Buckle up, it's time to hit the road! Today, we're excited to share with you the very first gameplay preview from our upcoming Nebraska DLC for American Truck Simulator. Join us as we drive from the city of Valentine, Nebraska to an Agriculture Facility just below North Platte. |
Known for its scenic beauty, clear lakes, and abundant wildlife, it's easy to see why Arkansas has earned the title of the "Natural State". In our upcoming Arkansas DLC for American Truck Simulator, our team has been hard at work re-creating the various trees, vegetation and more you'll come across on your travels. Let's take a closer look, shall we? |
The intricate network of roads and highways in Nebraska plays a pivotal role in connecting its communities, industries, and travellers alike. Stretching across the expansive plains and rolling landscapes, these thoroughfares serve as vital links for commerce, transportation, and tourism. Today we are happy to share with you a preview into some of the Road Networks you'll find in our upcoming Nebraska DLC for American Truck Simulator. |
Today, we're rolling out something a little different: the Experimental Beta for American Truck Simulator's upcoming 1.50 update. Why call our upcoming beta experimental? We need to manage expectations right from the start. We are starting the beta cycle this time from a rather early stage. The level of polish and stability is not the same as for our usual Open Betas. We believe in transparency with our community, and we also need to gather a lot of feedback early this time, to understand how well the features perform. That's why we're offering this Experimental Beta as a precursor to the Open Beta, giving you a glimpse of what's to come while acknowledging that it's still very much a work in progress.
User Interface Rework
We are introducing substantial UI updates to enhance player interaction and accommodate more features. The redesign adopts a flatter, minimalistic design with tooltips and layered navigation, ensuring easier accessibility. For most UI screens, the visible changes are just an evolution of the previous look, though functionally, a lot of work was invested into making them work more comfortably with a gamepad or a steering wheel, requiring less time reaching for a keyboard. The biggest change is the Home screen redesign, a new Status Bar sitting atop many various UI screens, the Quick Menu shortcuts, new fonts, icons, and much more. The result should be a clearer look on 2K and 4K resolutions, with all the changes contributing to a more streamlined gaming experience. We plan to have a separate, more detailed blog on this topic in the near future, so stay tuned.
California Rework - Phase 3
The eagerly awaited third phase of the California rework is focused on central California. Six cities have undergone a complete rework:San Francisco,Oakland,Stockton,Santa Cruz,Huron, andFresno. We have also added two brand-new cities;San JoseandModesto, which will replace Oakdale in our game. All roads in the area have received a complete overhaul, including major routes such as CA-1, US-101, I-5, CA-99, US-395, and more. The beautifulYosemite National Parkalso underwent significant enhancements as part of this update! You can watch our trailer for this phase of California rework below. [previewyoutube=yffmOK_q6Wo;full][/previewyoutube]
International LT S13 & International LoneStar
The International LT will receive revamped interior and exterior options, and the LoneStar will get a refreshed interior. The International LT's exterior sees significant enhancements with new features, customizable options, and adjustments to existing parts, including the addition of the S13 model with its Integrated Powertrain. Additional accessories such as new chassis fairing extenders, bumper and grille options, FlowBelow fairings, blindspot detectors, and a shorter day cab chassis have been introduced. The interiors of both trucks have also undergone a complete overhaul with new models, updated textures, customizable interior cabinets, and functioning cabin physics, fulfilling a highly requested feature. Stay tuned for more updates as we plan to have a separate blog on this topic in the future.
Options Tooltips
Placing your mouse over each setting option will now display helpful information, including explanations of what the options do. You will now effortlessly grasp the purpose of every adjustable option in the settings, enabling you to easily fine-tune your experience.
Lane Assistant
After implementing various driver assistance features, developing lane assistance was the next step for us. This system is more complicated because it has to work well with different ways people control their vehicles. Making it work well with steering wheels with force feedback was particularly important, even though it was challenging because of possible problems like control-force feedback loops and other details. Also, the lane assistant features different modes, each serving distinct purposes, making it more complicated. Now, truck drivers can enjoy simply turning it on along with adaptive cruise control, letting the truck do more of the driving.
Changelog
Map

So, do enjoy all these new additions, but please remember: It's only an experimental beta, not an open beta yet or even a stable public version, so you may encounter bugs, instability, or crashes. It's completely okay if you want to wait for the open beta or the final release. But if you're interested in helping us get there faster, we'll appreciate all of your feedback on our forum and your bug reports in the dedicated section. Please check our modding wiki to get details pertaining to mods for the game. If you wish to participate in the experimental beta, you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. The way to access it is as follows: Steam client LIBRARY right-click on American Truck Simulator Properties Betas tab public_beta 1.50. No password is required. Sometimes you may need to restart your Steam client to see the correct branch name there. So, to our community, thank you for your ongoing dedication and feedback. Together, let's make the Experimental Beta a valuable stepping stone towards Open Beta and an exceptional 1.50 version. With the arrival of the Kansas DLC for American Truck Simulator on November 30th, the Special Transport DLC will be receiving an update that includes some new routes, missions and the addition of a new feature. Plus, we would also like to share with you a preview of the tolls which you'll encounter this new state, along with a new payment system!
As you browse the job market, you may notice that some of these new contracts require a lot of travelling, even going as far as travelling to another state! This is why we have introduced the ability to take a rest stop and even refill your fuel tanks during longer routes on a Special Transport contract. It ain't easy work moving around these oversized loads, so make sure to take a break when you can! We look forward to seeing how you get on with the new routes and oversized loads!
Turnpike Tolls in Kansas
If you've been trucking in some of our recent expansions, you'll be no stranger to Turnpike Tolls. As an important source of highway funding in many states in the US, these tolls benefit the local economy, support road maintenance and cleanliness of the stretch of the road. However, in Kansas, these will differ a little payment wise from other pre-existing tolls in American Truck Simulator. Rather than a set priced fee, you will now only be charged for the distance you've travelled along the toll road. This means if you only travel a short distance before exiting, you'll be charged a smaller amount versus a driver who travels the entire length of the road. So if you happen to be counting dollars and pennies (like on our Twitch Let's Play! Series), You can always check the set route to see if you can't save yourself a little extra cash on your journey by making a detour onto another route. We hope you enjoy this small, but practical change coming to our upcoming map expansion. If you cannot wait to get trucking, then be sure to add the Kansas DLC to your Steam Wishlist! We appreciate all your support and we look forward to welcoming you across the State border very soon. Until next time, keep on truckin'! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2298430/American_Truck_Simulator__Kansas/ |
We are happy to announce that the 1.49 update for American Truck Simulator has been released and is now available on Steam. This update contains bug fixes, changes and new content, which are featured below, so we recommend having a read!
With the improved damage system comes enhanced control over vehicle maintenance. You can now make informed choices about which parts to repair or replace based on your judgment. Alternatively, you have the option to seek professional advice for the best repair strategy for your truck or trailer. Happy (used) trucking!
Mountains Rework - Utah DLC
Four years ago, the Utah DLC was released for American Truck Simulator. Back then, we were still learning a lot about our tools and techniques, especially when it came to the creation of mountains. Today, we are pleased to be at a level where we have improved on creating mountains in-game, especially when it comes to scale and details. Today, we're happy to release with the 1.49 update a small rework of a number of mountains located in Salt Lake City, Utah. We'd like to thank those from our community who passed on their feedback in regards to the representation of the mountains found in this beautiful state. You'll find that in most cases, the mountains have been reworked entirely from scratch, replacing the older models that once stood there. We really hope that you see a difference from this rework! We hope to continue to rework certain aspects of our DLCs as our tools and options continue to develop over time. Be sure to share with us your trucking adventures through Utah in 1.49 on our social media channels, we'd love to see them!
Keybind Modifiers
Another highly requested feature coming with 1.49 is the introduction of Keybind Modifiers! When previously creating a new bind in the menu, you could only assign a single key for an action. With the 1.49 update, you will now have the option to use a combination of the key and modifiers to bind an action. For example, you can now assign Shift + L to turn your lights if you so wish! This opens up a whole new world of key bind combinations for you to use, allowing for more binding options, but that's not all! You will also now have the options to bind short press and long press key. Holding the key down will be recognised as a long press, and pressing a button as normal will be seen as a short press. Keyboards aren't the only peripherals taking advantage of this change. Controllers will also be able use this new feature!
Special Transport DLC Update
With the arrival of the Kansas DLC for American Truck Simulator on November 30th, we have taken the opportunity to bring an exciting update to the Special Transport DLC. Today we are happy to announce the arrival of 2 new oversized cargoes! Introducing the new Wind Blade & Articulated Hauler cargoes, as part of the 1.49 update! Think you got what it takes to haul these new oversized loads? You can find these new cargo routes across some of the already existing routes in various DLCs and base game. We've also introduced two completely new routes, both which start from Pueblo in Colorado, where wind blades are often found being transported in the real world! However, that's not all! The Kansas DLC will also receive several new routes of its own when it is released. You can read more about these routes, plus the addition of a new Special Transport feature for long haul routes at our recent blog post. Check it out here!
Automatic Headlights
Another new feature which we are happy to introduce to this update is the option of Automatic Headlights. It is a relatively straightforward feature, that turns on your headlights when the ambient light around the truck falls bellow a certain threshold. If the option is toggled, your light switch position for parking lights is replaced by automatic lights, so you can still turn your lights off or force your headlights on with the other switch positions. We have also introduced the addition of Automatic High Beams. This feature will temporally disable your high beams when there is a vehicle in front of you (both in your lane or oncoming) and turns them back on when the vehicle is far enough away. These automatic high beams are enabled if you flip the high beam switch and when either your automatic headlights are turned on, or you turned your headlights on manually (in case of automatic headlights option toggled off, high beams only work when headlights are manually enabled). We hope you enjoy this simple, yet useful feature for when you are travelling on the road!
Changelog
Map

They say everything is bigger in Texas, including the updates! In our upcoming 1.48 update for American Truck Simulator, our talented team has revisited the state to bring an update that fits the boot; including roads, landmarks, depots, and more. Let's dive into what our team has been working on. |
The California Rework project is a challenging task that we have been working on for quite a while, and despite the hard work and dedication that is required, we havent had the opportunity to mention the unsung heroes that are part of the dedicated team. |
Some of you may have noticed the appearance of actual, real recruitment campaign assets in American Truck Simulator from Schneider National, one of the largest logistics companies in the United States, displayed on in-game billboards. Even though weve previously used the in-game billboards to showcase a variety of exciting updates such as the arrival of new Kenworth trucks and promotions for our WoTr event, this new addition is now in the try-out phase and we believe it holds promise in offering something valuable to our games as well as the automotive industry. |
Exciting times are ahead for all of us here at SCS, as we're forging onward with a thrilling new endeavor in partnership with our friends at Western Star. We don't want to spill the beans just yet, but we've got a little sneak peek ready for you. The image below is just a glimpse into what we've been quietly cooking up. All we can say for now is - you might want to brace yourselves for an elevated heavy hauling experience that'll take your trucking adventures to uncharted territories. |
From the meandering currents of its rivers to the tranquil shores of its lakes, Oklahoma is home to a variety of different water bodies large and small. Long before roads existed, both lakes and rivers were used as a way to navigate across America. Today, they have become popular attraction for both locals and visitors to enjoy recreational activities and admire their natural beauty. |

We know that many of you are very excited about the changes in the upcoming phase 3 of our ongoing California Rework project for American Truck Simulator, and we are glad to share some more information about it with you today. Get ready to hit the road to Santa Cruz, which will be completely revamped from the ground up! |
There's no better feeling than hitting the road and traveling to a U.S. State you've never been to; but before you get going, there are a few rules you need to follow. Each state has its own regulations and laws for truck drivers and Oklahoma is no exception. |
Since you loved our latest Kansas DLC blog post in which we played the "Guess Where We Are" mini-game, we have decided to reach out to our map designers for even more screenshots and they were kind enough to provide us with several more locations. So, here goes round two - can you guess the places? |
Back in January, we posted a blog sharing some details on some of the Industries that will be featured in our upcoming Oklahoma DLC for American Truck Simulator. Since then, our team has completed a considerable amount of work on the depots and placed them into the world, which we are happy to share with you today! |
A couple of months ago we officially announced phase 3 of our ongoing California Rework project and we are really excited to bring you some more news today. Focused mainly on the eastern part of the state, check out the screenshots and information below on what changes you can experience once this phase will be fully ready for you to get your hands on it. |
Its time to test your knowledge and attention to detail in another edition of "Guess Where We Are"! Today, well share with you some screenshots from the upcoming Kansas DLC for American Truck Simulator. Will you step up to the challenge and correctly identify these locations? |
Getting from point A to point B, isn't as simple as it once was. Road networks have changed drastically over the past few decades with the ever increasing demand for more capacity and routes for the growing population. Evidence of this can be found across the highways of the USA, as well as in our upcoming Oklahoma DLC for American Truck Simulator. |
Steampunk is a fantasy genre that's designed around the style of the industrial era mashed up against futuristic technology. Some of our earliest adopters of American Truck Simulator may already be familiar with this theme, as they were rewarded with the exclusive Steampunk Paint Jobs Pack during a limited time period. |
We are happy to announce that the 1.47 update for American Truck Simulator has been released and is now available on Steam. This update features bug fixes, changes and new content, which are featured below, so we recommend taking a read!
We look forward to seeing you deliver with these new Ownable Gas Cisterns and how you will customize them. Be sure to share your first ride with them on our social media channels.
World Ambient Sounds
As we continue to make sounds more immersive across our truck sim world, one big change we have made for this update is introducing sound scatter technology through FMOD for our virtual environment. So what does this mean for players? It means you'll now notice a variety of SFX coming from different directions and distances, on top of our base 5.1 sound layer, which has an existing basic environmental loop for a specific place. For example, you may be sitting at a rest area in the quiet Texan plains, hearing the chirping of crickets, but you'll hear them at various distances, some further away, some closer! [previewyoutube=ectARel8E6E;full][/previewyoutube] Another change we are introducing is a directional filter for trucks. Where applicable, we have included sound engine equalization in the sound system, which works according to your current camera view. For example, if you are using a camera behind the truck, you will hear a change in sound according to that view. The effect is most audible when you are able to watch your truck drive past while the camera remains stationary. You can read more in detail about this change to our world ambient sounds and more at our previous blogpost on the subject.
Adaptive Cruise Control & Emergency Braking System
Released originally as a hidden experimental feature back in 1.44, we are glad to be able to bring this highly requested addition to the 1.47 update. Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts the distance and speed from the vehicle in front when in cruise control mode. This is especially handy when encountering a busy highway, where you may find traffic often merging into a gap in front of you, or in situations where traffic speed is constantly changing. Coupled with ACC is the Emergency Braking System, which activates your brakes whenever a collision is imminent with the vehicle in front, to avoid or minimize damage. This technology in the real world has saved countless lives and is found in most modern trucks. These features have been in the works for a while and thanks to your feedback, we have made quite a few changes internally. We plan to continue to fine-tune this feature going into the future.
Custom City Intros (Utah & Idaho)
Carrying on from our previous update which introduced custom city intros for Colorado & Wyoming, we have now expanded these cutscenes to the Utah and Idaho DLC's for American Truck Simulator! [previewyoutube=z_TlpMImLZw;full][/previewyoutube] These special cutscenes appear when a player selects a starting city when creating a new profile. We hope that new players (or those restarting a new profile) will enjoy these new additions, showcasing the area where you have chosen to begin!
Uneven Surface Simulation
We're excited to introduce Uneven Surface Simulation into 1.47! These small bumps are procedurally generated to give roads and other terrains an imperfect feel to them. While they may not be visible to the driver, you will be able to feel these subtle bumps and in some cases hear them affect your vehicle whilst driving. We look forward to working on expanding this feature in the future, but for the time being, let us know your thoughts about it!
Career History UI Redesign
This update also includes a refresh for the Career History UI! For those who are unfamiliar with this feature, you can access it via the main menu of American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2. It displays a graph of your experience progress and some statistics. This new redesign will now feature a much more detailed look into your statistics and previous deliveries. The UI now shows 4 sections which are: Deliveries, Exploration, Driver Experience and Penalties. Each of these sections displays different statistics that give you a more in-depth review of your journey as a truck driver so far including total deliveries, your past delivery ratings, how many of your deliveries were on time, map exploration, companies visited, truck data and discoveries. We've also included a section that'll show what penalties you have received over the last 2 weeks of your career. We felt that little things such as hitting traffic signs or falling asleep at the wheel don't need to be on your permanent record. We've also redesigned your delivery log which shows clearly your previous jobs, your cargo, what day you made the delivery on, income, XP, time spent etc. We understand that these statistics are important for drivers to look back on, especially if you are part of a VTC where you may need to log your previous jobs for driver activity. We really hope you like this redesign, and we hope we can expand on it in the future.
In-Game Update Log
We've now added a new UI feature to both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 which will show users the changelog of a major update or showcase the featured of a DLC release. This will appear in the form of a pop-up either when you launch the game after an update or whilst in-game in the main menu if an update was made during your time on the road. Not only that, but you can also access a history of previous changelogs, in-case you missed out on several, and find all our official social media links. We hope this helps you stays informed no matter where you are on the latest changes and updates made to our titles.
Economy Reset Teleport
Whenever the player's economy is reset during a game load, it was the norm for you to be teleported to your HQ garage. Today we are happy to make a small change that will allow you a free quick travel to any service station of your choice after a game change was detected. We hope this feature helps continue your journey quickly and easily!
Changelog

