TheCompendium has been made availableto provide information on key game elements:
The Attributes and Skills tabs are pre-filled with information about the attributes and skills in the game.
The Locations, Creatures, and Factions tabs will populate automatically as your character discovers them.
Note for existing saves: Locations you've already discovered will appear in the compendium upon loading your save file after updating the game, but creatures will not. That data wasn't tracked prior to this update, so all players will start with an empty creature log.
Cities are now safe zones. Creatures in cities now have a minimum morality set to 'neutral', ensuring players wont be attacked in safe areas, unless your character has very low morality, in which case 'righteous' morality creatures (e.g. knights, guards, angels) will still target you.
New Keyboard Shortcut: Press F1 to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode. This can be used to resolve rare cases where the game launches to a black screen in fullscreen.
Level-Up Screen Fixes:
Fixed a bug where base stats were incorrectly displayed on the level-up screen.
Added a Real-Time Stats toggle on the level-up screen to allow you toswitch between viewing your base stats and your current stats (with accessory and temporary bonuses applied).
Mythscroll now supports Linux! A Linux build is available alongside Windows. If youre playing on Linux, Id love to hear your feedback and reports on performance or issues.
This will likely be the final update for the demo, as I shift focus toward completing the full version of Mythscroll for release. Please continue to share your feedback and bug reports; it is still very helpful. Thank you so much to everyone whos played, shared feedback, and helped shape the game so far!
If you havent already, dont forget to join the Discord to follow development and share your thoughts. I will soon be launching another poll to allow players to vote on the next creature added to the game!
A text-based RPG where every choice shapes your story.
In Mythscroll, you’re not just playing a game, you’re creating a legend. Build your character from the ground up, choosing your race, class, and abilities, then set out into a world shaped by your decisions.
Travel through bustling towns, dangerous forests, and ancient ruins. Every step brings new challenges, from turn-based battles to tricky moral choices that affect your reputation. Will you fight for honor, wealth, power, or something else entirely?
Trade with merchants, take on quests, and uncover secrets hidden in the world. With branching encounters, turn-based combat, and plenty of surprises, no two adventures are the same.
Your path is yours to write. Where will it lead?
CUSTOMIZE
Build your character, starting with a D&D inspired character creator menu. Choose your class, race, age, body type, and character traits to determine your starting stats, signature weapon, and known languages.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
As you level up in Mythscroll, you'll earn both attribute points and skill points.
Attribute points let you enhance your core stats like Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence, shaping your character’s physical and magical abilities.
Skill points can be invested into a wide variety of skills, such as Stealth, Nature, Music, and more, and further define how your character performs in and out of combat.
Whether you want to talk your way out of danger, scale cliffs, cast spells, or sneak past enemies, your build choices open up different paths through the world.
MORALITY SYSTEM
There are multiple meaningful choices attached to every encounter in the game. Will you give a lost traveler helpful directions, or will you steer them the wrong way? Will you demand payment for your assistance?
Some decisions negatively impact your character's morality, such as choosing to rob a merchant, or attack a random commoner. If your morality is too low, you'll be at an increased risk of being attacked when encountering some high morality people and creatures, such as knights, guards, and angels.
Other decisions, such as choosing to help someone, completing certain quests, or defeating low morality creatures, can increase your morality. Some quests may require a certain morality level to accept or complete.
80+ CREATURES TO DISCOVER
As you encounter new people and creatures across the world in Mythscroll, you will fill out your compendium. This will help you with future encounters with that type of being, giving you the following important information:

TURN-BASED COMBAT
Choose if and how you want to attack each turn based on what weapons you have equipped and what spells you know. You can change your equipped gear and learn and forget spells mid combat to access different options.
If you do not want to attack you may do one of the following:
Cast a non-attack spell, such as a healing spell or a calming spell (if you know one)
Hold up your shield to block incoming attack (if you have a shield equipped)
Try to escape combat (better chance of successful escape with increased speed stat and/or increased luck stat)
