It's been a little bit of time since the last update, however, this is the going to be a bit of a big update. First things first, let's get it out of the way, unfortunately, Ancient has been delayed. The cause of the delay is simple, development isn't moving at the speed that would be liked, and there isn't enough content for release. However, that doesn't mean I can't share some updates. When is Ancient getting delayed to? Currently, the official release date after the delay hasn't been confirmed however, it's being planned sometime around Quarter 1, 2024. Though the specific date is unknown, as it gets closer to a releasable state, a more specific date will be released. What is the current stage of development looking like? Not great. Ancient was, and still is, a very ambitious project. This is a project that just 3 years ago no one could ever make at home by themselves, however, now I am. Of course, this means that it will take a really long time. Between writing the story, making the maps, animating the cutscenes, and everything else being done by me, and me alone with the limited free time I have. What platforms will Ancient support at launch? Originally, with the April 4th release date, it was planned to support Windows, and then support Linux in a later update. However, this delay means that a native Linux build will very likely be coming with release. However, it's not all bad news. There has still been some pretty exciting updates on the state of development. Specifically, the story has finally begun preparations. Not much is done, however, it is beginning to take (a very basic) form. Additionally, construction for the next part of the map is underway. What content is planned for launch? A great question, though keep in mind this section may contain mild spoilers. There aren't any screenshots that I can share right now, though I am excited to have something to share. First, the new environment is an ancient temple environment. Secrets lie deep within. But something else lurks , waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Expect some more teasers coming later as we get closer to release. That's all for now, thanks so much for reading. --MinoDab492, signing off.

Ancient's release is just around the corner! After spending over a year in development, it's finally ready for Early Access release! However, before it releases, there are some things we think would be useful to know. 1. Steam Deck Compatibility Currently, there isn't a plan for Steam Deck compatibility, this is because of the fact that to achieve the high-quality graphics, Ancient makes use of Nanite. This leads to Steam Deck incompatibility, in the result of failing to render things, or rendering at very low framerates. This may be revisited at a future date, though. 2. Controller Compatibility The game is designed to support controller, though currently the main menus do not support controller inputs. Alright, with those two big things out of the way, let's continue. First off, what is the roadmap for the game looking like currently? Currently, it's set to have major updates leading up to 1.0, how many updates, that's beyond me. Each update will add more and more to the game, until it reaches its 1.0 state. This includes each update adding bits and pieces of the campaign's story, as well as missions, dialogue, mechanics, and all of that stuff. Though, what's actually planned for delivery? Great question! Currently the roadmap is as follows, though this is subject to change. [--Campaign, complete with a full story and voice acting--] [--Modding Tools--] That's right! There are plans for modding tools, containing everything that is needed for creating, distributing, loading, and using mods. This gives the community the ability to create basically anything for Ancient, building on top of what I've already built. Alright, that's the good, though there are some caveats that should be mentioned as well. This is an Early Access release, it is not complete, and any plans mentioned above are subject to change. As well, this also contains very little content as of release. Though this will be sorted out in future updates, there also is no timeline of when updates will be releasing in the future. Though, now that that's all out of the way, there's only one thing left to do, explore.