Map
It's time for Part 2 of showcasing some of the Cities & Settlements that will be featured in our upcoming Oklahoma DLC for American Truck Simulator. Previously, we highlighted the cities of Guymon, Enid, Lawton and Idabel. Today we are happy to share with you 4 more cities and several settlements. |
In addition to the new content that is coming to American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the 1.47 update, we will also be introducing two brand new special transport routes - one for each game. There is an interesting backstory behind the creation of these new routes and we are excited to tell you all about it today. |
As you might remember, recently we announced Kansas DLC for American Truck Simulator. Before we fully dive in with the classic news from the development, we have decided to sit down with some of the developers and create a blog article that will let you know a little bit about some of the SCS members themselves, but also their thoughts on this DLC. Sit back, relax, and check out what Patrik, Seki, Martin, Ilona, and Anton had to say about who they are and what working on the Sunflower State means for them. |
It's been a while since we last spoke about the California Rework project; in which 2 phases were already completed and released as free update in American Truck Simulator. Today, we are excited to share with you some information on Phase 3, the team working on it and some teasers on what will be included this free update. |
Today, we are happy to share with you that the 1.47 Open Beta branch for American Truck Simulator is now available to try and test out. If you plan on participating in this Open Beta, we ask that you please help us by reporting any bugs you may encounter in the appropriate section(s) of our official forums.
For example, you may be sitting at a rest area in the quiet Texas plains, hearing the chirping of crickets, but you'll hear them at various distances, some further away, some closer! [previewyoutube=ectARel8E6E;full][/previewyoutube] Another change we are introducing is a direction filter for trucks.
These features have been in the works for a while, but it is still work in progress and we look forward to seeing how they perform during 1.47 Open Beta. Please share with us your feedback and comments on our official forums.
Let us know your thoughts and any feedback you may have at our official forums.
Random Road Bumps
We're excited to introduce Random Road Bumps into 1.47! These small bumps are procedurally generated to give the roads an imperfect feel to them. While they may not be visible to the driver, you will be able to feel these subtle bumps and in some cases hear them affect your vehicle whilst driving. We look forward to working on expanding this feature in the future, but for the time being, let us know your thoughts about it! Any comments or feedback can be made over on our official forums. So enjoy all the new additions, but please remember: It's only an open beta, not a stable public version - so you may encounter bugs, instability, or crashes. It's completely okay if you want to wait for the final release. But if you're interested in helping us to get there faster, we'll appreciate all of your feedback on our forum and your bug reports in this section. Please check our modding wiki to get details pertaining to mods for the game. If you wish to participate in the open beta, you can find this version in the public_beta branch on Steam. The way to access it is as follows: Steam client LIBRARY right-click on American Truck Simulator Properties Betas tab public_beta 1.47. No password required. Sometimes you have to restart your Steam client to see the correct branch name there. |
As you already may have guessed from our previous blog articles, Oklahoma is a major agricultural state in the United States. Known as the "breadbasket of America," the Sooner State is a top producer of a variety of crops and livestock, contributing significantly to the state's economy and the nation's food supply. |
Since 1923, The Kenworth Truck Company has been manufacturing trucks, the first of which was built in Renton, Seattle. Today, Kenworth has become one of the leading manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks in North America, and this year, they are celebrating their 100-year anniversary!
But that isn't all. Whilst working on this upcoming addition, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give one of our first licensed vehicles in American Truck Simulator a little bit of love in the form of a remodel. We'd like to express our gratitude to PACCAR and Kenworth for their continuous support and partnership since the launch of ATS back in 2016. We look forward to what the road brings for both of us ahead! So what does this remodel include? As we teased during our Christmas live stream, a special project has been in the works for the Kenworth W900; Which includes new options, parts and accessories and more! We really wanted to bring this vehicle up to our current quality standards with this project. Starting with cabins, we've added the option to upgrade to the 86" studio sleeper, the largest option yet! All our sleeper options now also include detachable roof and side deflectors. There is also a new customisation point for the studio sleeper side badge. We have also redesigned and added several new chassis options too. There are now 3 chassis sizes, short for the daycab, midsized for the sleeper 72" and long for the studio sleeper 86". Every size comes with 5 versions (6x2, 8x4 liftable, 6x4, 8x4 liftable and 8x6). Every model now reflects if the axle is liftable or drivable & comes with lots of little details including warning stickers and cables. On top of all that, the fuel tanks are now fully separated and updated to their newer versions which include DEF tanks. This means you will now be able to choose your tank size independently. We have also added an array of accessories including several different doorsteps and door handles, handrails and hood logos. The cabin and interior were also completely remodelled with great attention to detail, including the colour pallete! This update will offer three cabin trim options, Splendor Slate Gray, Diamond Slate Gray and Diamond Black. There is also a new interior design with a bench for the 86" studio sleeper. Additionally, the front seats now offer the option of being trimmed in a different material from the rest of the cabin; which come in leather and cloth options. Dashboard trims are also available in wood or black plastic. Along with all these updates, changes & more, the W900 remodel also includes:
As you can imagine, this was quite an extensive amount of work for our team, who worked hard to complete such a big project in-time. We hope that you enjoy the vast number of updates and love that have been put into this update; which did not come without its challenges. Once you hit the road in your Kenworth W900, we'd love to hear about it! Share your screenshots, videos and more with us and Kenworth trucks using the hashtag #Kenworth100ATS. Don't forget to tag us both as we would love to see them. Happy Truckin' and Happy 100 years Kenworth Trucks! |
A truckers journey consists of more than complex highways or wonderful nature, which is why theres always the need to include numerous detailed cities and settlements in every additional expansion of American Truck Simulator to perfectly capture the whole "picture" of the local land. The upcoming Oklahoma DLC will be no exception, so today we will show you four of the cities that are arriving in the game with the Sooner State. |
With the intention of celebrating the timeless tradition of Valentines day, exactly two weeks ago we introduced a brand-new thematic World of Trucks event, in which we asked the players to deliver special Valentine Presents cargo across all the trucking territories. And now, since the event was successfully concluded on Sunday the 19th, we'd like to thank and congratulate everyone for taking part and offer you some final thoughts and impressions. |
As you might remember, last year, a small team from SCS Software traveled to the USA. However, visiting expos and researching areas were not the only tasks on our agenda. Members from our sound team also traveled along to record a number of new environmental and ambient sounds for the world of American Truck Simulator. Today we wanted to share with you a glimpse into the development of some of those sounds that will be coming in the next 1.47 update! |
With the road network of American Truck Simulator growing larger and larger every year, the need for rest breaks as you travel across the mighty USA becomes a regular occurrence. Whilst some might like to find a small layby or other area to stop in, most players have found that Truck Stops are there go to when on a long haul! |
Join us today as we celebrate our latest World of Trucks event - Sweet Valentine! |
In December, we shared a teaser, showing off some early previews of Ownable Gas Cisterns for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. How time flies! The year 2022 is behind us and, as always, we would like to take a brief look back at everything that we went through over the last twelve months. |
Happy New Year! We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season so far and that 2023 brings happiness, peace, and health to you all. This may sound strange to some and perhaps familiar to others, but we believe this year is a Sunflower year! |
How about a little challenge for the Holiday season? Recently, we announced that Oklahoma is the next State we are working on for American Truck Simulator, and today we are excited to share with you some screenshots from this work in progress project. Do you think you can correctly guess where in Oklahoma these pictures were taken from? |
We know you love sneak peeks when it comes to real-life brands and their facilities. Today, we have good information for you, as some members of the SCS team recently traveled across the pond to spend some quality time with the kind people of PACCAR, the parent company of Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motors Company. |

Today we are excited to share that a much-requested addition has arrived and that is the option to host a dedicated server!
We look forward to seeing how you get creative with your dedicated servers and wish you many miles of happy trucking together. However, please keep in mind that this is the first iteration and that there may be a few bugs or things that need tweaking. We also plan to bring you more extensive tools and moderation features in future updates. However, for now, all the features of a standard dedicated server should be available. If you have any feedback, we'd love to hear from you on our official forums. |
The Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator was released about two weeks ago and ever since then, we have been swamped with monitoring an incredible amount of feedback. One dry sunny day, an object appears on the horizon. Even from the edge of town, it remains blurred, but slowly and surely, it draws nearer. You hear the distant humming of an engine, which for some reason slowly builds tension in the air as it closes in. The approaching drivers hand hovers over the steering wheel for a second before taking the last turn into the main street, providing a clear view for all. You look on, riveted to your spot, and the truck you see is decked out in a paint job that youve never seen before. |
We were holding back a bit on using the phrase "everything is bigger in Texas" on our blog in the last couple of months but in this article, it seems impossible to just go ahead without bringing the famous quote up. As you will see, even the Special Transport missions will have to reflect this legendary saying!
Dont forget, Texas is releasing next week on the 15th of November. Make sure to check out our release date announcement blog post which features an amazing video trailer that will surely hype you up for a journey across The Lone Star State. And, if by any chance you still need to add the DLC to your Steam Wishlist, visit the Steam page and do so now, as you will receive a notification once the expansion becomes available! |
We are happy to announce that the 1.46 update for American Truck Simulator has been released and is now available on Steam. This update features bug fixes, changes and new content, which are featured below, so we recommend taking a read!
We are excited to see you hauling these new chemical trailers in your company and how you will customize them!
US-20
We are happy to share that the US-20, located between Idaho and Montana will be arriving as a free update for owners of the DLCs. This highway has been highly requested by you, our #BestCommunityEver, since Montana's release. This important connection allows drivers to drive between Idaho Falls, ID, and the settlement of West Yellowstone in Montana. West Yellowstone is also home to a tourist center, located just outside the west gate to the Yellowstone Natl. Park. This also gives players traveling from Idaho state an option to travel to the Yellowstone National Park as well as connect with US-191 which is a popular trucking route in the area. We hope you enjoy exploring this new road along with the beautiful views that come along with it. And who knows, maybe you will find a new achievement over there as well.
Custom City Intros
Recently, we introduced a new experimental feature in ETS2 and ATS - the custom city introductions. Thanks to the positive feedback that we have seen from the community, we are glad to let you know that we have expanded this feature! These special cutscenes appear when a player selects a starting city when creating a new profile and, as you may know, they are currently available only for the cities of Austria and the city of Hanover in Euro Truck Simulator 2. However, this feature can now be found in the world of American Truck Simulator also! New players will have the opportunity to watch one of these awesome cutscenes when selecting their first city that has a garage in Colorado and Wyoming map expansions. So, what do you think? Should we keep working on the custom city introductions? If so, let us know!
Idaho Viewpoints Redesign
We went back and updated the viewpoints of Idaho DLC to better reflect our current standard of their length, pace and camera movement. They are now generally more polished and on par in terms of quality with their more modern siblings from newer map expansions.
Driveshaft Torque
We are always doing our best to make the trucking experience within our games as realistic as possible, and that is exactly the reason why this new addition, which can be turned on in the settings, is arriving into the world of ATS. This feature simulates the spinning of the chassis during acceleration, which results in a slight lift of the front left wheel. This effect is more visible on American trucks due to them being longer.
Changelog

Map
This also gives players traveling from Idaho state an option to travel to the Yellowstone National Park as well as connect with US-191 which is a popular trucking route in the area. We hope you enjoy exploring this new road along with the beautiful views that come along with it. And who knows, maybe you will find a new achievement over there as well. Custom City Intros Recently, we introduced a new experimental feature in ETS2 and ATS - the custom city introductions. Thanks to the positive feedback that we have seen from the community, we are glad to let you know that we will further expand this feature in the upcoming 1.46 update! These special cutscenes appear when a player selects a starting city when creating a new profile and, as you may know, they are currently available only for the cities of Austria and the city of Hanover in Euro Truck Simulator 2. In the 1.46 update, however, this feature can now be found in the world of American Truck Simulator also! New players will have the opportunity to watch one of these awesome cutscenes when selecting their first city that has a garage in Colorado and Wyoming map expansions. So, what do you think? Should we keep working on the custom city introductions? If so, let us know! Idaho Viewpoints Redesign We went back and updated the viewpoints of Idaho DLC to better reflect our current standard of their length, pace and camera movement. They are now generally more polished and on par in terms of quality with their more modern siblings from newer map expansions. Driveshaft Torque We are always doing our best to make the trucking experience within our games as realistic as possible, and that is exactly the reason why this new addition, which can be turned on in the settings, is arriving into the world of ATS. This feature simulates the spinning of the chassis during acceleration, which results in a slight lift of the front left wheel. This effect is more visible on American trucks due to them being longer. Changelog Map

