Sven (greenpixels) here.\nI\'m the programmer for Gamblers Table and one of the two people that work on Gamblers Table.\n\nFirst of all, thank you so much for using the feedback form to such an extend. We\'re blown away. Almost 700 of you shared their opinions, suggestions and ideas. And its super interesting to read them all.

\"Woah, a ton of you have played the demo! And even 25% percent say they completed it, which is bonkers! The reason we included the question about the demo is because we wanted to know whether the people that played the demo are more negatively positioned towards the release than the ones that haven\'t played it - and that does seem to be the case.

We have understood that especially for these of you, the release of Gamblers Table felt underwhelming. When we developed the game and had people play test it, we genuinely thought the additions we made were fun and plenty for a release.

We spent a lot of time thinking about synergies between skills and created polished assets in order to have a visual and meaningful change to game play rather than just a flat number increases. We wanted Gamblers Table to have builds and strategy, but also present the skills in a visually appealing way.

Oxidized coins, visitors, rockets, muscle helpers, burning cursors, intense auras, the thief and more - all of which have distinct visuals. But in retro perspective, we of course understand that by having fewer skills, even when they are more visually polished, the interval between skill points ended up much too long, which does not very much align with the spirit of typical incremental games and makes it feel too long and grindy. (Except when you played oxidized copper coins when it was still 10.000x, but we don\'t talk about that here - whoops)\"

\"This graph (and most of the feedback) indicates that the game was too short - but ... also too long for a lot. And I think the graph being so split is displaying one of the biggest issues of Gamblers Table as most of you have correctly pointed out.

Gamblers Table is trying to be both an incremental game, but also an idle game - which is super challenging in terms of balancing. The people that are used to idle games expected way, waaaay, waaaaaaaaay more play time - we had several answers where people had the game running for 60 hours and then told us the game was too short. But we also had a lot of people play for 4 hours, saying that the skills are way too far apart and the game ends up too long.

We\'re still actively talking about how to best remedy this, but we do have some ideas - and you added tons of great ideas aswell. Thanks!\"\n

Not about the little amount of negative reviews in the form - that was expected due to survivor bias - but rather about the amount of people that haven\'t left a review at all. I was super pouty at first, but then my wife looked me straight in the face and said \"When was the last time YOU left a review on Amazon or anything like that?\" ... And yeah ... She is right.

Wanting to have your game reviewed is just a natural thing as a game developer on Steam I suppose. But this feedback form was a reality check and made perfectly clear that most people likely won\'t - and that it\'s totally normal and fine!\"

Changes:

  • \"Guided Launch\" can now trigger Thief and Visitors, which should improve the idle experience and balance out the discrepancy between active gameplay and idle gameplay just a little. Whether thief is triggered by rocket can be configured in your Tactics tab.

  • Your tactic configurations in the Tactics tabs will now be persisted and remain across restarts and sacrifices. You no longer have to readjust everything on startup. This one seems so obvious it almost hurts, sorry about that.

  • Reduced Oxidation to 1000x. Yes we know, it has almost gotten to the point of an inside joke that we keep reducing it ... candywhat And we know that just reducing it is not the perfect solution. Its just the quickest solution for now while we are back at the drawing board.

  • Changed the description of \"Missile\" so it no longer mentions \"Helper\", as Missiles are not affected by Community or other buffs related to Helper. After all, does it really look like the helper on top of it is in control of that situation?

  • The game cursor no longer moves while the game window is not focused.

  • Connected game pad controllers no longer move your actual computer mouse cursor while the game is not focused.

Its over 9000 (Gamblers)!

Hello everyone! Gamblers Table just hit over 9000 concurrent players, which is ... just incredible. Thank you so much for playing our game and sharing all your feedback, kind words and ideas with us!

At the moment, we are trying to fix all sorts of little problems and bugs that you guys encountered and reported. Here is a quick overview of some of the latest changes:

  • We uploaded a first balance patch that adjusted some overpowered builds (oxidation) and buffed the weaker ones

  • The Visitor now has a prominent effect around it to make him much easier to spot on a cluttered screen

  • Fixed a problem that prevented some achievements from being unlocked

    [/*]
  • Fixed silver coins not being triggered by platinum coins

    [/*]
  • Fixed a game crashing bug

    [/*]
  • Advanced audio settings are coming in an upcoming patch as well, so you can specifically reduce the sound of coins

  • Right now, we are focused on fixing an issue regarding cloud saving that can lead to save files being lost. We have already contacted the Steam Support and are waiting on their response. If you are affected by this, please contact me privately and I\'ll recreate your save file to the best of my abilities. We are incredibly sorry about this!

