Game Lore:
Blackfang Corp - a secret, government-backed military unit, running experiments on unique weapons and people in occupied, hidden areas. As tests on mutating spider monster species in the so called Hell Island were handled by underpaid and unmotivated workers, a dozen of spiders have unknowingly escaped the facility. The bugs were growing and multiplying in the forest for months, until they would eventually run out of resources, and begin flooding into the city. The emergency alarms were set on blast as many Blackfang workers escaped. Lacking further resources and desperate for a solution, they select a few prisoners to send on a remotely supervised mission. That's you, you are the odd remedy. What they don't know though, is that you have other plans.
Hello, I've been figuring out a way to make playing solo with randoms better, and this update aims to move towards a solution for this problem with the new "Quick Play" along with other new additions and improvements to the game.
"Sessions" was an experiment that was added to be used as a tool for finding people to play with, but it seems like it didn't work at all and mostly ended up being accidentally created when trying to host a lobby. With that being said, I'm not removing the "Sessions" yet, though it's now been renamed to "Events" and the Create Event button was moved under the "Host" button to avoid confusion.
This update introduces "Quick Play", which can be entered from the Main Menu. The previous "Play" button is now renamed to "Custom Game" and is placed under the new "Quick Play" button. The "Custom Game" menu works the same way it did before.
I wanted to give players more reason to play solo and make it much easier to get into a game with this new mode. Entering "Quick Play" puts you in your own Prison, a place where your progress is saved and combined from the games you play in "Quick Play". Starting the game here puts you in a match-making queue, which will automatically join an active game or create a new one. Another big difference is that the game won't end for everyone if the host disconnects. Keep in mind that "Quick Play" is still early in development, so fixes and changes are to be expected. I'll be looking forward to feedback and I'm curious to see how it goes!
