Patch 1.02

A minor performance update and hopefully a small fix to a rare, but big issue

Additions


Performance Upgrade We have done a little tweaking in hopes of improving the performance specifically in the village. For those interested, according to some analytics, it seems that the main eater of frames in the village are the shadows. With that in mind, we tweaked values and changed settings, and noticed some improvements on our PCs. Since our PCs are pretty high end, we are hopeful, that these changes will improve the FPS for anyone who had bigger issues in the past.

Bug Fixes


Save File Breaking We had an issue, hiding deep inside a single quest, related to a specific kitchen upgrade, that had a missing quest link. We believe this may have been the cause for some people to get a damaged save file. The issue has been very difficult to reproduce, but we are hopeful that this will have taken care of it. That being said, this does not restore save files that have been damage. We hope that anyone experiencing any problems with their save file will communicate this with us. It is very important to us, that Delicious Dungeon is a playable experience without any issues that ruins a play through. Should we hear about more issues related to broken save files, we are considering to create a tool that can fix them. Happy Holidays to everyone that celebrates! Have a wonderful time!

The Original Soundstrack just dropped!

The Delicious Dungeon OST is now live on Steam! Irene Chan made all the music! All the love to her The soundtrack contains all 24 songs used in the game AND on top of that, 2 extra tracks that we (hopefully) use in the future for new bosses. In total it's about 50 minutes of amazing music Hope you guys enjoy it.

Patch 1.01 Notes

Patch 1.01 Some fixes to bugs and issues you guys have found. Thanks for playing and bringing these things to our attention! Bug Fixes Order Deletion Due to a missing check, it was possible to delete orders that you didn't give up to yourself. That is now fixed and you should only be able to delete your own orders. All Dishes Unlockable There was an issue with the second to last dish in the game the dish after the Layer Cake (Lasagna). That is now fixed and you should be able to unlock all 25 dishes in the game. Cook Book Guide Dialogue Almost not a bug, but we fixed the dialogue for the Cook Book Guide. Before, when you talk to him the first time, he shows you with [Unlock Recipe] that you have new recipes to unlock. That went away, once you entered any conversation path. We fixed that and he now always shows the new recipes you can unlock. Translations Lots of translation fixes. Hopefully we got them all this time Keep posting if you find any other missing ones. Botanist Selection The Botanist did not have all the non meat items in the game before. That is now fixed and he will always offer anything you are eligible to loot. Milk and Sugar The drop rate of milk and sugar was wrong. The Demor and Maldemos enemies (the big versions of the Beses and Bosos), were supposed to always drop milk and sugar. Now they do so abundantly.

Beta Playtest Update

It's been a while, but thanks to our hard-working testers we've found a lot of bugs that we've (hopefully) fixed. To test this theory, we have uploaded the new version of our beta build and are ready for more feedback! tl;dr We have tried to fix most of the hard stuck/game breaking bugs, so saving should now work pretty well, but we know there is still a bug with the kitchen helper and the combat tutorial. And now the long list of changes for those who want to read through all of them:

Version 0.02 A note before we get into it. First of all, sorry it took us so long to post. We wanted to be active and instead we got hung up on lots of little things instead of just updating. We want to try to update more regularly. One of the reasons it took so long is because with fixing some issues others ended up becoming more visible. But that should not stop us from giving you guys an updated version of the game, so here we go. Lastly, we added a little known issues list you can find at the end of the change log. New Beta Feature


Export Logs


Added a new feature to export the games logs. This can be very helpful for us, whenever you have an error or a bug. Just press the keyboard combo Alt + E + L (easy to remember as export logs) and the game will create a folder named Logs in your game directory where a text file with a time stamp as its name will be created. You can send these logs to us when you tell us of the issue you found.

Save Files


Major Fix, save files should no longer be corruptible and a save file should always be loadable, no matter what.

UI Input


Fixing some double input that happened at times.

Improved and fixed Drop rate


The Quality of the items dropped had a bug and did not feel quite right beyond that. We rescaled it a little bit so the games beginning would not feel as bad.

Mouse input in UI


We removed any detection of your mouse position in all the UIs. You can still use the mouse as a confirmation button, but what button you hover over will no longer be affecting your selection. Developer Note: We are still committed to improving the general mouse and keyboard input overall. This is just one of the first steps we have been taking.

