Devlog #018 | Roadmap Q1

Hello everyone, we are excited to share that we have officially completed the first quarter of our roadmap. As promised, we focused on three major areas for Q1: full controller support, quality of life improvements, and accessibility features.
Below, you will find a summary of what has been delivered, along with a brief look at some past patch notes for anyone who might have missed them.

Full Controller Support

You can now fully navigate and play Hired 2 Die using a gamepad: We have also added an official Steam Deck controller profile, ensuring smoother gameplay on the device

Quality of Life Improvements

You can see and join rooms from any region, making it easier to find matches and play with friends:
We have continued to revamp certain areas of the maps for better visual clarity and narrative cohesion:
As mentioned in earlier patch notes, we improved the visuals of the Control Room and Zone A in "A Simple Job" map.

Various bug fixes and balancing tweaks have been applied. For example:

  • Fixed the condition to earn the achievements "Burn in Hell!", "DOWN!", and "Office Party Photos"
  • Fixed an issue where players could become stuck after dying right when the generator puzzle
  • We addressed several cases where players might get trapped inside a bathroom stall, the Egoshade cabinet, or other parts of the environment
  • We removed the first row of lockers in A Simple Job to improve movement in that area
  • Interaction times for many objectives have been reduced to streamline the overall flow
  • Magic Eye notices chain sounds from farther away
  • The difference between Anomalies and Distortions is now clearer when using the anomaly camera
The anomaly camera now processes photos faster:

Accessibility Features

We have introduced a dedicated Accessibility Menu with multiple categories:
  • Toggle options for sprinting, crouching, and general actions
  • Game speed multiplier for solo play
  • Delay settings for repeated button presses
  • HUD objective markers:

  • Option to remove jumpscares
  • Sound filters and adjustable blood settings
  • Colorblindness filters:

  • Contrast adjustments
  • Subtitle and Reticle size customization
  • Speaker names in subtitles
  • Speech to text and translation settings
  • Microphone sensitivity adjustments

And More

THIS IS A BIG ONE We have reworked the puddle-cleaning interaction, adding new animations and effects:
  • We added a new option in the pause menu to leave or close a lobby
  • Antialiasing quality can now be adjusted
  • The walkie-talkie voice filter is less harsh
  • Minor text adjustments have been made in the manual and certain in-game emails to clarify instructions
  • In previous updates, we also introduced CPU optimizations across multiple stages, improved the female playable character model, added a Back to Main Menu button, and updated the Unity editor version for better stability

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...

Steam has officially approved Community Items for Hired 2 Die. That means you can now earn and collect Steam Badges, Trading Cards, Backgrounds, and Emoticons just by playing the game. There are six different badges to unlock, five unique trading cards to collect and craft, three new profile backgrounds to customize your Steam profile, and five exclusive emoticons to use in chats. If you've already played Hired 2 Die, you might find that some of these items have already been added to your Steam inventory based on your playtime. So go ahead and check your inventory:
We hope these changes make Hired 2 Die more enjoyable for everyone. Finishing Q1 of our roadmap is a big step, but we are not stopping here. We are already planning the next phase of improvements and features for the coming months. As always, we appreciate your feedback, so let us know what you think of these updates. Thank you for your support, and we will see you on your next shift. Stay safe, and good luck surviving. Hired 2 Die Gets Brazillian voice acting

The official Brazilian Portuguese voice-over is now available, bringing even more immersion to players. For the voice of the Announcer, we brought in the talented Vanessa Angelo, who did an outstanding job, and for the enigmatic Ringmaster, we secured a big name: Carlinhos Silveira, one of Brazils greatest voice actors. If his name sounds familiar, its no coincidence. Carlinhos Silveira is the voice behind iconic characters such as Shaka of Virgo (Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac), Gollum (The Lord of the Rings), Oh Il-Nam (Squid Game), as well as Zeff and Dr. Hogback (One Piece). Now, he brings all his expertise to make the Ringmaster an even more terrifying villain. To celebrate this exciting news, during Steams Autumn Sale, Hired 2 Die will be 20% off. If you havent been hired by the Intersection yet, this is your chance to grab the game at a special price.

Devlog #016 | Final Touches

As we near the end of the development of Hired 2 Die, were thrilled to share some of the exciting final touches and polish were adding to the game. Lets dive right in!

Traps and the Ringmasters Influence

The Ringmaster has prepared the stage for his final act, introducing new stationary traps to his casino. Among these are exhaust vents, consumed by mold, which release poisonous gas in desperate bursts at anyone lingering beneath them.
Be mindful of the moldbreathe in too much, and
Youll be snared in his strings forever!

Cutscenes and Lore

Weve completed the last of the games cutscenes! These include mid-contract events that immerse you further into the action, as well as concluding scenes that tie together the hard work youve poured into the Hunt contracts.
Sometimes, the credits arent the end. Weve also polished the games lore, enriching the story of Intersection its intrigues and the distortions they house.
Cant you understand its perfection?
Whats that? Oh well, back to work

Hunt Contracts

Weve finalized the balance for the Hunt contracts, making them the ultimate test of everything youve learned throughout the game. These missions push your skills, strategies, and perks to their limits, culminating in an explosive and satisfying payoff.
Lets blow this damned place up.
That was REALLY close.

A Big Thank You!

There is a thin line between our perception of reality and reality itself. In a strange twist, the perception of ordinary human beings is corrupting reality, creating beings known as Distortions. These Distortions commonly appear in places where the human psyche is at its breaking point, and the stress generated by this phenomenon manifests as strange objects and dangerous creatures. A long-term, mysterious company named Intersection claims to have the solution. By selecting a few individuals capable of perceiving and dealing with Distortions, they can keep the threat to a minimum.

PLAN YOUR STEPS

Never go blindly into the darkness. Take your time to plan each step, understand the map, and gather every item you might need. Each objective is in a different room, so use the security systems to open the doors and turn on the lights in the rooms you need, but be careful with energy usage. Using the Proximity Voice Chat, you can talk freely with your partner and make the best strategy.

ACCESS SECURITY FOOTAGE OF CCTV CAMERAS

Access the footage of several security cameras spread over the level using the security computer in the main room. From there, you can check if a route is free from danger or locate anomalies to capture later. If a creature is lurking in places you want to go, you can use the sound system to lure them to another location. When playing with a friend, you can also guide them to the desired place in safety.

COMPLETE SIMPLE TASKS OR FIX COMPLEX SYSTEMS

The Distortions attach themselves to objects that have caused distress to someone. Depending on the difficulty of the contract you accept, you will have to do simple tasks like organizing boxes or complex ones like fixing electrical systems that will require advanced information. Don't worry! Intersection always sends a manual explaining how to do your job.

BUY NEW EQUIPMENT

Equip yourself with the best items in the store and be prepared for more dangerous jobs and creatures. Sometimes it's best to have an extra plier or a more potent flashlight just in case.

Features

  • Single and coop play: The game is designed differently for single-player adventurers or teams that want to die together.

  • Multiple difficulty levels: Choose the mission that better suits your skills or items at the moment.

  • Progressive Gameplay: Even the most ordinary task will help you in future missions.

  • Hunt: Not all horror games give you the task of hunting the evil creature.