Texas has a rich history when it comes to the oil and chemical industry. From the first noted discovery of oil in 1894 to having more than one-fourth of the nation's 100 largest oil fields, Texas has become a major player in the industry. In our upcoming Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator, players can deliver to and from oil and chemical industries found across the state. |
When working on an upcoming DLC, we are always trying to provide the most accurate interpretation of the local road network, and as much as it wouldve been interesting to only have straight roads in the real world, the intersections and bridges are a necessity that every trucker needs to take into consideration. Lets take a look at some of these road areas that you will be able to drive through in the Texas map expansion for ATS. |
Recently, we introduced a new experimental feature for ETS2 and ATS - custom city introductions. Thanks to the positive feedback that we have seen from the community, we are glad to let you know that we will further expand this feature in the upcoming 1.46 update! |
About two months ago, while talking about the Yellowstone National Park update in Montana DLC, we teased you with the possibility of having this entire area fully recreated within American Truck Simulator. In the 1.46 update, a small addition will achieve just that. |
In August, we revealed that the Western Star 57X would be arriving on the virtual roads of American Truck Simulator along side its real world premiere. Since then, we have been overwhelmed with positive comments, pictures and comments from your first journey with the 57X.
We hope that you continue to enjoy every journey with the brand new Western Star 57X on the roads of ATS. We look forward to seeing even more screenshots & videos from you on our social media pages, so continue to share them with us! Until next time, keep on truckin'. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2093200/American_Truck_Simulator__Western_Star_57X/ Western Star is a trademark of Daimler Trucks North America LLC and is used under license to SCS Software s.r.o. |
You might remember the blog article from a while ago that was the first part of the cities and settlements coming in the Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator. Today, we are back with even more areas that are now ready to be presented to you. Saddle up and join us for another ride across the Lone Star State. |
Being rich in size and resources, Texas is constantly expanding its roads and cities. This means that construction work plays a prominent role all over the state and it is something we have to properly interpret in American Truck Simulator and the upcoming Texas DLC. |
Recently, we were honoured to have the opportunity to visit Volvo Trucks North America at one of their facilities located in the state of Virginia. The main reason behind this visit was to strengthen our partner relationship and meet with representatives of the company; however, this was not all we got up to! |
After the recent release of Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator, we have been flooded with various feedback coming from all sides and lurking behind every corner. We love seeing all the screenshots and videos on various social media, experiences of the content creators, reviews, and both positive opinions and constructive criticism. |
The relationship between trucks and agriculture is something that some people might find trivial, yet its important to realize how crucial this cooperation actually is. Gone are now the days of small-scale farming in the backyards since the modern dedicated lands are growing in size rapidly. And what better place to look at as an example of this development than the state of Texas, which has 127 million acres of agricultural land? |
Dear #BestCommunityEver, the day is finally here! We are excited to let you know that the final preparations to release the Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator are quickly approaching the finish line.
We will also have a World of Trucks event for those who will set out on a journey across The Treasure State, with unique rewards to be earned once you complete delivery to or from 12 different Montana cities and drive a certain amount of miles. You can learn more about the rules in yesterdays blog post and take part in #CruisingMontana at WorldofTrucks.com, where you can register an account for free. We cant wait to see your photos and clips across our Social Media channels using the hashtag (feel free to tag our official accounts - Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, )! The event will be concluded on Sunday the 25th of September at 23:59 UTC. Since we dont want anyone to feel pressure to rush through the DLC as fast as possible, we hope this time frame will give everyone enough freedom to drive through this wonderful state at their own pace and still get rewarded for being an early adopter of the map expansion. Oh, and we also have one more special reward for you. If you will take any External Contract or External Market job to or from the city of Kalispell, you will earn a Mountain Goat plush toy as a cabin accessory! While not listed as a state symbol, these "climbers" are quite often seen in the elevated rocky areas above the roads and we figured since Kalispell is the closest to the mountains you might feel like taking of these interesting fellas on a trip all around the US in your mighty truck. We would also like to invite you to a special Montana release live stream on our official Twitch channel starting at 17:00 CEST. Don't miss out on this broadcast as we talk with Davido (DLC Lead) PLUS a special guest appearance from Pavel ebor CEO of SCS Software! We will be answering questions from the community, talking in-depth about the DLC, giving away free Montana Steam keys and of course, releasing the highly anticipated map expansion LIVE on stream! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1811080/American_Truck_Simulator__Montana/ We hope youll enjoy exploring what Montana has to offer! We will see you on the roads! |

Today, we are excited to reveal a secret project that we've been working on very closely with Western Star. Shortly after its real-world premiere, we are very excited to announce the arrival of the Western Star 57X, which is now available at your nearest Western Star Trucks dealership in American Truck Simulator! |
Did you know that one of the nicknames for Montana is "Big Sky Country"? While the state has earned this name for the seemingly infinite and unobstructed local skyline, we also have some BIG news for you today, which might just turn things upside down for a moment while driving through the roads of this upcoming DLC. |
We are happy to share with you that the 1.45 update has now been released for American Truck Simulator. This update features quite a few changes, so we recommend reading through them all! |
With the final touches and tests being made to the Montana DLC, we are excited to announce a release date for this highly anticipated addition to American Truck Simulator. |
They say that picture is worth a thousand words, but we feel putting frames together and creating a first gameplay video of an upcoming map expansion is something that is simply invaluable. Especially since, as some of you may have already noticed, we are slowly approaching the finish line with the development of this project. |
While trucking and exploring the vast state of Texas in the upcoming DLC for American Truck Simulator, you might end up picking up a job or two from a couple of large car manufacturing plants. Today we will take a closer look at these two car factories and their impact on the local economy and industry. |
You might be wondering what could possibly be so special about this person in Montana named Helena that we have decided to write a blog article about them? The thing is, we are actually going to present to you the capital of the Treasure State, which, as the main representative among other cities, has quite a rich history and strong economy that is definitely worth looking into. |
During the process of describing every detail of an upcoming map expansion for our games, at some point, we have to take a break from topics of beautiful nature and local industry and take a look at some typical trucking facilities. It is time to (masterfully) park your mighty truck, turn off the engine for a while, and explore the Rest Stops that are coming with the Texas DLC for American Truck Simulator! |
Yesterday we released the 1.45 Open Beta for American Truck Simulator and you have probably noticed that among numerous other changes, there is a massive and long-awaited addition coming to the selection of purchasable trailers - ownable cisterns! Lets take a more detailed look at this trailer type, which will also be arriving in the 1.45 update for ETS2 as well.
In regards to silos, in ATS and ETS2 you will be able to deliver a number of bulk materials with them, for example, sand, concrete, or grain. ATS will have 5 connection types (Single, Double, B-double, Rocky mountain double, turnpike double) and a single body type (Classic), while ETS2 will include a selection of 4 connection types (Single, Double, B-double, HCT) and a single body type (Default). The combined list of customizations:
We are incredibly excited to see you hauling these new cistern trailers in your company and how you will customize them! Be sure to share with us your photos of your newly owned trailers on our Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, , Instagram) once you will get your hands on them after the 1.45 update arrives. Also, if you want to stay in touch with all the upcoming changes make sure to subscribe to our newsletter and you will never miss anything important! |

When you get your hands on the wheel in American Truck Simulator, after hours and hours of driving on the roads it can be easy to sometimes forget that cargo and materials can be transported by other means as well. In Texas DLC, you will have the chance to visit Intermodal Terminals, which are special areas where the so-called transport modes meet. |
Tucked away in the heart of the northern Rocky Mountains is the city of Missoula, Montana. A laid-back Western town, which began life as a trading post. Today, we are excited to share with you more about this city which will be featured in our Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator! |
Among other industries featured in the Montana DLC, there is only one with state-defining historical importance. So, without further ado, let's dig into what the Mining Industry will have to offer in the upcoming map expansion. |
Despite the fact that our feature-packed 1.44 update was released just weeks ago for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, our teams are already working hard to create new content for the 1.45 update for American Truck Simulator, some of which we are thrilled to share with you today! |
What if we told you there is a massive structure type in The Lone Star State with a fairly underrated meaning and purpose that might just go over your head (literally) from time to time? Today, we will draw attention to the local Water Tanks featured in Texas DLC, so you will always remember to look upwards when passing them by on your trucking journey throughout this wonderful state. |
Imagine a world in which you are driving through a vast and colorful nature of a state, you look out of the window, and you see only fields and forests. While it depends on the situation, in general, this sounds pretty dull, right? Thankfully, the wonderful Montana DLC and its environment will offer plenty of variety due to the water bodies, such as rivers, lakes, and dams. |
There were many theories circling around about this potential project for quite a while and today we are truly excited to share the great news with our #BestCommunityEver. We can now officially announce that we have teamed up with Lode King / Prestige in order to bring their amazing trailers to American Truck Simulator! |
Situated at the edge of the U.S.-Mexico border, the West Texas town of El Paso is home to a range of cultures and historical sites unique to the Lone Star State. An average of 320 days of sunshine has earned it the nickname Sun City, so youre practically guaranteed to spend your visit enjoying the outdoors. |
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, is the historic mining city of Butte. Previously nicknamed as 'The Richest Hill on Earth', this city once was thriving with industrial activity in the 1800's because of its abundance of mineral wealth. |
Due to the sheer size of Texas DLC, driving through the eastern and western parts might sometimes feel like two different sides of one coin. The various biomes always pave the way for specific industries, and there is one extremely important focused mainly on the east. Lets take a look at the local logging industry and everything that it will have to offer! |
We are happy to share with you that the 1.44 update has now been released for American Truck Simulator. This update is packed with new features and changes, so we recommend reading through them all.
This should help drivers when it comes to customisation if they wish to keep it within the manufacturers customisation options, or tune their truck further with aftermarket parts. We hope you enjoy this small yet helpful feature!
Unmarked Roads Exploration
With the 1.44 update, we are bringing into ATS and ETS2 a new feature; once you drive onto an unmarked road, you will be notified about having done so with a message in the route advisor, and the explored road will appear on the map as an orange dashed line, with any unexplored part ahead of you shown in grey. On one hand, this will ensure that you will immediately be aware of the fact that you have found something interesting, and on the other hand, if you ever decide to re-visit a hidden zone you will know where to go. Map explorers, do not panic! These unmarked roads do not contribute to your map discovery percentage, but they do add a nice addition to your GPS if you do come across them. You can read more about this new feature here.
Force Feedback Upgrade
This update also includes a few new upgrades to the force feedback experience when playing ATS or ETS2. These changes have been made to represent a more realistic driving experience, which includes:
Since self centering and internal friction were updated, we highly recommend that you reset the FFB settings to their defaults again.
Smart Sequential Shifting
Smart Sequential Shiftingis now available to truckers, if they wish to enable it via the options. So what does it do? In simple terms, when you shift up or down sequentially, it will automatically shift by more gears at once based on the current torque or speed. For this to work, drivers will still need to trigger the shifting process, but once working, should require less input from the driver.
Interior Camera Horizontal Lock
This new option allows truckers driving in the first person view (in the cabin) to lock the camera view to the horizon, so that it moves more independently from the position of the cabin. With the introduction of this new feature, players can find a slider in the options that defines the locking factor; with the slider being to the left disabling the locking and to the right, being the strongest locking option.
Adjustable Suspension Height
Sometimes, when you are driving a big rig, trailer pick ups can be a bit tricky. Adjustable suspension height should help drivers eliminate the problem of hooking upto sometimes problematic trailers or in difficult pick up/delivery area. Drivers now can lower the suspension of their truck to get the correct height for hooking up their trailer, without damaging it. Players will be able to find the inputs for this new adjustable suspension in the options. Its inputs are front up/down and rear up/down. We have also included a new UI prompt which appears when the drivers are having trouble hooking up their trailers after a few attempts. We hope this makes picking up deliveries of any size easier in the future!
Ownable Drop Deck Trailers
In this update, we are happy to introduce abrand new ownable trailer type as well - the drop deck trailer! What makes this trailer special is the fact that it has a lower center of gravity, and it combines the advantages of flatbed and lowboy, which results in a flat surface and a high weight-bearing capacity. It is perfect for hauling items and materials such as aircraft engines, backhoe loaders, forklifts and so much more. Also, because drop decks are low, we had to design new small tires, rims, nuts, and hubs, specifically for this trailer type. In addition to having 3 customizable body types (wood floor, aluminum floor, sliding tarp) and 2 different chassis lengths (48ft or 53ft) with a choice of two, three, or four axles, here is a detailed list of everything you will be able to customize:
We hope you enjoy trucking with this sturdy, reliable, and practical trailer type in the 1.44 update.
Cascadia MY2022 Interior Options
Among other changes arriving in American Truck Simulator in the 1.44 update, there will also be a rather small addition, that is technically actually bigger than it might seem. We are excited to let you know that we are bringing new interior options for Freightliner Cascadia trucks! In total, there will be 3 new interior trims added for the Freightliner Cascadia in order to line-up with what they are now offering in real-life. The all-new trim designs will be available in all 4 cabin types. But we have also taken a step further with the 72" cabin versions because these trims will include a table with seats in the back as well! We hope you enjoy trucking with these new interior options for the Cascadia. You can read more about the arrival of these new customizations at a previous dedicated blogpost here.
New Special Transport Routes
From oversized cargo to challenging routes, the Special Transport DLC offers players a unique trucking experience; and today we are happy to share that 8 new routes will be arriving to the roads American Truck Simulator in this update. Much like our previous addition of new Special Transport routes to Euro Truck Simulator 2, our team wanted to bring new additional content for our drivers in ATS too! With every new map expansion, we are edging closer to realizing complete production chains in the games economy. While we are not quite there yet, but important pieces fall into place bit by bit. In the upcoming Montana DLC for ATS, apart from being able to admire the wonderful local scenery, you will also be able to haul to and from several key points that are part of the forestry process! |
We have already shown you several interesting locations on our blog from the upcoming California Rework project for American Truck Simulator. You might be familiar with the word eureka, which is quite notoriously used in order to express the feeling of coming up with a new invention or perhaps a breakthrough discovery. Well, as it may happen, the name of the city of Eureka in California originates from this Ancient Greek word, and amazingly, there are many new additions arriving in the local area in the upcoming California Rework project. Lets see if you will scream the word yourself after taking a look at all the changes! |
From all of us here at SCS Software, we want to wish you all a very happy Easter! |
It's time to take a trip down memory lane! Back in August of 2002, we developed the simulator title "18 Wheels of Steel". Many of our trucking veterans may even remember playing this game when it first released. One of the locations you could go trucking to in one of the sequels (Extreme Trucker 2) was the U.S state of Montana, which happens to be also one of the current map expansions we are working on for American Truck Simulator. With this sort of history, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to revisit some of these iconic areas in our upcoming DLC. |
We are always trying to improve every aspect of our games and sometimes this progress paves the way for brand new realistic features that will solve any potential issues. One such addition is coming in the 1.44 update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Adjustable Suspension Height is on the horizon! |
California reigns as the state of viticulture, producing nearly 90% of all fermented grape juice made in the United States; and the Napa Valley is just one area which is home to many vineyards which produces the fruit needed. Today, we are giving you a look at this famous location which has been reworked in our on-going California rework project for American Truck Simulator. |
Montana enjoys a rich agricultural heritage. Ranching and farming has always been an important part of the State's economy, with livestock and crop production contributing close to two billion dollars to Montana's economy every year! So as you can imagine, truckers play a very important part in this industry. |
Located in Shasta County, California, the city of Redding is best known for its numerous attractions, landmarks, industries and world-renown outdoor surroundings. Founded in 1844 by European settlers, it has a rich history of culture and was even a major hub for mining during the gold rush. But this city still has plenty of gems remaining, especially when it comes to our California rework project for American Truck Simulator. |
Introducing the International 9900i, an American highway icon best known for its distinctive classic long-nose styling and performance. Today, we are excited to announce its arrival in American Truck Simulator! Available to purchase from your local in-game dealership, the International 9900i comes with numerous customisation options. |
It feels like it has been a while since a team from SCS has set out on the road with the purpose of pursuing greater technical improvements for our games and chatting a bit with real truckers in person. That is, however, about to change in April, because some of our developers will journey to Toronto, Canada! |
Are you ready to explore the Treasure State? From majestic mountains to crystal clear lakes, Montana will take your breath away with its unspoiled, natural beauty. While deer, antelope and elk outnumber people here, truckers will discover plenty of gems whilst delivering to the many cities & settlements located across the State. Let's take a closer look, shall we? |
Howdy, truckers! We have some interesting news for those who fancy hauling heavy loads in the American Truck Simulator. In addition to the hidden roads feature mentioned on our blog a couple of weeks ago, in the 1.44 update, you can look forward to a brand new ownable trailer type as well the drop deck trailer!
Let us know if you are looking forward to this sturdy, reliable, and practical trailer type coming with the 1.44 update for American Truck Simulator. On February 24, 2022, Russian military forces attacked the free country of Ukraine, which is located very close to the country of the Czech Republic, where our studio and team are based. We have all been left shocked and with very deep pain in our hearts since that day. All our thoughts are with those people and their families suffering the terrible effects of all that is happening over Ukraine during the past days. We would like to announce our company statement: we stand against the invasion of Ukraine. We deeply condemn this act of aggression for which there is no reason, nor excuse. |