Besides that, we are collecting all your suggestions for new features, quality of life improvements and balance changes and will try to implement as many as possible. Please keep them coming!

Gamblers Table is out now!

Gamblers Table has just released!

We are super thankful to all the feedback, suggestions, bug-reports, ideas, playtesters and demo-players we\'ve gotten over this past exciting year.

In case you already played the demo, you can import your progress but we highly recommend to start a new game because we updated the early-mid game with new skills and you would just skip a lot of that new content by importing your save file.

We believe that a demo should closely resemble the quality of the full game. For that reason we have not only added every single quality of life feature from the main game to the demo version aswell, but also added the new hat machines to the demo version! So you can now already unlock some hats and have your dudes look cool no matter what version you play!

BUT WAIT WAIT, THERE IS EVEN MORE NEWS!

We have also added achievements to the demo version!

AND ALSO - we made sure to integrate your save file from the demo fluently into the full version. If you buy the full version, you can just continue from where you left off (you just have to re-assign the points in your skill tree).

However, please note that [u]we recommend resetting your progress[/u] in the full release nonetheless - to have superior experience of the game. The early game in the full game is significantly different and (in our opinion) way more interesting than in the demo. If you\'ve already grinded up an insane amount of money in the demo you may accidentally skip a lot of fun content from the full game.

  • Question:\nWhy has the game not released yet? || When are you going to release? || Is this ever coming out?

    • Answer:\nWeve been getting a lot of these messages lately, and we totally get why. The demo landed really well, and were super happy about that. From the outside, it might look like we just need to add a few skills and hit release, but there are two big reasons why its taking time.\n\nFirst, Tim and I (Sven) are the only ones working on this game - in our free time. We both have full-time jobs, families, and everything else that comes with life, so the only real time we get to work on Gamblers Table is on weekends. Summing up the hours that we effectively had the chance to work on the game and comparing it with our current progress, I am super proud of where we are. But I absolutely understand that it may not seem like that from the outside.\n\nSecondly, we just don\'t want to add a few filler skills and then be done with it. We want every new skill to feel meaningful, with visual feedback and strategic gameplay. The demo had 9 skill nodes, but the current planned release version has 22 - and they all have depth or even cool visual feedback that comes with it. (See the missile sprite update for an example.)\n\nGamblers Table will most likely not release in 2025, but you can expect some news regarding the release in the upcoming weeks! While it may be frustrating to not have an exact date, we can only ask you to stay patient and believe us when we say that we are aiming to create a game that is worth waiting on.

  • Question:\nWill I be able to keep my progress from the demo?

    • Answer: Yes, you will be able to take the progress you have in the demo into the full release version. We strongly encourage everyone to reset their savefile instead, as to play the final game as we intended. Especially if you have left the demo open for weeks and amassed unimaginable amounts of currency (looking at some people on our discord right now), then it may feel like the release version is short, when in reality you just skipped over all the progress needed. But we won\'t force you and its totally up to you how you want to play the game. But keep in mind that you will have to re-spec your skill tree when you load from one into the other and that the skill point requirements may change between the two, meaning you could have 9 skill points in the demo, but 7 in the release version.

    Capsule Machines

    So the game is called \"Gamblers Table\", but until now we haven\'t had many features that related to that topic. To change that, we have added capsule machines to the game! Of course, these don\'t cost any real money, but instead every time that you flip a coin in Gamblers Table and it lands on SKULL (heads) ... you get a skull token! You can use these skull tokens to operate the capsule machines, which in turn gives you hats for your helpers.

    But not only that! Some hats now also have the chance to come in new variations like GOLDEN and RAINBOW. Those look so cool! But are much, much rarer to obtain.

    This change also means that hats are no longer tied to achievements. The achievements tab has therefore been restructured and looks a little different now.

