new battle screen that hopefully helps people focus on the action a bit more. Let us know what you think! UI: -Added a warning popup when trying to enter battle without a weapon. -Added a hide button for trinket select popup (no interactions are possible until trinket selected). A community requested feature, and one weve wanted in for a while! Thank you! -Added a back button in tutorial messages. -Darkened tutorial overlay and added a sound to each step. Feedback from you that this was easy to miss on occasion - does this help? -Added a feedback popup when quitting the game. -Added tooltips on empty trinket slots, unequip all button and item catalogue. -Added a concede confirmation popup -Added displaying added reflect value in floating text.

Total Loadout Demo coming this Monday to Steam Next Fest!

Hey everyone, Were excited to share that Total Loadouts first public demo will be coming to Steam Next Fest, from Monday 24th of February - that's this coming Monday! After months of work and some small playtests, were really excited to see what you and everyone think of the game steamhappy The demo will be live Monday after lunchtime in Europe, where our small team is based. We dont have a specific time yet, but if youve wishlisted on Steam, you should receive a notification when the demo is available, so keep a look out here and on our social channels!
Our demo will have two fully playable Champions to start with - Sun Wukong and Alice in Wonderland, with Tanuki and Robin Hood planned for the future. You'll be able to get stuck into (we hope) hours of gameplay with these two, their special abilities, weapons and items, and our whole Loadout of core items that all Champions can use. We'll drop a post here when the demo is live - Steam Next Fest actually starts for real at 6pm UK time/GMT, so keep your eyes out for some streaming on our Steam page from our dev team and much more! Welcome to Total Loadout!

Hi everyone, Welcome and thanks for checking out our new game, Total Loadout! Were a small team of strategy game players who play a lot of trading card games, deck builders, roguelikes/lites, inventory management and a whole variety of auto-battlers too. Our inspiration for Total Loadout came from us wanting to make a game we love playing, with our own unique take on many genres and games that have inspired us. The world of Total Loadout is a battle of brains and brawn, as Champions from across time and space compete in a gameshow that's broadcast across the multiverse! Pick your Champion, put together a smart Loadout with unique weapons, items and abilities, then test yourself against other players.