Here comes the first blog post in 2022! And we think it's a good idea to start with something big. Something Texas-sized even! You know, everything is bigger in Texas. At least thats what they say. And while the term itself probably originates from the states enormous geographical area, Texas used to have six of the fifteen fastest-growing cities in America up until the year 2015. Perhaps, thanks to this, there are bigger populated areas filled to the brim as well. Lets take a look at some of the Cities and Settlements that will be featured in the upcoming Texas DLC and find out! |

Dear #BestCommunityEver, |
As part of the 1.43 update, we introduced new level of support for the controller in the game UI. Unfortunately, due to our mistake, the Steam Input configuration files were not properly updated and required manual update from our players. |
There are some things in life that are timeless, where the memory remains as strong today as the feeling was in the past. Perhaps like the first time you were given your most favourite Christmas toy. If you agree then you may also concur that some toys from bygone days retain a charm and magic that makes them irresistible, even today, to both young and old alike. Moreover, we feel there is something incredibly rewarding when you get the opportunity in life to share such a toy with someone else. Its a chance to offer something special and personal, something from your past.
[b]Community goals: Each tier of 350 Gifts, assigned to cities, will unlock unique community rewards for both games. There will be 7 tiers in total, so after 2450 Gifts are achieved all community goals will be completed, so let's ride! One final tip, if you haven't already figured it out and you would like to add just that extra special Christmas touch, then if you have our Christmas Paint Jobs Pack DLCs (ETS2, ATS), you will find that you can perfectly match your truck paint job with the Gifts cargo event trailer paint job that you're about to haul! Note: In order to qualify for any community reward, you must complete at least your personal goal in Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator or both. Each reward will be a Steam inventory item for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Once completed, claim your reward in the Events page on your World of Trucks profile. The event will be concluded on Sunday the 16th of January at 23:59 UTC. We're looking forward to hearing from you during your nostalgic Christmas journeys and convoys, and we are especially looking forward to seeing more of your photos as you meet your goals and receive your toys of yesteryear, this season of giving! Share your screenshots and videos with us using the hashtag #XmasToysOfYesteryear on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles and we will share our favorite ones. |

The nominations for the annual Steam Awards are opening, along with the start of the Steam Autumn Sale. Our games are once again featured in these special events. You may remember (we definitely do, thank you!) that our Euro Truck Simulator 2 managed to win in two categories during the first year of Steam Awards in 2016. |
We are working hard on the 1.43 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, as it is shaping up to be a fairly big update. There are many additions that require further information and while we have already announced it in our previously released ETS2 and ATS Open Beta blog posts, today well take a more detailed look at one of the new features arriving with this update - purchasable dumper trailers!
In American Truck Simulator, these trailers will be used for soil, gravel, limestone, sand, metal scrap, stones, and wood shavings. You will be able to choose from 3 customizable body types - end dumpers, side dumpers, and bottom dumpers. Each of them is available in different lengths, and in two or three-axle configurations. Side dumpers are available as b-double, turnpike, or single trailers; bottom dumpers can be used in double, rocky mountain double, turnpike double, and single configurations, and all other body types come with just a single trailer configuration. Apart from the mentioned above, here comes an exact list of the customizable parts:
We are extremely eager to see you hauling these new dumper trailers in your company and how you will customize them! Be sure to share with us your photos of your newly owned trailers on our Social Media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) once you will get your hands on them. |
After uploading a cryptic video trailer in which our 2D artist Annie painted a beautiful scene featuring mountains and flora, today we are excited to announce to you exactly what state this artwork was based on... |

Since the state of Texas is so enormous, it is only logical that in this upcoming map expansion we are going to bring quite a few new industries to the player to work with. One of these is the Offshore Shipyard industry, which is going to involve some of the biggest industrial complexes. Lets take a look at why you should really be excited about this great addition! |
The month of October is now behind us and so is #Pinktober2021. As we mentioned in ourprevious blog post, this time we are here to inform you about the amount that has been raised over the past year.
Keep in mind, you are free to support these, or any other organizations throughout the whole year. However, during this entire period donating money is not the primary way that you can join the fight! Spreading awareness, or making sure that those you hold dear will get their regular doctor and self-checks done is what matters the most! If you or anyone around you feels that something is not right, not being shy and seeking help is always strongly suggested! [previewyoutube=4Q3O5wDau0g;full][/previewyoutube] And finally, we greatly appreciate the collective effort to raise awareness for this issue. Apart from the support on our special #Pinktober2021 live stream, we have also noticed numerous social media posts that were spreading the word about the fight against Breast Cancer, and about health overall. Thank you very much! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1068290/Euro_Truck_Simulator_2__Pink_Ribbon_Charity_Pack/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1162160/American_Truck_Simulator__Pink_Ribbon_Charity_Pack/ |

Each October, many charities around the world organize various events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Due to the support and consequential impact of these activities, "Pinktober" has become an immensely important tradition. This idea is usually represented by the Pink Ribbon, which has become a symbol of hope and a reminder to promote and share the necessary health information.
Rest assured, we are always looking for the right opportunities to extend this list in the future! Until then, if youd like to support a good cause and obtain some new paint jobs for your trucks, now is the perfect opportunity to get these two DLCs or gift them to a friend and contribute to the battle against Breast Cancer. And in case you and your friends already own these DLCs, you can spread awareness by decorating your trucks in these paint jobs, and haul with pride while letting others know about this good cause by flooding social media with screenshots of your trucks under #Pinktober2021. Additionally, dont forget to actively do everything you can to remain healthy and to keep regular medical checks in mind. Apart from not feeling shy to visit the doctor if something doesnt feel right, make sure your loved ones are having regular checks, and most importantly, there are numerous health checks you can do by yourself, to help you stay safe. After all, health always comes first and it is definitely one of the most important aspects of human lives that should not simply be ignored! And finally, you can catch us live on Thursday 14th of October on our Twitchand Youtube for a special stream dedicated to #Pinktober2021. Come hang out with us in the chat and help us spread the word! |
Due to the vastness and diversity of Texas, it is virtually impossible to wrap up and put all the information about the local nature in only one blog post. That's why we decided to divide this topic into multiple dedicated blog posts. In today's, we start our presentation with the seemingly infinite plains, fields, and meadows, that stretch across most of this massive state. |
We love to bring you new game updates, especially ones that have been highly requested by our community! With the recent release of Wyoming for American Truck Simulator, we have been flooded with various feedback coming from all over the world and all kinds of platforms. |
The big day is here! Preparations to release Wyoming for American Truck Simulator are in top gear. We are also preparing for a special release stream with special guests. So what time is Wyoming releasing?
...and much more! We will also have a World of Trucks event available for all new visitors to Wyoming, with unique rewards to be earned as you visit all 10 cities and deliver jobs. Learn more about the rules in yesterday's blog post and take part in #CruisingWyoming at WorldofTrucks.com. We'd love to see your photos across our Social Media channels using the hashtag! We expect to have this event available to players for an extended period of time, probably way beyond the point of reaching the community goal. We don't want to motivate you to rush through the DLC in a hurry to make sure you manage to obtain the personal achievement. We simply want to reward early adopters of the DLC for spending quality time with the new content. Speaking of rewards, all truckers in Wyoming are eligible to receive a special cabin accessory, a Triceratops plush toy! To earn this unique reward, simply take any External Contract or External Market job to or from the city of Gillette. Why this city specifically you may ask? Believe it or not, paleontologists digging in northeastern Wyoming (so near Gillette) have uncovered fossilized remains of three triceratopses - possibly the most complete specimens of the dinosaurs yet found! So be sure to claim your part of prehistoric history for your cabin. We will also be hosting a special Wyoming release live stream across official Steam & Twitch channels starting at 16:00 CEST. Don't miss out on this broadcast as we talk with Davido (DLC Lead) PLUS a special guest appearance from Pavel ebor CEO of SCS Software! We will be answering questions from the community, talking in-depth about the DLC, giving away free Wyoming Steam keys and of course, releasing the highly anticipated map expansion LIVE on stream! We hope you'll enjoy exploring what Wyoming has to offer! We will see you on the roads. |

One of the nicknames that we have yet to mention when talking about the state that will be arriving in the upcoming map expansion is "Big Wyoming". While Wyoming has earned this nickname due to its 10th largest area by landmass out of all 50 states, today we will do our best to make fans of this particular nickname proud in our own way and share with you some BIG news regarding the new DLC. |
Designed and engineered to keep drivers more comfortable and productive for the long haul, the International LT is the most driver-centric, uptime-focused truck that International Trucks has ever delivered. Today, we are excited to announce that the truck is now available in American Truck Simulator from your nearest International Trucks dealership. |
We are excited to partner up with Thrustmaster to join the launch of their all-new T248 steering wheel! Being invited as a launch partner is a confirmation of the high status of our truck sim games in the driving simulation genre. In practice, this means that our programmers have had a chance to get their hands on pre-production units before they hit the market, to make sure that our games will support the wheel's new features at launch. |
With the final touches being made to the Wyoming DLC, we are excited to announce a release date for this exciting new addition to American Truck Simulator. |
Hey, psst! Something cool seems to be under development by the SCS vehicle team. We have glimpsed some real heavy machinery being valiantly pulled at locations in both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Could this be a new DLC in the works? Take a look at these pictures and let us know what you think! |
As promised in our previous blog regarding cities along I-80, today well present to you the amazing capital of Wyoming - Cheyenne. The so-called Magic City of the Plains is located in the southeastern corner of the state and it sprawls over a high prairie that descends westward to the Laramie Mountains. While the name itself may evoke images of cowboys, trains, and wide-open natural spaces, todays city is much more than that! |
In our latest 1.41 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, we introduced Convoy! Convoy is a new multiplayer game mode where players can set up and host their own private sessions (password optional) to drive with their friends or other fellow truckers. With synchronized AI traffic, time and weather, and the ability to take the same job as other players, lots of you have been enjoying trucking together. |
Its been almost a month since we announced the Idaho Spuds World of Trucks event. This unique event was a celebration of the 1st anniversary since our Idaho DLC release, where drivers had the opportunity to earn rewards by completing personal and community goals while having the chance to also drive the famous Big Idaho Potato truck and trailer - used to advertise Idaho potatoes throughout the United States. |
It seems that we may have underestimated the horsepower of the hype train. With tens of thousands of views in less than 24 hours after releasing the previous gameplay video and hundreds of positive opinions shared in the blog comments section and the video itself (we counted it), it would be a shame to not reward our #BestCommunityEver with a second gameplay video for this great reception. So once again, grab a bucket full of popcorn, relax and this time enjoy the ride from Kemmerer Point of Entry to an area close to the Alpine Truck Stop. Please keep in mind that while parts of this gameplay video routes through the States of Utah and Idaho, all content shown will be included in the Wyoming DLC. |
Hours upon hours of driving through vast and massive states tend to take their toll, and a truckers life is not simply pressing the pedal and moving forward. Whether you are longing for a small change of scenery or its that time of your travels to rest your weary head and take a break for some time, welcome areas and rest stops in the upcoming Wyoming DLC will allow for just that. |
With the recent release of the Convoy feature for ATS and ETS2,our social media channels have witnessed an avalanche of absolutely incredible photos and videos from your first multiplayer journeys, in which you and your friends were taking on the same jobs and delivering cargo together. Its difficult to simply express with words how much we appreciate this kind of feedback, since in the end, whatever we do we are doing for the happiness of our #BestCommunityEver. |
Agriculture has been an integral part of every human society for thousands of years and it is truly exceptional how this practice of cultivating plants and livestock remains just as important to this very day. For Wyoming, modern farming is a key component in the overall economy of the state. Lets take a closer look at the Cowboy State and examine why the previous statement is true and along the way show you multiple new screenshots from the upcoming map expansion as well! |
There are so many pieces in a truckers life that all fit together like a perfectly-built puzzle. From driving on the road to passing by various landmarks, there are certain aspects you simply cannot leave out. One of those elements are undoubtedly the weigh stations. Today we will take a look at some of these locations that will be featured in the upcoming Wyoming DLC. |
We are celebrating the 1st anniversary since our Idaho DLC release, by highlighting its famous potato industry. So, were inviting our #BestCommunityEver to join us in hauling Idaho Spuds - our latest World of Trucks event! The community goal is to achieve 200,000 deliveries of either Potatoes or the The Big Idaho Potato; weve gone all out to faithfully reproduce this famous truck and trailer, used to advertise and praise Idaho potatoes throughout the state.
All jobs for the event need to be 100 miles each (161 km) or more. You can check if your recent deliveries met these conditions using your Log Book in your World of Trucks profile. Rewards: Personal goal: Individual player contributions of 6 deliveries of Potatoes cargo and 1 delivery of The Big Idaho Potato cargo, from any Idaho city, will gain that player a personal World of Trucks Achievement, and 2 Steam inventory items for their cabin. A yummy Wooden Bowl of fresh crisp potato chips, and an attractive, Idaho unique, Giant Salamander Sticker. Community goal: When the community goal of achieving 200,000 deliveries of either Potatoes cargo or The Big Idaho Potato cargo, from any city in Idaho is met, and if the player has also achieved their personal goal then they will receive 2 Steam inventory items for their cabin. A specially designed Idaho Nights Air Freshener, and a cute Idaho Potato Sticker. 200,0002Steam Note: In order to qualify for the community rewards, you must complete at least your personal goal in American Truck Simulator. Each reward will be a Steam inventory item for American Truck Simulator. Once completed, claim your reward in the Events page on your World of Trucks profile. The event will be concluded on Sunday the 15th of August at 23:59 UTC. |
With lots of testing, feedback, fixing, and fine-tuning, we are excited to announce the highly anticipated arrival of update 1.41 for American Truck Simulator.

We know how many players are eager to try out this new feature; however, there are some things you will need to know before joining your friends on the road! Notable issues / not yet implemented:
Worried about your profile progress? In case of trouble-makers or other circumstances out of your control, players will have the option to revert their savefile to one made previously before joining the session. From friends to VTC's, we are excited to see how you will enjoy Convoy and we look forward to hearing your constructive feedback on this new online feature. California Reskin During our special Christmas 2020 live stream, we announced that we would be revisiting California in American Truck Simulator to give our starting state a reskin! Today, we bring the first iteration of this reskin, carrying a major road layout rework, agriculturestations, and more! One of the most noticeable changes drivers will experience when arriving in California are the new agriculture border control stations! All drivers hauling goods into the state will have to undergo special checks from the control station where vehicles are inspected for commodities that may be infested with invasive species, and for the correct documentation. In-game, we will mimic these scenarios with a new feature, which will work very similarly to the current weigh stations. Upon your arrival at the border, depending on what you are hauling, drivers will be notified to pull over for an inspection at one of the control stations before they are given the green light to enter the state.

Our world design tools have been considerably improved during the years since ATS was released as well, and we plan to take advantage of the new power. For example, our map designers can now pay attention to details like the proper roll of the road surface in a curve. We are also trying to make sure we get our research right when it comes to unique road signage elements, proper road markings, or the use of cat's eyes. We hope to achieve a completely new look and feel when driving across the State. Read more here.

