Community Narrative Initiative #1 - Help Us Write The Paper

Hello Golfers. You may have noticed that we have been a little quiet here for the past month. Paul and Christian have been slaving away on their unique vision for the online multiplayer. I'm happy to report that we have just had our first internal test of the crazy new mode and there will be opportunities for you guys to help us with further testing in the coming weeks so stay tuned. Today I want to talk to you about narrative. One of the best aspects of Vertiginous Golf is the rich world we have developed. While the major story beats are being handled internally, we thought that crowd sourcing the supplementary content from fans would be really rad so today we're throwing out our first community narrative initiative. We're asking fans who wish to participate to write some front page material for the VG newspaper! You can write your articles about anything you think would belong in the crazy, steampunk world of Vertiginous Golf, as long as they are within the following guidelines:

Headlines are no longer than 7 words
Article body is no longer than 150 words
No lewd or offensive material
Optional to include a picture

LEGAL BATTLE BETWEEN INVENTOR & PROPERTY MOGUL

The Supreme Court of Scudborough is to begin its legal proceedings between Edward V Frohlich, the Inventor of the Vertiginous Levitation System and Marcus Frederickson, the billionaire property mogul. Marcus Frederickson claims Edwards levitation system, which is used to levitate plots of land above the Vertiginousphere and sell on to prospective Elites is illegally circumventing Scudborough's "Ground Rent" legislation. Due to Marcus's percentage share in land, this would entitle him to 90% of said Ground Rent. Edward’s defense is based on the fact the land was purchased legitimately and due to the land no longer remaining in its place of origin, it is exempt from being subject to Ground Rent. SEVEN HEADED DOG FOUND ON MOON!

A seven headed dog has allegedly been found on the moon says PESA Scientist. Following the recent attempt to land an automated eye glass on the moon, which was thwarted by a rogue meteor earlier this week, Scientists have discovered imagery captured by the eye glass before it was blinded and slung out of orbit by a large particle of space meat. Scientists conclude that the meteor and the blurry image of what can only be described as a seven headed dog are connected and people should look out for falling meat from space. Buryme Jacket

LOCAL MARKET FOUND TO SELL FAKE VEG

Penckington Market has been found to be selling fake cabbage. If anyone finds their cabbages are fake then the local fake cabbage police have urged the public to come forward and submit their fake cabbages. Do not eat the affected cabbages as they can result in heavier flatulence than usual. Vertiginous Golf is a dystopian steam punk mini golf adventure game set in the skies above an alternate world where life on the ground is enveloped in permanent smog, constant darkness and never-ending rain.

After suffering on the ground under a haze smog and pollution, the people of Scudburough have been split in half by a lottery, with the winners heading up into the clouds to live in a floating city called New Lun-Donne. For those left below, they can get a temporary escape from the gloom through the Verti-Sphere, a device that allows them to rise virtually into the cloudy paradise to play mini golf on challenging obstacle courses floating in the sky. But something is amiss in this nation of two cities. Another voice is trying to break through the propaganda messages of peace and prosperity… the voice of an insurrection.

Chip and putt your way through beautiful golf courses floating far above the smog-covered streets below. Play through the unique story mode courses to uncover the mystery of the Verti-sphere. Enjoy 54 classic holes ranging from simple miniputt to mind-bending courses that will test even the most skilled golfers, as well a driving range and race challenges.

Take on these insane obstacle courses filled with hazards and contraptions. Look through the eyes of your mechanical hummingbird companion to explore and unlock the secrets of the green. Use the jewel encrusted beetle to control your ball once it’s in motion and make good use of your limited rewind power to redeem yourself from a bad shot.

What's better than a leisurely round of golf in the sky? A leisurely round of golf in the sky with up to three friends, of course! All the courses can be enjoyed in multiplayer either locally or online. There are also two more unusual multiplayer modes to enjoy: race each other to the finish on the race tracks or fight over control of the holes in the unique battle golf arenas whilst using a variety of offensive weapons to disrupt your opponents.

A fully featured map editor means you can design your own fiendish courses and share them with the community. Who knows what the mad inventors of you will come up with? For the more aesthetically inclined you can tinker for hours with the look of your clubs, your mechanical hummingbird companion and your avatar in Frolich's Emporium.