    Hats Are For Wearing

    So now you have unlocked a new cool hat, but you don\'t have the funds to buy a new helper.

    Previously this meant you couldn\'t see your new hat, as hats are only equipped when you buy a new helper. Now, we have committed a whole new section in your sidebar to your hat collection.

    Select the ones you like, deselect the ones you don\'t and then fire away at the \"Randomize Hats\" button to see your gang rock the new fashion style you chose.

    More UI Improvements

    Via the discord, the steam discussion forums and mails we have gotten a lot of great feedback from the demo. Some of the changes that are rather simple, but still impactful, I\'d like to showcase them to you.

    1) Better Options Menu

    Some people would always click \"Close Game\" instead of \"Back\" when trying to close the options menu. That was due to the fact that they were literally right next to each other (oops) and not really distinguishable at all. Now the \"Back\"-Button is either the X in the top-right corner or literally clicking anywhere outside of the options menu. The \"Close Game\" button is also coloured in red now, making it seem more impactful and harder to accidentally click.

    2) Better Iconography

    Why many words when no words do the trick? Previously every tab in the sidebar was completely written out. This got really overwhelming really fast. We have replaced some text with icons to reduce the text pollution, but also improved upon already existing icons.

    3) Money Per Second

    This has been requested a lot. The non-plus ultra for the min-maxer.

    4) Speaking of Min-Maxing

    In the release version there will be a lot of features that can interact with each other. But what if you don\'t want that? What if you want something to specifically NOT interact so it can be triggered way more often by something else? \"Helper Focus\" was our first step into that direction, but we are introducing way more fine-granular control over other aspects of the game aswell. These let you decided, whether e.g shockwaves should trigger copper coins or whether your cursor can or can not flip gold coins, ... and so on.

    5) Better Tooltips

    Tooltips now use icons whenever possible. In this screenshot we can see that \"Muscular Helper\" now gets a visual representation of what we can expect from that skill and purchasable.

    A Table For You

    You might have already seen some new tables in the screenshots above. Tables can be selected after you sacrificed and they change up your gameplay. With a little strategizing, you can utilize these table effects to dramatically increase your money gain.

    Missile Sprite Update

    Missile is one of my favorite skills in the skill tree. When skilled, it unlocks it as an purchasable in the shop. Having tons of missiles blasting the table looks so cool!

    September Update

    Hey everybody!

    Its been a while since we shared our progress, so we are happy to finally give you an update on what we have been working on!

    First of all, Im proud to show off the current talent tree. We added 10(!) new talents so far, which brings the current total to 19, more than twice the amount of the Demo!

    I dont want to spoil them all already, so you can speculate a bit based on the icons. Lets take a look at only two of the new talents for now.

    The first is one of the most suggested talents from the community, oxidizing copper coins. When you dont interact with copper coins for a while they start to oxidize and then grant bonus money when you ultimately flip them.

    The second one has been super fun to animate and made me laugh a few times^^

    Lastly, we have reached a new milestone: We surpassed 50k Wishlists, mainly due to a huge influx of Japanese players. It seems like a bunch of Japanese influencers discovered Gamblers Table and played it on their channels.     Rethinking UI in Gamblers Table

    Hey there!

    As of until now, I was really displeased with the UI in Gamblers Table. Depending on what language you selected it could happen that text was not properly aligned, overflowed or was down-right impossible to read. Speaking of \"impossible to read\" - on small devices it was just that - impossible to read. Sadly, the engine I am working with has no native functionality to easily scale text at runtime across all UI components. But I was determined to make it happen nonetheless.

    So lets dive right in.

    Accessibility

    Keeping up the momentum from last update I\'ve now worked on more accessibility features.

    Text Scaling

    As I said in the beginning, reading the text on the steam deck, mobile or literally any screen that is not \"Ultra-Wide-Super-Duper-Mega-Big-Screen\"-size was kind of hard. The game now starts with bigger text to begin with and you also have an option to increase it. (or decrease it, if you liked the previous size more)

    Button Size

    Most the buttons in the game have now increased in size by approx. 150%. It was just honestly really hard to click them on smaller devices.