Photo Mode: Time & Weather options We know how much our players love to take photos in-game and spend a lot of time creating that perfect shot, and for many, this also includes finding the right lighting conditions and weather. So to help create that perfect trucking memory, we have implemented a new feature that may save you quite a bit of time when it comes to using console commands! Introducing the new Time and Weather options! Players will now be able to choose the conditions of their liking, to create the perfect trucking snap just by simply adjusting a new slider to change the time, or clicking on two buttons to control the lighting/weather, all of which will appear in the updated in-game photo studio. We can't wait to see how drivers will use this new feature in the future and we look forward to seeing your snaps! Changelog: Gameplay:

An interesting couple of weeks full of testing is behind us and we have been making great improvements largely thanks to your feedback, our #BestCommunityEver. The time to switch gears and drive forward into the future is almost here and we believe now is the right time for another teaser! |
We have received some interesting images today, in which you can see that a CCTV camera located at an unspecified place, that seems to be a farm, has captured a really cool-looking trailer and truck. The search for further information is still ongoing, so for now all we can do is wait for more details to be released. |
You may have noticed a certain pattern evolving when we are talking about the upcoming Wyoming expansion. Every once in a while there is a mention of the Interstate 80 (or simply I-80) and there is a proper reason for that. Today we will describe to you the importance of this transcontinental freeway and show you which cities you will be able to visit on your journey along this historic road. |
Good news everyone! After releasing several articles related to the Wyoming map expansion and teasing you with a lot of beautiful images, we figured that in order to keep things moving, today may be the right time to bring out an actual gameplay video and add more fuel to the fire in the engine of the speeding hype train. Please sit down, get some snacks and enjoy this short ride-along in the upcoming Wyoming DLC, covering a drive from Riverton to Jackson, WY. |
Just like great movies always deserve a sequel, content updates with a large amount of beautiful screenshots deserve a second part as well. That is why today we are bringing to you a second collection of images from the upcoming Wyoming DLC and its road network. The feedback for the first set of pictures involved a lot of praise (such as - great, nice, wonderful, superb and... crazy) so well see how this one will fare. |
It is a generally known fact that about seventy-one percent of Earths surface is covered by water, and that is why it would be unimaginable to talk about the upcoming Wyoming DLC without ever mentioning the local water bodies! Without any hesitation, lets dive into what you can expect. |
We love to bring you new game updates, especially when they contain features that have been requested for a long time! Those who are familiar with our forum probably already heard about our quietly released Experimental Open Beta for 1.41 update, which we have decided to release without extra promotion so we could closely and carefully monitor the first wave of community feedback. Convoy is, for sure, the most anticipated content coming to ATS with this update.

Changelog
Gameplay:

If youve seen the title and now you are terrified that instead of delivering the usual goods, youre now going to become the ferryman Charon himself, transporting souls by the river Styx, or perhaps that this is going to be some sort of spooky horror blog post, then have no fear, we are going to talk about a major landmark of Wyoming instead! You have seen many legendary places during your driving adventures, but the opportunity to witness the Devils Tower in the distance while you are sitting behind the wheel is a chance unlike any other. And it looks breathtaking in all situations, no matter the hour or weather, right? |
Howdy, truckers! We don't talk very often aboutTexas DLC on our blog, as there is still a ton of work ahead of us to start hyping it too much. But we have assembled the largest team ever to work on an ATS DLC for this project, and they keep producing great stuff. Today we are delighted to share some of the landmarks and prefabs that you will eventually be able to spot while on the road in this massive state. Get your cowboy hats ready and let's jump right into it! |

You may have noticed that Steam is currently running the Open World sale. We consider ourselves pioneers of the open-world exploration genre with our truck sims, and we are happy that both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator have been included in such an offer among other great titles. |
We know what youre thinking. Youve already seen the nature of Wyoming on our blog previously. The problem, or perhaps an advantage, is that our lovely map designers supplied us with many more beautiful scenes taken from the upcoming Wyoming DLC and it wouldve been criminal not to share these additional screenshots with the #BestCommunityEver. So buckle up and enjoy the ride! |
Recently, we shared the first development update on giving our starting state in American Truck Simulator a reskin. Today we are excited to share with you another update regarding the major road layout rework. What changes can drivers expect to see? Let's take a closer look, shall we? |
When it comes to natural beauty, Wyoming boasts an impressive number of firsts, including America's first national monument, the nation's first national forest, and the world's first national park. With an abundance of breathtaking landscapes, it's no wonder that one of the state's top contributors to the economy is Tourism! In American Truck Simulator, you'll get to experience all of this and more in our upcoming Wyoming DLC. |
Goodyear tires are the product of over 120 years of innovation and state-of-the-art technology, offering very high levels of performance and safety. During our special Christmas 2020 live stream, we announced that we would be revisiting California in American Truck Simulator to give our starting state a reskin! Today we are excited to share with you a development update on the progress of this project and what changes you can expect to see! Let's take a closer look, shall we?
Let's focus on one of the more noticeable changes drivers will experience when arriving in California, the new agriculture border control stations! These special stations are the first line of defense in pest exclusion efforts. All drivers hauling goods into the state will have to undergo special checks from the control station where vehicles are inspected for commodities that may be infested with invasive species, and for the correct documentation.

In-game, we will mimic these scenarios with a new feature, which will work very similar to the current weigh stations. The mining industry in the United States has a long history and continues to play a crucial role in the country's economy today.Despite being a top consumer of coal, the US is also among the top five exporters of it. Through rain and shine, there's been a driving force that has kept our team in top gear throughout our company's history of game development. From earlier game titles such asHard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel to our well-known titles of today, we've been lucky to have YOU,our #BestCommunityEver as our co-driver every mile of our journey so far. |
With the demand for shipping higher than ever before, drivers on the road are not the only ones feeling the pressure when it comes to making on-time deliveries.Whilst the logistics of railroad operations is completely different to those of a trucker, neither party would be able to operate without the other. And as the railroad network often closely follows the roads, one could say trains are sometimes well-known company on a trucker's journey through the lands, hauling important cargo side by side. |
Located in the northwest corner of the U.S State of Wyoming, you'll find the town of Jackson, the gateway to the Grand Teton National Park. |

Today we are happy to share with you that 1.40 sees the introduction of new viewpoints to the states of New Mexico & Oregon. For newer players of our titles, Viewpoints are certain spots found across the map, where drivers can activate a special in-game cutscene with a short showcase of a near location or place of interest. These can be found displayed as a grey question mark on your GPS, so be sure to stop and discover them on your journeys. You also have the option to skip the viewpoint or replay it if you wish to watch it again. Truck stops provide fuel, food, and a place to rest not only for truckers but for other visitors too. Found along the highways of America, stopping at some of these large plazas with multiple amenities have become the new normal for drivers, with famous chains becoming more well-known among frequent travelers. |
The changes that we are introducing with the 1.40 update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 have been visible to the public for some time now, in the currently still ongoing Open Beta builds. By far the most visible change is the new lighting system, which has turned out to be the largest graphical rework for us in years. In today's blog post we would like to reveal more about what we have been through to make this change happen; let's take a look under the hood once again.
As you can imagine by now - all this has been a tremendous amount of work for our team. The initial bright spark (pun intended) that made this all possible came from a small team of programmers and a visual effects artist (pictured below). They have kept hacking, iterating, and laying out plans until the whole team had it "easy",and all that was left to do was just to throw in many years of additional man-hours to adjust everything to the new logic.

The new light system, just as the implementation of FMOD support for the SFX part of our games, is still under further development, polishing, and tuning. And there is still a lot of work ahead of us. At this juncture, we feel that it's already more or less in a presentable shape, and you may experience it too if you decide to give it a try in an open beta build right now on Steam.

So please, if you'd like to help us - put on your favorite sunglasses and help us catch the perfect sunrise! We're looking forward to reading your thoughts and opinions on the new light system. Thank you very much! |

Located at the foot of Pikes Peak, you'll find the city of Colorado Springs, the state's 2nd most populous city behind Denver. So what makes this part of the state so attractive to residents and tourists alike? Let's find out! |
Today is a very special day not only for the Czech Republic, our home country, but also for our friends in Slovakia. On this very day 102 years ago (October 28th 1918), Czechoslovakia declared independence. Many things have changed since that time - most importantly, in 1993, former Czechoslovakia split into 2 separate countries: The Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. But the year 1918 still remains the most significant milestone in the recent history of both countries to this date. |
Colorado has one of the most unique and varied natural landscapes found in North America. From emerald-green national forests to the incredible red rock formations jutting up from the earth at Garden of the Gods, youll find it nearly impossible to resist taking the time out of delivering loads to explore the natural beauty this state has to offer. |
A trip to Colorado is not complete without a visit to the state's capital city. Located where the prairies of the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains, Denver is home to an array of historic locations, attractions, and most importantly for truckers, industries! |
With all of the excitement surrounding the recent releases and updates coming to American Truck Simulator, we are happy that the work on the planned 1.39 update has reached an important milestone! We are ready to preview it with the player community in the form of an Experimental Beta.

Colorado offers a long list of amazing landmarks for visitors and residents alike to admire and visit, but one specific area of this colorful state attracts drivers from across the world. |
Traditionally, a trucker in American Truck Simulator will spend their time driving mostly on tarmacked highways and roads on long haul journeys, however with the introduction of new industries in different sates, it is no longer uncommon to find a job contract that delivers to an area off-road. |
A trucker wouldn't be much without their truck and trailer, and the same is true within our simulation titles. Today we are excited to share with you some news about lowboy trailers in American Truck Simulator that will come with 1.39 update. |

The year is 1890, Wyoming and Idaho have just been admitted as the 43rd and 44th states in the USA and the last great North American "Gold Rush" has just begun. 73kms southwest of Colorado Springs, a "part-time cowboy and full-time drinker" known as Robert Womack has just found small specks of gold glittering in the local creek, which encouraged him to dig countless prospecting holes in an attempt to find more. The outcome? The richest gold mine in Colorado's history. |
We asked you to get creative and get snapping across Idaho, and disappoint you did not! With over a thousand submissions made using the hashtag #CaptureIdaho across our social media profiles, our judges have had quite the handful to choose their favorites pictures submitted from you our community. So which pictures caught our eye? Let's find out.
These are not our only winners however, as we have chosen 5 more winners who will also receive a special Idaho-themed T-shirt. These pictures were chosen specially by our panel of judges and came very close to making the top 3! @M4tt_IS @saikumaresan1 Robert Meek (Facebook) CK Dezerter ____1v4n____ (Instagram) We really enjoyed how much creativity, time, and effort went in the entries we received and we especially loved seeing a steady stream of new photos from Idaho on our social media feeds every day. We'd love you to keep snapping (and not just in Idaho!) so be sure to continue to share your creative content with us across our official social media channels. Please, if you've spotted your image and profile here, make sure to check also your inboxes and messages received, because we'll be in touch with you very soon to find out where we should send your T-shirt! To everyone who took part in this creative contest, thank you! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We'd love to host similar competitions in the future, so if you happen to brainstorm any ideas for a future contest, let us know in the blog comments below, we'd love to hear it! |
On July 16th, we invited you to take part in our World of Trucks Event #CruisingIdaho, which celebrated the release of Idaho for American Truck Simulator. The community goal at hand was to achieve 30,000,000 miles (48,280,320 km) while delivering cargoes to or from any city in Idaho, and deliver you did. |
Truckers can spend over 300 days per year on the road delivering a variety of loads across different states and countries. That is why our teams spend a lot of time making sure road networks are represented in the best way possible within our titles; and Colorado for American Truck Simulator will be no exception. |
Having received quite a few messages from our #BestCommunityEver about not finding enough free time to finish their personal goal in the currently ongoing #CruisingIdaho World of Trucks event, we started wondering if we should extend its duration a little bit more. |
With the recent release of Idaho for American Truck Simulator, the internet has been flooded with screenshots and videos from our community. From the /r/TruckSim Reddit to our official Twitter profile, you have been sharing your journey across this new DLC and your favorite viewpoints along the way.
You can find our official social media handles here:SCS Software Instagram,SCS Software Twitter,American Truck Simulator Facebook page,SCS Software Facebook page.
So what prizes can you win? Let's take a look at the rewards on offer here!
Prizes
PLUS we will choose 5 more winners who will also receive a special T-shirt! We look forward to seeing all your entries and how you can #CaptureIdaho in a unique or different way! Plus if you want, join us on Twitch and Steam tomorrow from 18.00 CEST as we will do a live stream full of Idaho gameplay, Steam keys giveaway, and chatting with you, our #BestCommunityEver! As one of the more diverse states in terms of geography and topography, the US region of Colorado is known for its national parks and modern cities. The state is especially famous for its Rocky Mountains, however, much of the eastern part of the region is dominated by a unique grassland that extends across the American continent. |
Five days ago, we released the latest expansion for American Truck Simulator, the state of Idaho. |
The day has come and so has Idaho! Preparations for arelease party are in top gear! We are also preparing for a special release stream with special guests. So when exactly is Idaho releasing?
And that shouldn't be the only reason to explore the State for yourself! As an added bonus we will also have a World of Trucks event for all new visitors to Idaho with unique rewards to be earned as you visit each city and deliver jobs. Learn more about the rules in our yesterday blog post and take part in #CruisingIdaho at WorldofTrucks.com. We'd love to see your photos across our Social Media channels using the hashtag! We expect to have this event available to players for an extended period of time, probably way beyond the point of reaching the 30 million miles community goal. We don't want to motivate you to rush through the DLC in a hurry to make sure you manage to obtain the personal achievement. We simply want to reward early adopters of the DLC for spending quality time with the new content. We will also be hosting a special Idaho release live-stream across Steam & Twitch starting at 15:00 CEST. Don't miss out on this broadcast as we talk with members of the map and research teams involved in the creation of Idaho and a special guest appearance fromPavel ebor CEO of SCS Software! We will be answering questions from the community, talking in-depth about the DLC and of course, releasing Idaho LIVE on stream! With the release of Idaho, we will also be making a new special Steam discount bundle available. Introducing the Pacific Northwest bundle which includes the American Truck Simulator base game as well as Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Forest Machinery DLCs, and the Classic Stripes Paint Jobs Pack. The way Steam bundles work, it's both a perfect bundle for any new drivers who are keen to make a start in their new truckin' career, as well as a way for the loyal fans to obtain the new DLC at a nice discount if you already own the previous DLCs. We hope you enjoy exploring what Idaho has to offer, we will see you on the roads! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1209470/American_Truck_Simulator__Idaho/ |

There are 11 cities in the Idaho DLC and we want you to see them all. So, we're giving a special reward for completing your personal goal which will require job deliveries to or from all of them. Both the personal and community rewards are a reflection of Idaho's unique natural history and beauty, and we really think you will like them. But more on that in the rules, so please be sure to read them. Idaho, Esto Perpetua (It is forever), is our latest addition to American Truck Simulator. Let's see her sites, breathe the air, and take in the grandness of this incredible and varied state. Rules: Using External Contracts or External Market, with a World of Trucks-connected profile in American Truck Simulator, the community goal is to achieve 30,000,000 miles (48,280,320 km) while delivering cargoes to or from any city in Idaho. The cities are: Sandpoint, Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston, Grangeville, Salmon, Boise, Ketchum, Idaho Falls, Nampa, Twin Falls, Pocatello. When a player completes delivery to or from all 11 Idaho cities, it will complete their personal goal. All jobs for the event need to be 100 miles each(161 km) or more. To verify if you comply with the rules, you can review your recent deliveries in the World of Trucks' LogBook. Rewards: Personal goal: Individual player contributions of deliveries, either to or from all 11 Idaho cities will gain that player a personal World of Trucks Achievement and a beautiful Appaloosa themed ATS truck paint job Steam inventory item.

Community goal: When the community goal of clocking up 30,000,000 miles (48,280,320 km) during deliveries to/from any of the 11 cities in Idaho is met, and if the player has also achieved their personal goal then they will receive a hanging Peregrine Gem ornament Steam inventory item.

We look forward to seeing drivers new and old exploring Idaho for the first time, and we would love to see photos from your first journeys across the state border! Colorado boasts having some of the best wildernesses and mountain ranges in the United States, and from our previous research trip, it's easy to see why. However, while drivers are enjoying the scenery, we need to remember the reason for our journey! Let's take a closer look at some of the new key industries that will be arriving in our upcoming Colorado DLC for American Truck Simulator. |
From wide open roads to larger sized trucks, everything in the American Truck Simulator world does appear to be a little bigger when compared with its European counterpart. However, one thing that does stay consistently large no matter where you are, is the size of our Special Transport loads!
Each journey will come with its own challenges. So make sure to adhere to the GPS advisor and speed limit which have been set-out for you before your departure, as there is no room for mistakes!

