Post Next Fest bugs and improvements!Once again, thank you everyone who played the demo during Steam Next Fest! Got a lot of great feedback!
This update has a few quality of life improvements and a couple of bug fixes!
Bugs:
Scene Transitions:
- Fixed a bug that caused you to get stuck on a black screen if you exited the level immediately.
Control Deadzone on triggers:
- Fixed an issue where you had to almost fully hold in the triggers to get the forklift moving. You can now move much slower and more accurately when using a controller. This in turn also helped me improve the turning and handling of the forklift!
Features/QOL changes:
Respawn Button:
- Respawn buttons now require you to hold the button for 3 seconds in order to respawn. This will prevent accidental pushes of the button
Placement Zones:
- You can now take liftables out of the placement zones. Some players pointed out in the train level they were forced to restart.
World Map:
- Requested a lot haha, players will now appear outside of the level they just finished/exited
- Increased the speed of the forklift on the level selection, as some players pointed out the forklift seemed much slower with the zoomed out camera

Bugs:
Farm:
- Fixed issue where collider was preventing players from putting hay bales over the fence
Death:
- Fixed an issue where players were dying immediately when on a slight incline
Features/QOL changes:
Level Tasks:
- Level tasks have been updated to be more accurate, ie: Dungeon had quite a bit of liftables, updated tasks to reflect which ones are needed
Trainyard:
- Repositioned level closer to the gate and under a light to stand out more to players
- Made hidden crate slightly more noticeable
Tutorial:
- Moved first liftable, as it was blocking the word "To" in the instructions
Certification Notification:
- Updated notification to stay on screen slightly longer. Players found they were disappearing too fast

- Fixed issue with shader where item at a far distance had weird lines, very noticeable in the world map

- Fixed issue where demo certification would keep popping up even if it was complete
Pallet Liftables:
- Replaced pallet liftables with freight boxes instead. Did this as pallets did not work well with new feature to lift from any side
Farm:
- Updated boundaries on level and liftables were getting stuck outside of fence
Features/QOL changes:
Menus:
- You can now press back button(Escape or East Button) to go back to previous menu or un-pause. Along with this I've added the control mappings to control menus
World Map:
- Zoomed camera out to give better view of map
Respawn message:
- Updated respawn message to show immediately on death
[ 2025-02-20 00:05:40 CET ] [ Original post ] Forklift Freedom Update Pick Up from Any Side!After a lot of feedback on not being able to pick up liftables from all sides, I have done it. You can now pick up liftables from any side it falls on. No more waiting for liftables to respawn! Excited to see how some of the puzzles are dealt with now!

[ 2025-02-15 19:04:50 CET ] [ Original post ] Liftables bug fixPlayers reported a bug where liftables were falling into the ground and infinitely respawning. This was caused due to my "lift from any side" update. This is now fixed!

Bugs:
Liftables:
- Fixed issue where some colliders had the wrong rotation
Tutorial:
- Fixed an issue where you could get stuck in the puzzle room if you pushed the pipe into the puzzle
Features/QOL changes:
Liftables:
- Liftables can now be picked up from any side! Noticed a lot of players trying to pick up the liftables from the wrong side. The pallets were definitely a main culprit of this. Now they can be picked up from any side, as long as the fork is close enough to the middle of the liftable
Tutorial:
- Updated text for liftables to say "Place Fork beneath center of liftable", some players were having issue picking up liftables
- Updated placement zone room to only require two liftables, going back to a previous room didn't make much sense in the tutorial for some players. I agree, never played a game where you had to go back in a tutorial
- Updated button to close gate if liftable was removed from it. This is the expectation in levels, so it should be the same in the tutorial
Farm:
- Made windmill and big barn transparent, it was obstructing player view
- Moved two of the bales from the field to the main area, moving 6 bales from the field and avoiding the harvesters is quite tedious and repetitive
- Replaced grain in middle of harvester field with a fence. It didn't make much sense for the grain growing to slow you down and this grain to stop you. "The same looking object shouldn't have two different properties"
- Made the top field smaller and added plants to the ground, as it was pretty barren and did not need to be that big
- Made the harvesters smaller, as well as their death zone. Noticed a lot of players were being killed outside of the fench
Levels:
- Reordered the levels so the Trainyard is after the Tutorial. The Farm is a big jump from the Tutorial. I felt like going from the Tutorial to the Trainyard is a much better transition and eases the player into the game

- Fixed a bug where during respawn the collider to make sure nothing is in the way had the wrong orientation
- Fixed a bug where liftables respawning didn't show the countdown anymore if you restarted the counter by interring with the respawn
Trainyard:
- Fixed invisible wall by the train that I accidentally cause haha
Quality of life changes:
Task Completion:
- Added a small delay after you finish the last task so it doesn't look like there are two items if the last task was placing a puzzle piece. ie: haybales

- Flying. Yes flying, there was a sneaky bug that would allow players to fly with their forklift. This is a no fly zone people!

- Now when maxing out a certification, you will get a nice little notification at the bottom of your screen letting you know what certification you just completed
New Logo:
- After a lot of feedback from the community, it was made clear I should not be using an AI generated thumbnail. I reached out to some artists and ultimately ended up commissioning Ahmedhilmi on Fiverr. They did an amazing job and I highly recommend them

I've added checkpoints so you now spawn in the last room you were in. No more respawning at the start of the level after driving in the water haha. Thanks for the feedback!

- Fixed respawn bug staying on screen
Certifications:
- Fixed issue where Demo certification was at 150, even though all certs were not complete
Farm:
- Fixed issue with grain colliders, grain trough was getting stuck
- Fixed bug where trucks were getting loaded, even if players didn't load them

- Players now start in the Tutorial level, made no sense players had to drive to the tutorial