    Better Tabs

    So if you watch the GIF above in \"Text Scaling\" you can see that the tabs in both the option menu and the shop jump into the next line. This was previously not the case. Instead the buttons would just disappear into the void and you had to click an extremely itsy bitsy small \">\"-icon to navigate them.

    This was not an issue for western languages, but especially for languages with a lot of characters that easily surpassed the width of the sidebar itself. This is now fixed.

    Better Explanations

    We received feedback that its not super clear what Sacrificing even does - and some skills could do with better explanations.

    Sacrifing no longer requires you to hold the sacrifice button. Instead, a popup opens explaing what exactly is going to happen. Admittedly this does not look super fancy and requires more polish, but that is something for upcoming updates. Having UI elements that require you to hold them can be an issue for people with motor impairments, muscle weakness, tremors, joint pain, or certain neurological conditions that make sustained pressure hard.

    It wasn\'t quite clear what \"Sticky\" really does and it sounded stronger than it actually was. It now better reflects it actual functionality, as it only triggers on-click and not when a helper, reflip or shockwave flips it.

    There are upgrades?!?

    You\'d be surprised (or maybe not, surprise!) that a lot of players play the game for hours without ever buying a single upgrade. But not on purpse. Apparently it was that easy to miss ... I hope that the text scaling mitigates that issue at least a little. But to be very sure, the sidebar tabs now blink until you click them at least once.

    Speaking of blinking ...

    We\'ve had some feedback regarding the wishlist button in the game. It kept blinking ... and blinking. Which totally distracted a lot of you. Sorry about that.

    That wishlist button (as dumb as this may sound) is extremely important to us. Back when Gamblers Table was only available via Web it got stolen over and over again and being reuploaded to other pages and generated ad revenue for the thieves without us ever knowing.

    Having this wishlist button was our only saving grace, because no matter how often it got stolen - this button always brought anyone playing back to our steam page! And we could see that it worked.

    But having it blink all the time really is a tad excessive. So now it no longer does that and sits quietly and statically in the corner.

    For anyone wanting us to completely remove it:

    Sorry, but wishlists are super, duper important for small games like ours. Amount of wishlists is that magic number that steam uses to determine if you\'re in the charts or being sent to the shadow realm. The final release will of course not have it, but the demo will continue to feature the button. Thank you for understanding.

    UI Changes

    You may have noticed that the sidebar looks a little different now. That is because it underwent some major changes. Lets take a look.

    Drag to arrange

    We\'ve gotten the feedback that some of you would like to see more of the shop, but also some of you wanted to see more of other things. You decide now! You can drag the separator in the sidebar to adjust how much of which you want to see.

    Tactics

    Looking at the GIF above, you can see that there is a new tab \"Tactics\". Before, the \"Helper Focus\" configuration was cramped into the lower sidebar window together with the buffs. The \"Helper Focus\" configuration has now moved into the \"Tactics\" tab instead.

    There is also a new achievement for clicking that bad boy. As we have learned previously - not everyone clicks those! So wear that fish head with pride and joy.

    Shop Item Buttons

    The buttons to buy weren\'t really great. They had their information really cramped and their text didn\'t break that well if it was too long. Now the amount you have is tidied up in the lower right corner.

    Stats Tree

    Okay, so this one is really cool. So many of you wanted a \"X per second\" display. Here it is! I\'ve completly reworked the stats tab and will now show you the money generated by every coin split up into the sources. You also get a cool bar chart to see what performs the best out of the sources!

    Accessibility in Gamblers Table Demo

    Hey there!\nThe demo seems to be doing well. Seeing your discord messages, mails, reviews, blog posts, videos ... it is super exciting and we could not be happier. We\'ve just reached 40.000 wishlists! As a team of just two, we did not expect for things to go the way they\'re currently going. We both truly appreciate it, thank you.

Among some quality of life changes, bug fixes and performance improvements I\'ve also worked on some other things that I\'d love to share with you - so let\'s break it down.

    Accessibility

    Gamblers Table initially only released as a prototype on itch.io back in march. It had no audio settings and the most received feedback was for a way to turn off the sound. Those are settings that normally get prioritized when developing games, so I immediately patched it in.