If you are not an owner of the Special Transport DLC, be sure to pick it up whilst the Steam Summer Sale is still ongoing. Some of our more eagle-eyed fans may have spotted, in arecent blog postshowcasing our team's home work stations, a small teaser displayed on one of the desktops. Did you spot it? |
If you happen to be driving between Salt Lake City and Portland, you can be sure to see beautiful landscapes, magnificent forests, numerous small cities and even smaller towns along the way. However, there is one major bustling metropolis which is an essential stop for any traveler passing through, the city of Boise! |
It's time we take a closer look at our next upcoming state for American Truck Simulator, Idaho. We are starting off slow here, as we do not want to spoil the enjoyment of discovering the beauty of the state by showing you too much, too early. |
From housing to flooring, furniture and the paper in your book, wood products are more prevalent in your daily life than you may realize. The logging industry plays a large role for the economy in the United States. |
Back in 2019, four members of our American Truck Simulator map team (Nicolaj Toft Nielsen, Tomas Opekar, Tomas Dubsky and Patrik Sadlon) took to the skies and traveled across the pond to the USA on a very important research trip. While we couldn't tell you at the time (as it would ruin the surprise), our team made sure to keep a detailed account of their trip, and here are just some of the highlights of what they got up to. |
Truck stops have served highway drivers for many years, providing fuel, food, and a place to rest for many weary travelers. Found along the highways of America, these stops have evolved into more than just a place to fill up the tank. From the small roadside fuel pump islands to large plazas with multiple amenities, major chains have developed, offering services across the country. |
It's time to discover an American legend. The all-new Mack Anthem for American Truck Simulator is now available to purchase from your local in-game dealership with a variety of customization options. |
Over the past weeks, our fan community has been abuzz with speculations about the arrival of a new truck brand in American Truck Simulator. You may have seen a few glimpses of this truck hidden across our social media channels; but today, we are happy to put these rumors to rest and present to you this American legend in its full glory. |
After much testing, feedback, fixing and fine tuning, we are excited to announce the arrival of update 1.37 for American Truck Simulator!

No matter where you are travelling in Idaho, you will be sure to agree that it is a beautiful state; with its mountain ranges, national parks and bustling towns. However you will find that there are some significant differences between the North and South regions of Idaho. So what are some of these differences? |
The #TruckAtHome event has come to end, which has made way for the highly anticipated ETS2 1.37 Open Beta; nonetheless, we couldn't be more proud of our community. Players from around the world united in driving loads in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator to help spread this important message, to stay at home. |
We really do have the #BestCommunityEver! In less than 24 hours of the event starting, drivers in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator taking part collectively drove 120 million kilometers (about 74 million miles) using our World of Trucks contracts and external market. |
Virtual Truckers of the world, we are all enduring a difficult time, as the world fights against COVID-19. It's time for us to respond in the best way we can.
#TruckAtHome Event Rules:
Using External Contracts or External Market, with a World of Trucks-connected profile, in Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator or both, the community is to cover as much distance as possible while making deliveries. All completed jobs will have their planned route distance added to the event progress. For each milestone of 20,000,000 km reached by the community, we will be offering Steam keys in a special social media giveaway campaign. Furthermore, we pledge to undertake a positive action to help those who are combating COVID-19 for each milestone reached, and will announce these on a case by case basis. A player will reach their personal goal once they have delivered over a combined planned route distance of 2,500 km or more.
Reward:
Personal goal: An individual contribution of completed deliveries reaching a combined planned route distance of 2,500 km (ca. 1,600 miles) or more earns that player a prestigious World of Trucks Achievement. Then, after 1.37 has been released, we will further complement this with a special Steam inventory item reward, yet to be announced. Community goals: For each milestone of 20,000,000 km (ca. 12,500,000 miles) reached by the community, we will be offering Steam keys in a special social media giveaway campaign. Furthermore, we pledge to undertake a positive action to help those who are combating COVID-19 for each milestone reached and will announce these on a case by case basis. The event will be concluded on Monday the 6th of April at 23:59 UTC. Let's get the message out there to #TruckAtHome, and make the world a safer place. Play Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator during this unprecedented event. Any content under #TruckAtHome along with tagging our profileson Facebook (SCS, ATS, ETS2), Instagram or Twitter will be in the running for a special reward. Post videos, take screenshots, write reviews, create chat rooms and discuss the event and message, make artwork about it. Do whatever it takes, just stay at home and stay safe. Are you an established streamer? Get in touch with us at press@scssoft.com to obtain Steam keys to engage your audience during the event. Please make sure your message is written in English. We have crafted this event really quickly compared to previous events. It may not offer a glorious trailer to haul and we promised a reward only after 1.37, but it was undertaken because we feel it was the right thing to do, because it was the most we can do and because we feel the message needs to be sent out loud and clear, not next week, not tomorrow but now stay home and stay safe. Thank you for understanding and enjoy the event! |
What could this possibly be about? Who knows, anything is paw-sible... |
After much guessingand debate, many of you came to the conclusion of which state we showcased in our recentteaser trailer.Today we are putting those theories to rest... |
Po-tay-toes! Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish, even we couldn't say no to that. It's one of the first things that people think of when it comes to Idaho. In fact, the state is so famous for its potatoes, in 2018farmers harvested 14.2 billion pounds of potatoes. |
Following increased and overwhelming concerns regarding the novel coronavirus, we have had to adjust to the new situation. |
Guess where we are. We will give you a clue. You can find arid desert, river canyons and stunning national parks all within this one State. |
As you travel through the highways and interstates of Idaho, you will find the similar types of road signage that are typically found across the United States, however, there is a unique sign that may catch your eye as you travel. |
Did you know we have a gallery where you can upload your images from Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator for the world to see? You may have seen them featured on the World of Trucks homepage before, or even between loading screens; but who chooses these images and who is submitting them? |

Due to popular demand, the return of video contest has been a success! This year we allowed you to record on Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, which brought a lot of variety to the videos submitted.
We have also picked some of your entries to be featured on our social media channels, because of the number of great videos you've sent us. We certainly did enjoy watching them all! Be sure to look out for them on our official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Unfortunately, not all entries made it to our judging panel as they did not reach the requirements we set for the contest, so make sure to read the rules carefully next time! Also, if you have any feedback, wishes or requests, please let us know in the comment section. What would you change to make our future contests easier or more interesting? Would you like a different format? One of the more popular bits of feedback we received, which was to reply/ confirm/ validate every entry that was received unfortunately isn't possible for us. A BIG thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our top 5! All winners will be contacted and notified by the email from which they sent their entry. |

Sometimes driving the highway can be lonely work, you may have the radio playing, or even have the GPS Voice Navigation enabled, but nothing beats the feeling of driving together with a fellow trucker. |
After driving hundreds of miles through the night, the first light of the morning is often a very welcome sight for drivers. For many, it's the first glimpse of the surrounding landscape as the sun rises creating spectacular colors and rays of light in the sky, which makes for a beautiful photo. |

Many people don't know much about Idaho beside it's famous potatoes, but there is much more to be discovered across this U.S. state. Today, we'd like to share with you an early preview of some of the landmark prefabs you will be able to see on your future travels. |
With the release of our latest and newest content, we have received a large number of screenshots, videos and more across our social media channels and forums. Last year we organized a contest that gave the opportunity to the creative film-makers of our community to show off their work. This year we're not only repeating that, but also including American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 together.

As many of you may be aware, Australia has been under a state of emergency due to the large amount of bushfires which have spread uncontrollably across approximately 103,000 square km of land. Fueled by drought and extreme heat, the bushfires have burned across much of the country since September, and have caused devastation to many homes, towns, forests and animals. |
Just like that, the Christmas Grand Giving event has ended, where did the time go to? Since we started game development, we knew that having an enthusiastic modding community is a real blessing in this industry. With that in mind, years ago we decided to bring to our community the ultimate toolchain for anyone willing to create content for our in-game worlds and to create mods for our titles. Blender Tools supports the complete creation pipeline of any type of in-game items such as trucks, AI vehicles, models, prefabs (including support for all possible locators including AI traffic lines) and many other game assets found in both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.

It's better to give than receive. It's a truth best learnt through experience, and it benefits all involved. Thats why this year we are doing something very new and very special for our 2019 Christmas Grand Giving event in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. |
When you see this truck on the road, there is no mistaking what it might be. It's a truck with a look like no other and with a reputation across the industry. Today, we are excited to announce that the International LoneStar is now available in American Truck Simulator. |
There is a star that is shining brighter than all the rest, but you won't find this star in the sky. Easily recognisable by its shape, size and unique large front grill, this truck stands out wherever it travels. |
It's that time of year again where players across the world nominate their favourite games in 8 different categories in the Steam Awards! We believe this is a great opportunity for players to recognise and reward game studios and developers for creating a title they really enjoy playing. |
We are happy to see how much our community has been enjoying driving in American Truck Simulator with the recent release of Utah. New drivers also had the opportunity to hit the road with a free weekend and take advantage of sales to our ATS collection on Steam (available until Thursday!).

If you were to look at a population density map of Utah, you will find that a majority of citizens live in the northern part of the state in larger cities such as Salt Lake City and Provo. However this doesn't make the rest of the state a ghost town, you can find towns small and large spread across the entire region. |
With the final touches being made to the upcoming map expansion we are excited to announce the release date of the latest map addition to American Truck Simulator.
Included with the release of Utah will be 2 new and challenging Special Transport DLC missions. With loads starting from Vernal to Salt Lake City (Kennecott Copper Mine) and from Provo to Price (Oil Industry), can you complete the task of delivering these challenging loads?

From the famous red rocks all the way to great Salt Lake, we can't wait for you haul and explore this beautiful state. A drive through Utah isn't all rocks and desert, driving north of the state you will come across the more populated towns and cities including the bustling metropolis Salt Lake City, which serves as a major hub for industries, businesses, and transport. |
Before the luxury of GPS navigation, making a journey across multiple states was tough work. Opening large paper maps, trying to pinpoint your location and looking for landmarks often made a driver's job very frustrating. However, there was one thing that kept truckers in the know of their location, The Welcome Sign. |
It's time for us to start our engines and shift into gear for our upcoming release for American Truck Simulator. |
As we didn't talk much about this update, except on yesterday's stream (you couldn't resist, could you Pavel?), we presume it's a little bit of a mystery to most of you - so let's go through the list before you try out the Open Beta for American Truck Simulator's 1.36 Update!

So whats the story behind the spectacular hues and rock formations for which Utah is so famous for? Formed as a result of the areas unique geology and millions of years of erosion, these incredible rock structures can be found mostly around the South of Utah. |
Pink ribbons, and the colour pink in general, are most commonly seen during the (International) Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual health campaign organised by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness and raise funds to fight the disease. |
A truck driver's journey through Utah isn't all desert and dust. Some of nature's greatest landmarks are found across this mountainous and populated state. One the best-known group of rock formations, Monument Valley can be seen towering over some of the nearby highways at well over 1,000 feet tall. That is just one of the many stunning landmarks that nature has to offer. |
This summer there were multiple SCS Software teams traveling the globe to attend various events, meet the community, or explore new options for the company. As of today, another crew just appeared in the US to record the sounds of as many trucks as possible! They're going to spend a week in Allentown, PA and move to Lisle, IL next, but they are thinking of improvising further to visit more locations if needed. |

Known for its pioneers and religious history, breathtaking national parks and ski resorts, Utah has a large Travel and Tourism economy which sees over 23 million people a year. However, this is not the state's only booming industry. |
We are back home after an exciting and exhausting marathon that is Gamescom. |
|
After a long days' drive through the hot and dusty roads of Utah, truckers will need somewhere to take a well-deserved rest. Truck Stops are the cornerstone for any driver, providing the necessary amenities and facilities for truckers who are out on the road for the long haul. |
The Voice Navigation feature introduced in the1.35Update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2has garnered a large number of positive reviews. We have also heard our community's feedback loud and clear, that they want to see more language options included. |
It's time we take a closer look at our next upcoming state for American Truck Simulator, Utah. Known for its mountain ranges, state and national parks, history and culture, it is considered to be one of the greatest outdoor states in the USA. |
Today we have some work-in-progress screenshots of new delivery points represented by local industries. The Utah map expansion will offer many brand new and unique ones. All of those are very important as a part of the in-game economy. |
On July 16, 1969, at 13:32:00 UTC, The Apollo 11 Saturn V space rocket blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center, sending astronauts Commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin on an incredible mission to the moon and back. |
One of the major features of the 1.35 update, for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, was the addition of the GPS Voice Navigation functionality and the welcome party was great! It felt like only minutes after we pushed the button, that almost every nation had one or more versions of their own language supported for the voice-over feature. This is thanks to the community who took full advantage of our games' mod support. |
Many of you beelieved it when we told you that there's another map expansion coming to American Truck Simulator later this year, and most of you guessed the right one! |
Last week we released a short cryptic video, giving you a clue of what map expansion will be arriving later this year for American Truck Simulator. |
Following the latest mini-update for 1.35 and the recently released Washington map expansion and Forest Machinery DLC, we think that it is time to highlight the most important feature extension. |
Having a fan community as great as the one we have brings many benefits. You may have noticed that there's a good number of people on the SCS team who were hired from the community. They ended up working full time on what was once only their favourite game. We're sure that names like 50Keda, SiSL, Mandelsoft, LondonLad, Natvander, Oscar and others are well known to many among you - and every single one of them has brought a unique approach to help our games grow. |
Would you beelieve us if we told you there is more to come? |
With the recent release of Washington for American Truck Simulator, many of you have been actively engaged in sharing your photos and videos, on your journey through this new map expansion. |

As we near the release of our upcoming map expansion for American Truck Simulator, we want to focus on some of the areas that truckers will use most on their travels around Washington and the west coast. |
Come join us in a special Washington stream (on both our Twitch and Steam developer page) featuring gameplay of the new map expansion and special guests who were involved in the making of Washington. They will be guiding you through this new state, hosting giveaways, talking with you in the chats and much more, so make sure to tune in! |
A unique part of Washington that drivers can experience are its renowned logging cliff roads. These dirt roads will certainly test the skill of any driver, as you haul heavy logging equipment, machinery and tree logs up and down these dirt roads. |
We have loved sharing with you our progress on Washington, and with the final touches being made to the map, we are now ready to confirm a date...
With the upcoming release of this map expansion, you will see news, reviews, images, and videos appearing online this coming weekend. With a plan to lift the embargo, the media as well as trusted friends of SCS Software will be able to openly start showing their footage from the map. Additionally, on Thursday the 6th and Saturday the 8th of June we will be hosting a special Washington stream (on both our Twitch and Steam) featuring gameplay of the new map expansion and special guests who were involved in the making of Washington. They will be guiding you through this new state, hosting giveaways, talking with you in the chats and much more, so make sure to tune in from 4pm UTC on Thursday and 5pm UTC on Saturday! Related Washington posts: announcement, urban landmarks, prefab building, logging cliff road, farming, landscapes, Kenworth Renton assembly plant, Everett aerospace factory, Mount St. Helens, bridges, Seattle, Grand Coulee Dam https://store.steampowered.com/app/1015160/American_Truck_Simulator__Washington/ |
On this day in 1942, the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam was completed, after 9 years of construction. |
Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Northwest region of the USA. Becoming the fastest-growing major U.S. city in 2016 with over 3.5 million residents, it is home to some of America's largest businesses. |
A considerable part of the eastern side of Washington has multiple bodies of water flowing around it; with the city of Seattle being surrounded by Lake Washington and Elliot Bay. Looking at a map of the state, this may seem like a logistical nightmare for any driver. To connect towns, cities, and islands, the state has built an impressive amount of Bridges. |
On this day back in 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted in the largest Volcanic event in U.S. history. The devastating effects of this disaster resulted in the loss of over 150 square miles of forest, homes, railways, and roads. |
At any given time there are on average over 9,000 commercial aircraft flying above us in the skies, and it's a good chance that one of those aircraft was built in Washington. Located in Everett you can find the states largest aerospace factory, which can produce up to an impressive 20 commercial aircraft a month. |
Since version 1.34 for American Truck Simulator was more of a maintenance update, we understand how eager you all are for the 1.35 Open Beta - which is finally here!