Reworks and additions


Text and Translation


Major fixing and filling of missing text and translations.

New Lock-On


New and improved Lock on Icon.

UI Polish


Improved and reworked a lot of UI Elements.

Beetle Buff History


You can now see the buffs you already selected for your beetle companion.

Village Life


We added a lot more details to the village to make it feel even cozier and alive.

Tutorials


We added a few more tutorials to some functionality that wasnt entirely clear.

Beetle rescaling


Rescaled the damage of the beetle companion. It was a bit too strong early on and lost strength when you kept progressing. Now it is the other way around, the beetle starts out a little weaker, but becomes a very solid source of damage, if you upgrade him and get find a good buff combination.

More Dialogue


We added a lot more dialogue options for most of the NPCs.

More Audio FX


We added a lot more audio feedback all over the place (more is still to come).

Keyboard and Mouse Heat-Meter


Added keyboard and mouse controls for the Heat-Meter in the kitchen.

Known Issues


Kitchen Chef Stuck


The Kitchen Chef can get you stuck when you talk to her. We have not been able to reproduce this issue consistently, so any input on the issue will be feedback (the absence of the problem on your end can also be insightful)

Fighting Tutorial Quest


The Fighting tutorial can make issues, if it is not completed and you talk to the Dungeon Guild Master later. PS: There are of course still lots of small issues present and also a lot of things we fixed but did not mention directly. Don't let any of that stop you from posting issues you've found though. Its better to have an issue posted several times then us not knowing about it.

Post Gamescom News

Hello everyone! We had an amazing time at Gamescom 2022! Thank you so much to everyone who played the Delicious Dungeon Demo, either in person at Gamescom or at home via Steam. We received a lot of wonderful feedback, which will help us during further development. We are very hyped to continue working on the game! During Gamescom we updated the Demo on site with a few bug fixes, which we are now able to push to Steam. The Fixes: - Most importantly, Keyboard support is fixed. It now shows the Keyboard prompts and Control Layout - Items don't disappear when switching them between the kitchen inventories - Prevents player from getting stuck in the kitchen - Stops player from falling into infinity - Gives player more healing items - A little on screen lock-on reminder Since this is still a Pre-Alpha, the game might have more bugs in there, so don't be too confused when something does not work. Delicious Dungeon combines dungeon adventuring with culinary simulation to give you the fantasy meals you can’t find anywhere else. You are an innovative restaurateur in a fantastical world. But to supply your kitchen, you must explore dangerous dungeons and conquer delicious enemies to acquire the ingredients needed for your culinary masterpieces!

Surviving in a fantasy world is hard. (No 24 hour groceries or food delivery services.) You have your own cozy restaurant and homestead. But that’s not enough to satisfy the adventurous tastes of your customers and yourself. You need fresh, exciting ingredients to use in your dishes, and the fastest, cheapest way to get them is by going dungeon-diving.



The Dungeon:
Explore the woods! Fight monsters! Loot them for ingredients! Forage for plants and other hidden treasures. Boss monsters can offer a generous restock and even some rare materials!


Too busy to butcher your way through the dungeon? Hire the local adventure's guild! They will gladly take it upon themselves to bring you the ingredients, for the right price (and maybe a complimentary dinner?)


The Restaurant:
Manage your resources wisely! Plan the dinner based on what you have in your larder. Master several cooking techniques through mini-games. Don’t worry, your fellow villagers know that good food takes time, they’re not going to rush you. But don’t be fooled by their rustic ways, some are food critics at heart, so quality is key! They’re not going to pay for a bad meal.


Don’t want to spend your nights in the kitchen? Hire helpers to do the cooking for you! However, you still have to take care of the menu and the evening opening, it's still your restaurant after all.


The Village:
You can’t have a restaurant without customers! Here, you can get to know your clientele, and do some impromptu market research: find out what they think of your restaurant, what foods they want to try, or what their favorite dishes are.

You can also go to local vendors to improve your cooking utensils, or buy new spices, or hire helpers.

All done for the day? Then hit the sack to save your progress and get ready for another day in the delicious dungeon!