    But among other feedback we\'ve also gotten a lot of requests regarding the amount of clicking. While \"Quick Flip\" alleviated some issues, players that had genuine wrist problems would still struggle to play the game overall. But for obvious reasons we concentrated on working in more content first.\n\nI myself also struggle with a pained wrist due to a sport incident, so it was a very dear topic to me that I want to eventually extend the options of Gamblers Table by a palette of accessibility options.

    So now I finally got around to add the first set of accessibility options for the game.

    Automatic clicking

    You can toggle an option that automatically flips coins at your cursor every second. For some reason the image is way slower than what it actually looks like, but you get the idea.

    Cursor Size

    In the midst of all the flashy effects (which is a topic for maybe another accessibility option) you sometimes lose track of your cursor. Being able to adjust the size is one of the options in the game.

    Cursor Color

    Following up on the previous point, you can now also adjust the color of your cursor. This also changes the color of the 1-second indicator of the auto-clicker option of you have that enabled.

    These are the first changes that made it into the demo and will also be present in the final release. But why stop there? As mentioned above, reducing the visual explosion fest that Gamblers Table naturally is should also be a toggle. I\'d also love to add an option to increase the text size, but that is an issue that sadly needs a little more effort and will be included in future updates.

    Quality of Life

    As a gamer, the annoying part of playing a demo, prototype or early access game is that often they are missing some key quality of life features that seasoned games already contain. That is just a natural, as the earlier game versions need to flesh out their content first - Gamblers Table not being an exception.

    But now that the demo has launched I was finally able to work in some of your suggestions (pst, join the discord!) and ideas

    Skill Tree meets Drag Movement

    A lot of people were wondering why only the middle mouse button moves the skill tree. And that is a valid question - but no more! Both either holding left click or right click while dragging the mouse now moves the skill tree.

    When are we there?

The skill tree button so far may have shown that you are half-way there toward your next skill tree point, but didn\'t give any further information. Now, hovering the skill tree button tells you how much of what.

    So ... divided by 60 ... is ... and then divided by 60 ... wait how much again? I had the bright idea that the playtime should be displayed as seconds. That just didn\'t make any sense at all. No further explanation needed, its now hours and minutes.

    The demo also contains some hidden customization where you can overwrite the image of your cursor or the tablecloth in the middle, but I\'ll talk more about that when I\'ve added the option to add your own hats into the game.

    I\'d also like to replace the money source information in the info tab with money/sec displays. So instead of accumulating the total value that a gold coin netted you it will instead show the money it netted you in the last X seconds. This should better indicate your progress and the speed at which things are going on.

    Demo release date, 30k club and new features

    Great news! We have been hard at work on the upcoming steam demo and it even has a release date! We will launch the demo next week on the 23rd of July!

    If you have played the prototype version on itch you might wonder what is going to be different in the Steam Demo. We actually overhauled it quite a lot:

    Gamblers Table is coming to Steam!

    Hi everyone,

    We are excited to announce that Gamblers Table will be coming to Steam!

    First, let us give you a quick rundown of who we are and where the idea for Gamblers Table came from. We are Greenpixels and Bossforge, a team of two hobbyist indie devs from Germany. Earlier this year we wanted to work on just a small prototype together and set ourselves a deadline of 3 weeks. Since we are both fans of incremental games the choice of genre was easy and the idea for Gamblers Table was born.

    About 6 weeks ago we published the finished prototype on itch.io. We didnt expect more than a handful of players to try the game but then the game started trending and ended up on #1 of the New&Popular category with thousands of daily players. We have been absolutely overwhelmed by all the great feedback and ideas that we received from all of you, thank you all so much!
    Due to the amazing reception, we are going to turn the prototype into a fully fleshed out Steam game now! Here is a quick rundown of what additional features and changes we have planned for the full version:

    -Significantly longer playtime
    -More coin types
    -Better income statistics
    -Coins that interact with the board in more interesting ways
    -Controlling in which direction a coin flies when flipping it
    -Controlling which types of coins the automation helpers will flip
    -In general, more interactions with the helpers
    -Customization for the helpers (hats)
    -Upgrades that change the table
    -Better sound effects
    -Ascencion/Prestige system
    -Talent tree
    -More clarity about when and how upgrades unlock
    -Achievements