We would like to thank you all for your massive support on last week's 1.35 Preview Stream for Euro Truck Simulator 2. We are very thrilled to find out that over 25,000 of you have tuned in with us. As promised, we will be doing a similar stream for American Truck Simulator. |
We're happy to announce the upcoming arrival of the official support for Razer Chroma in bothAmerican Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. Starting with the 1.35 Update, our games will support Razer keyboards, mouses and RGB mousemats (headset will use only one colour scheme). Sure, you might think what's the big deal about some "game of lights", but take a look at our video and the list of functions below. Adds a little bit extra to the immersion, doesn't it?
|
You probably noticed that during the last few patches, traffic lights in the American Truck Simulator have had some considerable tweaks. From last year June, our research department started work on this project, but there were a few issues we would need to overcome. One of the main problems was to find a system for US traffic lights in our game, as there are many differences found in every state, region, and cities. MUTCD defines the guidelines for the whole United States, but since every State can adjust it, you see where the problem lies. We agreed to make a compromise and choose those most commonly used (which means 50%+ coverage) to be made and implemented in our game. |
Washingtonstate is home to hundreds of large and well-known industries, amongst which one stands out due to its connection to our game - Kenworth's Truck Plant located in the city of Renton, WA. They have been making trucks in the factory since 1993. With numerous new vehicles rolling off the assembly line each day, it adds a whole new level of immersion to include such an iconic truck-manufacturing facility into our upcoming map expansion forAmerican Truck Simulator. |
Today we'd like to present another appetizerof the approaching update 1.35. Players of both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 can look forward to some (a lot, actually) new tarmac! |
If you have ever had the chance to visit Washington State in the USA, you may have noticed that almost everywhere you go you will see green, even while driving through the city areas. The state is even nicknamed the 'Evergreen State' and has theGreen Darner Dragonfly as their state insect mascot. |
Due to the appearance of mods with sets of our World of Trucks event rewards and Steam inventory items - we feel the need to clarify our policy. |
It's April Fools' Day today, but we did not want to shock you with some sort of unbelievable story. Instead, we chose to make a little light-hearted video as a tribute to the hard work of our testers and to celebrate the moment of the start of the closed beta for update 1.35. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the fan community and the volunteer tester groups. Have fun with the new content, your help is appreciated! |
From bustling cities to evergreen forests, Washington is a diverse state that is home to many significant industries including one of its largest, Agriculture. Each one of the around 40,000 farms require constant attention to keep running; they depend on truck drivers to deliver their materials, machinery and most importantly their produce to export across America and beyond. |
We are working hard on the new Update 1.35 for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. It's shaping up to be one of the biggest updates ever. We plan for an extensive open beta period, but there is still a lot of internal testing and tweaking left to do before we reach that stage. A series of upcoming blog posts will focus on key new features and new content. |
Servicing the logging industry (together with farming industry) will be an important aspect of the in-game economy for the upcoming Washington map expansion. If you are looking for a more challenging drive, you will not only come across beautiful open roadsbut also winding and dusty ones leading through the thick forests of Washington State. The most interesting example of this is the logging cliff road used to transport tonsof logs and wood chips as well as to haul heavy logging machinery. |
One of the challenging tasks with every new map expansion is to come up with new industry depots. Since these are the cornerstone of the in-game economy with direct impact on gameplay overall, their development has come a long way from the same-sized generic prefabs, through landmark-like quality of huge industry areas to modular depots - which you could see for the first time in our recent map expansions of Oregon and Beyond the Baltic Sea. |
Transferring real-world environments into our games universe is always a challenging process. For example, there are many technical and practical limitations which exist, many of which are related to the games' world scale of 1:20. To help us create an immersive experience that allows players to drive in the most realistic environment possible, we use several development tricks; one of these techniques is creating and placing distinctive landmarks in addition to local architecture, which can be natural or man-made structures. |
The Steam Awards 2018 are over and the results have been revealed. Earlier this year, it was a nice surprise to see that we had made the first round of voting. Euro Truck Simulator 2 was nominated for the Most Fun with a Machine category, among so many other fantastic and popular titles and developers nominated. We know this wasn't possible without our devoted community. |
After the content-loaded updates from previous months, 1.34 is a relatively small maintenance update serving primarily to introduce new content prepared by our vehicle department. The next big things planned need more time in development, and we anticipate 1.35 to be a lot juicier. Still, we believe these new additions will please players of both of our games. The limited scope of this update is also thereason why there wasn't an Open Beta. So what do we have for you?
Euro Truck Simulator 2 got a new update too, read about it here. https://steamcommunity.com/games/227300/announcements/detail/1752366427087458465 Mod alert As with any update, due to the changes, a numberof mods may need some work to catch up! |
The New Lunar Year is knocking on the door. The time of festivities is here and we're celebrating it with you in our own special way. We have updated theChinese Paint Job Packfor Euro Truck Simulator 2 with a brand new Year of the Pig cabin paint job! This is thesecond free addition to this DLC which follows the Year of the Dog theme from last year. |
American Truck Simulator celebrates three years this upcoming weekend, which we have decided to commemorate with a special stream (and maybe something else which we'll reveal in this stream) focused on its history and development progress. Unlike other streams, this will be focused solely on ATS - and we offer you a chance to participate in it! There's a topic on our forum where you can submit your questions related to the history of American Truck Simulator, from its very beginning to this day. |
In a recent blog post, we have teased you with a batch of screenshots from an upcoming map expansion for American Truck Simulator. At the same time, we promised an official confirmation of the State, which most of you have actually managed to recognize very fast. This was very satisfactory for us, as it's a validation of our effort to bring our virtual worlds closer to the real world. |
A new year has started and it's time to plan a new season of our travel calendar. We would like to be even more active in traveling the world and visiting gaming and transportation industry expos and events. Ever since we built our custom SCS Sim Trailer, the impact factor that we can deliver on the various shows has grown massively! Being on the road allows us to meet many of you from our community and cross paths with a wide range of industry representatives which can lead to new and exciting opportunities. |
The holiday season is a time of rest for most people, but for the logistics industry, it is the busiest time of the year. The International Gift Delivery event on World of Trucks saw the community unite to bring much needed assistance to the North Pole and deliver gifts on both sides of Atlantic. |
A New Year brings new release plans, and we believe it's time to start talking about what we're preparing for you in 2019! |

We are really proud that Euro Truck Simulator 2 has been nominated for this year's Steam Awards. We still remember the total surprise when the game was nominated in two categories back in 2016, and the even larger shock when it won the two awards. The competition is always massive, there are so many new great games appearing every year, and so many oldies but goldies still on people's minds. Fortunately, it's obviously also the case with ETS2, and it's truly great to see it nominated for the "Most Fun with a Machine" Award. |
Join us on the Steam developer page or on Twitch - we're talking about the World of Trucks event, about Steam Awards (vote for us in the Most fun with a machine award here), and more. |
It's that time of year again where we sit down and write down lists of presents to send to Santa. Thanks to modern technology at the North Pole, creating gifts and sending them anywhere in the world is easier than ever for Santa's team!
This is also a transcontinental community event. A combined community effort within Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Aim for 1,000,000 deliveries to earn a special reward! You can view community progress here. Rewards: For your personal contribution, you will receive: Euro Truck Simulator 2:
American Truck Simulator:
When the community goal is accomplished everyone will receive:
Bonus:If you manage to complete your personal contribution in both games (12 ETS2 + 12 ATS deliveries), you'll receive a neat, cute and special interior decoration reward to both games. Note: In order to qualify for the community reward, you must complete at least your personal contribution in either of the games. All in-game rewards are tradable and marketable Steam Inventory items. The event will be concluded on January 13th, 23:59 UTC. |
We are happy to release American Truck Simulator Update 1.33 out of open beta! Thanks to everyone who helped us verify the stability of the new features. We kept testing the ATS update a bit longer to make sure that there were no surprises with the new detours feature, and fortunately it looks like the reactions to it are all positive. We'll keep tweaking the feature in upcoming updates, and of course we owe it also to players of Euro Truck Simulator 2 - once we create the relevant new graphics content depicting the blocked roads.
Mod alert Due to the number of changes, most mods will need some work to catch up! |
When there was no announcement of a Beta for American Truck Simulator, some of you were worried that Euro Truck Simulator 2 is getting all the love. It's true that ETS2 acutely needed an update to enable us to release Beyond the Baltic Seamap expansion, but there is more to ATS taking a bit longer out of the gate. Let's check the story below. We are proud to bring you American Truck Simulator Update 1.33 Open Beta, packed with new features!

Since the release of the Oregon map expansion for American Truck Simulator, we have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback, comments, and reviews from our community. Our social media pages have been receiving countless videos, articles, screenshots, 360 degrees pictures and more from the lands of Oregon. We have been sharing some of your posts and images on our own pages and if you follow us, you would have seen some of them. It has been very motivating for the team to see how our community enjoys a brand new map expansion, so keep sharing! |
American Truck Simulator: Oregon is published! |
Today is the day! We are impatiently counting the hours and minutes until the launch of the latest American Truck Simulator Oregon map expansion.
|
The wait is almost over. Our American Truck Simulator map design team is putting finishing touches on the Oregon map expansion. We are ready to confirm its release date now... |
Let us bridge the time until the release of ATS Oregon DLC by a post showing some of the bridges featured in the map expansion. Thanks to a plentiful amount of rivers in Oregon, our DLC will also contain a considerable number of bridges. We've just shown some major bridges while introducing Portland, but there are way more of them scattered around the state! |
It's on! We have taken quite a while with the open beta - testing and tuning the new version was a very extensive task, as this is one of the biggest game updates we have ever produced. The reactions from the volunteer testers are very enthusiastic, and we are eager for the player-base to enjoy all the new features as well now.

MOD ALERT: Completely redesigned trailer-cargo logic (cargo data, trailer data, economy, etc.). Most mods will need some work to catch up! To enjoy the 1.32 update, make sure to OPT OUT of beta branches and your game will be automatically updated on Steam. On the other hand, if you are a heavy mod user and believe that the mods in your mix are still not up to date for 1.32, you may consider switching to 1.31 branch on Steam to continue playing the game with all the mods, while the mod authors catch up to the new features in the game. Enjoy! And keep your eyes open for the rest of today, we still have great news for you! ;) |
We are getting ready for a really exciting week ahead. Many things need to fall into place just right, we are stretched quite thin to pull it all off, but the outlook is positive, so keep your fingers crossed.
|
Our work on the Oregon map expansion DLC for American Truck Simulator is almost complete. The dev team is confident that they will reach the finish line in a couple of weeks. We are therefore ready to announce a little more specific info about the release.
To keep you engaged and entertained, we plan to keep revealing more pictures and insights from Oregon's development right until the release. Don't forget to watch our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram so you do not miss anything. You may also consider the advice below to get a notification straight from Steam the moment the DLC is available! We keep updating the project's Steam page too, to make sure the pictures there are the best we can pick. |
There is no way to leave out Portland if you want to portray Oregon properly. It’s the biggest city in the state, the core of a populated region and a very important transport hub. There is a big harbor there and lots of industry. All that should be reflected in American Truck Simulator, not just in appearance, but also in the game's economy. |
The open beta of American Truck Simulator update 1.32 is available now, bringing most of the additions ETS2 received a week ago plus some ATS specific bonuses.

Two winters ago, as a prize for completing the Christmas Grand Gift Delivery 2016 event, we have rewarded the participants with a time-exclusive content in the form of two pieces of DLC; one for American Truck Simulator and one for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The content of each pack is unique and can be obtained on its own, but we know that there is quite an overlap of ETS2 and ATS player base, so we felt that many people may appreciate a cheaper way to purchase both DLC at the same time. We have created the Dragon Design Bundle with a nice discount to make it possible, so make sure to check it first if this catches your interest. Dragon Truck Design Pack Content: [i]You Are A Dragon Be A Dragon! |
Some hints about an upcoming major new feature of our truck sim games have already been spotted by the fan community, and it's time to finally start talking about it openly. Trailer ownership has been requested for years, and it's coming at last, as a major part of the upcoming 1.32 update both for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. |
Players of American Truck Simulator can finally enjoy driving the full length of US Highway 1 again. Thanks to the heroic effort of the truck sim fan community during Operation Big Sur, the landslide was cleared up in record time and the new stretch of the road is ready for you. |
As our games mature and as our team grows to be able to focus on multiple projects and features of our games, we also pay more attention to the production chains and local industries within the game world. It is actually not a small task to bring in enough new types of cargo and facilities to populate the economy enough to achieve variety as well as to keep healthy supply and demand balance. We take it as a longer-term ambition, but the goal is definitely for our deliveries to make more sense in players' eyes - we will be gradually moving away from the concept of random cargoes headed from a generic point A to a generic point B. |
Operation Big Sur, our first World of Trucks event with a shared goal for the player community, has been a huge success. Players of American Truck Simulator have exceeded the number of 500,000 deliveries required to clear up and re-open the section of California Highway 1 blocked by last year's landslide at an incredible speed. We are happy to confirm that the bulk of the work is complete now, and after a short inspection by the authorities, the road will reopen soon! |
Just as we did with the videos of revisiting northern Germany in ETS2, today we'd like to bring you also the in-game footage of Oregon, which we've shown during our second live developer stream on Steam last week. (If you would like to watch the recording of the whole stream you can do it here.) |
Join us for our second stream tomorrow! We'll concentrate on American Truck Simulator, discuss #OperationBigSur, and show you some in-development stuff. |
Operation Big Sur Starting! Here we are with a World of Trucks event dedicated solely to American Truck Simulator! The most recent "Start Your Engines!" event related to our association with the FIA ETRC 2018 season roadshow attracted a lot of interest among the players. We were happy to see so many of you taking part in it, and we have high expectations again for our very first community event with a shared goal. |
Your reception of the recent events has inspired us to try something new. We are planning a new event, this time taking place in the world of American Truck Simulator, with a common shared goal for the community. |
Welcome to the next episode of our popular series, revealing details of the upcoming Oregon map expansion for American Truck Simulator. Today we will focus on natural surroundings. Our interpretation of the natural beauty of the states is an essential part of our development focus. |
We are happy to give you official new updates for both our flagship truck sims, at last. Testing of this update wave took us longer than we had hoped, both internal tests and the open beta revealed a lot of areas requiring our attention before we could call the update done. There's quite a lot of new content and functionality for both games there, and we have run into some unexpected problems when things refused to work together.

Recently, we've shown you places you can see on your drives across the ATS Oregon DLC. Today we will bring you a visual appetizer of the places where you can stop, refuel your truck, relax for awhile, or stay overnight before continuing your long journey. There are some quite notorious truck stops in development... |
From time to time, we like to revisit a region already covered in our games, and change things around, or add a new route. You can look forward to such retouches appearing especially in Europe later this year ;). For today, we would like to show you a new route that we are adding to American Truck Simulator's California. |
A new map region usually means, among other things, some new industries inspired by typical real facilities identified by our location scouts. Today we want to share a few work-in-progress images from American Truck Simulator: Oregon map expansion development. They are depicting one of the new industrial prefabs we're working on: a shipyard. |
We have received a lot of positive feedback to our recently-released ETS2 Special Transport DLC. We continue to work on it - more routes are coming as well as various subtle code improvements. Meanwhile, we are bombarded with questions about a comparable expansion for American Truck Simulator, and we feel that we should not keep you completely in the dark. We are happy to confirm that ATS will also receive its own oversize loads! |
It's been two years since the release of American Truck Simulator. These were very hectic and demanding times for our development team but gave us all a lot of joy, too. Over the development of the game, the dedicated ATS team size has grown from the starting brave four to almost forty people at this moment. And we keep on growing, as we are acutely aware that we need to produce more content and more features at a quicker pace. |
The Grand Gift Delivery event has ended and after our summarizations, it is clear that you did it! You helped save Christmas once again! Where would Santa be without all your effort? Well, probably somewhere at the North Pole, but totally exhausted and still sorting through a pile of undelivered gifts. |
It’s only been a few weeks since our last release, but many of you are wondering and guessing, what does the future hold? What are we doing now? When will we add something new to our games? |
In the frenzy of releases at the end of last year, we have not managed to sync the codebases of American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 to the same revision. With multiple builds of games and DLC to pass through QA, we did not have enough testing capacity to dedicate to this update. The 1.29 revision was solid and working, and we didn't want to risk releasing a new build just a day or two before starting our whole-company vacation, only to find out that a hotfix is needed immediately. It was deemed safer to live with known little glitches for a few weeks rather than to risk introducing an unknown game-breaking bug.

Landmarks both natural and manmade are the pinnacles of our efforts to make our players believe they're really "there." Their unique appearance often brings, as in the real world, a wow factor. While working on the New Mexico DLC for American Truck Simulator, we thought it would be fun to include the city of Roswell, the site of the famed "Roswell Incident." Fortunately, it made sense to include it as a node in our road network layout. |
We are working hard on addressing the remaining known issues before we can start the Open Beta process for the next major updates for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. We thought that you may be interested in learning about one little visual improvement that we are planning to introduce as a part of the update... |
A lot of fans have reminded us that the release of the Heavy Cargo DLC packs for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator respectively would make a nice opportunity to introduce some new Steam Achievements for the games. |
The engine is roaring. The town is behind me now, miles of the road stretch into the distance ahead of me. And all around there is just pristine nature. Land of Enchantment is New Mexico's nickname, and we are doing our best have it reflected in our new DLC. |
Simulation of suspension and weight distribution |
Looks like 2017 is going to be a very exciting year for truck sim fans. Today we are here to announce the release of Heavy Cargo DLC for American Truck Simulator!
All of these cargoes range in weight from 55, 000 lbs to 123, 000 lbs (25 - 56 metric tons), so there is plenty of work to be done if you want to get them to their destination. Trailers If you are wondering why these trailers look very different from the ones used in Europe, look up Federal Bridge Gross Weight Formula. The trailers tend to be quite long and multi-pivoted for a good reason. Let's familiarize ourselves with each part. The first part which is the closest to the tractor is called the jeep and it is connected to the truck via the normal fifth wheel. The second part is called the lowboy and that's where the cargo is placed. It's either in the middle or it's the last part, depending on the configuration. The third part is semi-optional in relation to the cargo that is transported. It's called the spreader (or the stinger or the axle booster as it is called sometimes) and as the name suggests, it is there to spread the weight of the cargo across more axles and greater length. All three have their own pivot point which makes backing really entertaining and actually generally not advisable. Our Heavy Cargo Pack comes with a mix of 2-part and 3-part (with spreader/stinger) configuration trailers, chosen to suit each particular cargo. New engines We have recently added new engine variants (with real behavior) to the game and we feel that this is the right time to remind you of that. All trucks now have a 600 hp engine option available and some trucks even have a stronger engine to choose from. There are of course still lower power engines available too - very sensible and economical choices for most transportation scenarios. See you on the road! We're still receiving really great pictures of gaming setups and places from our fellow truck simmers and we'd like to share another batch of these photos with the rest of our fanbase. It's so motivating to see that our work can inspire some of the players to spend considerable time and effort to build so elaborate setups for virtual trucking! |
We are always thinking of opportunities to make our tech more flexible, to help us bring the "touch of real trucking spirit" into our virtual worlds. Besides driving, the places to stop and rest are an integral part of a driver's life. We have decided that they deserve our focus now as we work on New Mexico DLC for American Truck Simulator. |
Today we have an announcement that should make many of our fans happy. After quite some years of internal discussions and frankly some frustrations and struggles to have the gameplay as well as technical side of multi-trailer physics support ironed out, we finally feel ready to reveal fresh info about our progress on doubles. |
We are excited about our progress on New Mexico map DLC expansion for American Truck Simulator. It is still going to take us some time to wrap the work up and polish it for release, but we feel that we are ready to gradually start showing you new cool stuff from New Mexico. |
After revealing our plans for Heavy Cargo for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we have noticed some American Truck Simulator players worrying if we are not forgetting about them. |
We're trying to discover even the smallest details about the new areas we're working on. We don't hesitate to go down the roads less traveled. Our researchers are digging hard, maybe too hard and too deep this time!? |
We have been spending considerable time during the recent year fine-tuning truck & trailer physics and improving power train simulation. We feel more and more confident now that we'll be soon ready to share the results of this development with you. |
The wait for the final version of the 1.6 update for American Truck Simulator and 1.27 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is over! We want to thank all of you who contributed to our open beta test with bug reports, feedback, and suggestions. Updates for both games are available via Steam now.

We're almost there to release the open betas of the next wave of updates for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we iron out the last few known glitches so that we are able to release the open betas next week. |
Valentine's Day is almost here! For those romantically inclined among our fans, we wanted to give you a chance to transfer some of Valentine's atmosphere into our games as well. We have prepared two unique collections of themed paint jobs, one for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and the other for American Truck Simulator. Even more, we added a small bonus into each package in the form of a cabin accessory. |
Yesterday was one year anniversary of American Truck Simulator's release. When we started working on the game way back several years ago, it was with a tiny team of five people, and still we were not sure if we can sustain the development. But we persisted, and were rewarded by a very strong launch on the market and a warm reception by the community as well as gaming press. This gave us the confidence to bolster the team and raise our ambition for the scale of the project. |
We were originally planning to wrap up the Grand Gift Delivery event on the first day of the new year, but we now see that many of you would appreciate more time. |
At the very end of the year, Valve announced the winners of the first Steam Awards. And we got the most amazing gift: Euro Truck Simulator 2 is among the winners, in fact receiving both awards that it was nominated for! |
Hello Truckers ! |
Dear Truckers, today we are coming to you with something special and really important. We have received an urgent letter from Santa Claus himself, and oh dear it contained nothing good. In fact, this year's Christmas is in grave danger.
American Truck Simulator:
Game updates 1.26.3 for ETS2 and 1.5.2 for ATS is required for participating in the event. You will not be able to buy this DLC, it has to be earned! Everyone who passes the requirements will get keys of this DLC for both games, even if you don't have one of these games yet. Please, put on your warmest coat, grab some hot chocolate or coffee, and start your engine. We have some work to do! |
It's Christmas time again, and everything around us is being tuned and decorated in colors and motifs related to this special part of the year. Players of Euro Truck Simulator 2 may remember us creating a Christmas-themed paint set last year already, and we have been hearing requests from American Truck Simulator fans that they would like to have a chance to tune their trucks for Xmas, too. So today we are bringing you the American Truck Simulator Christmas Paint Job Pack, containing five exclusive paints for your metal beasts. Here is a few sample screenshots: |
We are happy to announce that our work on the rescale of American Truck Simulator world is finished! Looking back, we see thousands of hours that we have invested into this project over the last six months. Our efforts have produced a result which we’re very proud of; the reworked road network is much closer to reality. We've made another big step on our quest to show the United States as they really are, as they can be seen by truck drivers in real life.

We are ready to show you our progress at the American Truck Simulator map rescale project! |
|
Last week, SCS participated in Game Developers Session 2016. This is a local game developer scene event similar to GDC, with two days of presentations and a small expo area to show games. It's a chance for companies in the Czech Republic and in Central Europe to discuss their projects and visions with fellow colleagues from other game dev companies and also to interact with people who want to break into games industry. |
Let's start with a little teaser. Project Rescale of the American Truck Simulator world is looking great, and it won't take long before you can see it for yourselves. I suggest you get comfortable with what we have for you today so you are ready for the updated map. Because believe me, with the bigger map you will need a comfortable ride to get across it without developing serious back pain. ;) |
TL;DR: Free Halloween Paint Jobs Pack key here! |
The life of a game developer is not all just about basking in the glow of a computer screen. We need to get out too - to perform "business networking" - and it's especially true in case of SCS Software, as we need to establish and maintain contacts not just within the games industry, but also in the huge universe of transportation and logistics. |
The following text is a guest blog post that we are bringing you on behalf of Truckers.FM. The phenomenon of fan community radio stations is something very special to our truck simulators, and we think it's worth wider recognition. Good luck in year two! |
Greetings Truckers from all corners of the world ! Some discussions were made here at SCS Software and we have decided that we would like to do, from time to time, some special and dedicated blog-posts for all of you who ever wondered how things are going behind the scenes of our games. We are not able to promise how often these articles will be released and neither can we tell which topic will be the next one, but we think that they will shed more light into your minds about who we are, how we are doing things and so on. We all hope that you will like these articles and we are also looking forward to your opinions which you can, as always, leave in comments section below. |

TL;DR summary: We've released a new DLC and you can get it for free! |
We are releasing a hotfix for American Truck Simulator to address reports of crashes from users running mods containing in-cabin physics-enabled toys. As ATS doesn't have any customizable physics-enabled cabin content in the standard game, the appropriate code support was not fully enabled in the game's codebase. However a partial code path was still working with the data, causing an abort and crashing the game. If you were not using any cabin tuning mod, you were not affected. |
We are happy to announce that the final version of the 1.4 update for

It's high time for the next batch of screenshots from the ATS Map Rescale project! We are very happy with our progress on the project. We're finishing work faster than we initially anticipated. It is safe to say we're pretty far along overall, but there are still a few areas where we are still working on the first iteration of the redesign - so don't start holding your breath quite yet. |
The Open Beta for American Truck Simulator's and Euro Truck Simulator 2's upcoming updates is already in full swing. We'd like to thank you all for the feedback and bug reports you've given us! |
We're happy to announce that the open beta of update 1.4 for American Truck Simulator is now available on Steam!

Adjustable steering wheels are not the only in-cabin feature we are going to include in the upcoming update coming for ETS2 and ATS. We are also going to deliver two new features: |
Since announcing the ATS map rescale project, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback. It was a confirmation that rescaling the map was the right decision - thank you for your encouragement! |
In both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, players already have the option to modify their interior camera viewpoint by adjusting the seat position, changing head position and modifying the view angle. In earlier game updates, we've also made the in-cabin camera more lifelike by simulating steering and blinker camera rotation as well as physical camera movement. But we still felt the job wasn't done, so now it's time to go one step further in order to fully simulate the range of possible adjustments you could make in real life. |
We have finally managed to create a short video from the second leg of our trip to the USA this spring. |
If you follow our blog or SCS Software's Twitter closely, you may remember that back in April we mentioned that a bunch of guys from SCS Software were going to visit the Mid-America Trucking Show in Luisville, Kentucky. |
We're very excited to make a big announcement, but first we need to give you a little backstory. Back when we were beginning research work on American Truck Simulator, just a few months after the release of Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software was a team of about 20 people. We made, and kept, a commitment to actively support and expand ETS2, so the core team on the ATS project at thatpoint was just a handful of developers. We hoped that some day the team would grow to be a modest 8-10 people large. They were facing a monumental challenge in trying to portray the continent of North America on a reasonable scale within a feasible time frame.
This compares the size of California, Nevada and Arizona before the rescale and after it The new scale is equivalent to that of Euro Truck Simulator 2, so the flow of time in both games will be the same. There is also more room now to go back and improve some of the places that were compromised due to the limited scale and replace them with more realistic depictions. The benefits are clear - you're going to get a free "take 2" on the West-coast states that you already have in the game, and roomier game world for future expansions. In addition, this expansion will come with new road segments to explore and updated technology for the old roads. There is one thing that we need from you though - patience. It will take several months to re-scale the existing world before we can move on to building completely new areas and DLC. The map designers are in fact hard at work already on the re-scaling project. To help reduce the turn around time of new state DLC during this renovation, a large part of the 3D assets team is working on vegetation, buildings, landmarks, and any new prefabs we need for new state DLC. And in the middle of all of this, our hope is to grow the company enough to have two map designer teams working in parallel on growing North America both Northward and Eastward at the same time. Map showing the road segments which will be added during the rescale process. We are very excited for this expansion and feel strongly that it is in everyone's best interest. You get more compatibility, new content, and better modding technology for free, and we get the space to expand the North American continent into the truly majestic landscape that it is. This is the right step to take for the health of the game and its community in the long term - two, three, even five years into the future. We hope that enough of our fans will have the patience to stay with us. It's your continued support that makes our games what they are, and what we do worth doing. We love to be surprised by cool things happening in the truck sim fan community. After blazing through their Kicstarter for SKRS 18 Speed USB Shift Knob, Cory & gang at CSIO Technologies have built a company around a unique business plan - offering high-quality custom hardware tailored for the specific need of truck simulator games. The upcoming open betas for the new game updates of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are coming with a new feature: advanced trailer coupling. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and a video can show even more, so let's take a look at it first: |
We are hard at work putting finishing touches on Arizona DLC for American Truck Simulator now. Very soon we should enter first a closed beta and hopefully soon after an open beta phase. |
|
Arizona is not just more of the same. Our work on California and Nevada started well over two years ago, and even though we kept polishing the game all through the development cycle, the map design process and the roads were largely based on our older generation of tools and prefabs. Meanwhile, our tool-chain has matured considerably with the ETS2 team's work on Scandinavia and Vive la France, and for Arizona, the ATS team is using the power of the new modular system to put the road network together. |
Arizona has got its nickname The Grand Canyon State thanks to the magnificent steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River. This wonder of nature is playing a very large role for the local tourism with some five million tourists each year, while it just happens to be an obstacle for the transportation industry. But we have been working hard to portray it in a very visible way in American Truck Simulator, inventing some new tricks along the way. |
In 1998, two guys have started an innocent webcomic focused on video games and the games culture. Fast forward to 2016, and Penny Arcade is a massive cultural phenomenon of its own. It is spawning four huge gaming expos every year, and here we are, showing American Truck Simulator at PAX East in Boston, MA. |
Hot on the heels of the recent game updates for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, we are bringing you a new batch of optional content building on the new wheel tuning functionality. |

The open beta of the ETS2 update has been live for two days. We want to thank all of you who’ve already participated and given us feedback! It means it’s high time for the ATS beta! Update 1.2 for American Truck Simulator is entering Open Beta on Steam today.
SCS Workshop Uploader app Modding our games through Steam Workshop will require use of a dedicated tool for mod makers; a new dedicated Steam application - SCS Workshop Uploader. You can grab it from your Steam library under Tools category. We have also prepared a Wiki with full SCS Steam Workshop Uploader documentation and modding tutorials where you can find guidance how to use our tools for mod creation. Please note that at the moment we do not include support for map mods in the Uploader, this will come later but it requires more work on sanitization of all the data making up the map. Ultimate Wheel Customization As previewed in one of our previous announcements, we have expanded wheel customization options to match real-world customization flexibility. Wheels now consist of a tyre, a disk, nuts, a hub and a hub cover, and you can choose and tune each of them separately. We have recreated the old wheels in the game from these building blocks, but you can mix and match them freely now to get many more combinations. We have also tweaked the materials to bring you alu-disks which are the most regular type of disks used.
